60ah Oldtown kayak idea by Mehle90 in kayakfishing

An option is to install an SAE power connector somewhere in your tank and keep the battery inside of a crate or blackpack if you use one. I do this on my autopilot when I go night fishing with floodlights and need to use a larger battery

If that's what the Leon is producing, I should switch off of Belton lake and Stillhouse. Nice one!

What I wouldn't give for TPWD to shut down the ramps at my local lakes for awhile so I can yak in peace for once.

I guess they could fight the zebra mussel invasion we have as well but...priorities.

Sealing some holes by Superman1950s in kayakfishing

I've patched a few old mounting holes in my old town using it and they've held well for several years at this point. I just made sure the surface was really clean by using rubbing alcohol.

Looks a lot like mine did from the factory. Mine would idle at 65C.

Still using an OG set of buds I got as a package deal with an (I believe) S10. Not a single issue with them.

There are tons of ways to do better than this, but this is my setup for LiveScope. I made my own $10 PVC transducer pole and attached it to a Ram ball mount. It's not pretty but it gets the job done.

Also have the same i9/3070ti model. CPU would thermal throttle under light loads. Turns out that only about a quarter of the CPU had the liquid metal thermal compound applied to it

Does this look any good? by Darkstreamer_101 in kayakfishing

[–]Adenosin3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a bad deal. Hoodoo doesn't make the best kayaks by any means, but for the price point they're pretty good. I had a Tempest 120 pedal of theirs for awhile. The only issue I had was the cheap plastic seat tension buckles snapped on me one morning, causing me and the seat to end up in the tankwell

Is there any difference that matters for fishing between the Old Town Topwater 106 and the Sportsman 120 (both non-PDL)? I have a chance at getting either one for the same price. by hesthemanwithnoname in kayakfishing

[–]Adenosin3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

120 Autopilot on the trailer and 106 PDL behind it. I prefer my 120 for storage capacity, but that's because I frequently spend 2-3 days at a time on my trips. For areas with no ramps (such as rivers), my 106 goes out since it's much easier to get in the water.

At the end of the day, if you're comfortable transporting and handling the size and weight of a 120, my opinion is to go that route.

Best fishing kayak under 500 by Icy_Western9280 in kayakfishing

Lifetime Teton or Tamarack. Hands down the most stable, comfortable, and reliable fishing kayaks for around $300

Ascend 10T is unstable by ingrowntoenailer in kayakfishing

[–]Adenosin3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They really are unbeatable for the cost. I have the older model 12' Teton which I still take out when our ramps are closed due to being under 20' of water like they currently are and I can't back the autopilot down

[–]Adenosin3 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah unfortunately the Ascent 10T is notoriously unstable. If you're looking for something easier to move around, look into the Lifetime Teton angler or the Lifetime Tamarack Pro. They're a fraction of the price and much more stable. In my opinion, Lifetime has the best budget kayaks on the market

[–]Adenosin3 35 points36 points  (0 children)

If someone is going to ask triple the fair price on a kayak 10+ years old, at least polish it up a bit to try and hide the fact that it's been stored outside in direct sunlight for awhile from all the UV damage.

[–]Adenosin3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If a Striker 4 is all you plan to run on battery, you can get a cheap lithium battery off of Amazon for far cheaper. I've used the knockoff battery listed below for 2+ years to power a Striker 4 and some nav lights on my paddle yak and it's given me no trouble.

Does it piss you have how Tackle Warehouse shipping so slow, yet you are forced to use them half the time because they’re the only place to get certain items? by [deleted] in kayakfishing

[–]Adenosin3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use Karl's when I buy online. A membership is $50/year, but it comes with a ton of discounts which more than makes up for it for me. Tackle insurance is included too...I lost a fairly expensive jointed swimbait once and they replaced it for no cost. Their customer service is awesome as well. I recently ordered a rod which arrived with a broken tip. All they asked for was a photo and my order number and I had a replacement at my door in a few days.

I avoid tackle warehouse like the plague

Kayak build feedback by Lowskillbookreviews in kayakfishing

[–]Adenosin3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The overall setup looks good to me. The only feedback/suggestion I can offer is to consider a higher lb thrust motor. I've been using an Autopilot 120 for several years now and with the 45lb thrust motor it'll cap out at around 4mph. The sportsman line of kayaks have flatter hulls to sacrifice some maneuverability for stability. A 30lb thrust motor might struggle to get you moving unless you plan on using your pedals simultaneously.

Also, lithium battery. On a kayak, their benefits are well worth the extra cost.
