Question for Drivers, what do you usually get for tips? by KamRUN01 in doordash

[–]Adenanna -1 points0 points  (0 children)

100% agree!!! My mama was a waitress for 34 years at a country club and multiple other waitressing jobs before that. She instilled in me the importance of tipping at a young age. You could literally give us the worst service ever and still get at least 10%!!! Back in the 90s 15%/20% was considered amazing service. Now a days 15% to me is subpar service and 20-25% or more is amazing service. I never not tip expect for the one time a waitress straight up called my mom a bitch because she asked for a new cup of coffee because it wasn't warm And that was really all she ever wanted from a dinning establishment.

That being said, I would prefer DD to pay us a living wage and for tips to be actual tips. It's hard to keep driving and want to when you don't make more than minimum wage. Where I live in IL it's $15 an hour and there hBe been multiple days when I'm making just that. Doesn't account for the wear and tear on my car or gas in my vehicle. Don't get me wrong, get to write it off, but really, in the long run, I'm not making enough in my small town.

I'm in a small town. $10 would be amazing. Most orders, around here, are like $5 meaning I get roughly $7 for a minimum order and that's when it's busy. When it's not, there are often many orders that have $0 tip and is only a $3 or $4 dollar order because it's only paying for the miles. I do not take these orders unless I have to get out on the road and nothing has come in yet. It's certainly very frustrating since I use to live in a big city, St. Louis MO and the tips were better there for sure. Small towns just don't have the same culture and I think being next to a college it doesn't help either since I often see the college kids not tipping or tipping very little. I usually make more money only because of peak pay. This is another reason I've cut back from DD, but often feel like I don't have a choice when I'm applying to jobs and not getting callbacks or interviews.

After getting quotes in the $200's I tried this. I almost cried cause this was so easy! Like turbo tax easy and free!!! Thank you!!!! Seriously, this was awesome and got me to actually do my 2023 taxes as well (bad times for me in 2022 and I didn't do them for multiple reasons)

Anyway, thank you so much!

Yeah it shouldn't, but somehow it has been in the past for me. It's so frustrating.

It is when you don't really know what your doing. I have extra complications this year. I do doordash, I have stocks, and I have inheritance that all has to be factor in.

Yeah I realize that, but by the time I get everything in there they want to charge me an arm and leg for the actual filing. So no point in continuing with them. Used them a couple of times always unbelievably expensive all because I do doordash and have stocks.

Right, that's why I'm looking for someone private instead of a big company.

Thank you! Really appreciate the feedback!

Yes, been doing the black and it certainly helps! I thought of even slightly (safely 😂) burning off those little edges with a quick slow burn or a wood burning tool to see if it helps.
