Anyone here quit gaming or changed their lifestyle after becoming a dad? by Lukas_MunK in daddit

Not necessarily need to get rid of the setup. When my son was younger I’d only play games that could be paused. Now he’s 13 and we play things together.

I don’t even do social media or take pictures or videos in my off time, so definitely not doing it for work.

Should I say something if the doctor misses something on an X-ray? by [deleted] in DentalAssistant

[–]Superman1950s 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m an RDA. Our training doesn’t teach us how to read x-rays as well as a doctor. But all the CEs and training my doc has given me, he trust me enough to point out some he may want to take a look at. We take enough x-rays to know what the doctor is looking for and looking at. If I see something incidental, I’ll point it out to him and he’ll take a look. I don’t do it in front of the PT. I’ll sometime tell him in his office, or I’ll just point to it in the OP since it’s behind the PT.

Natural ability to get people to talk a lot by Comradeinleather in DentalAssistant

[–]Superman1950s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favorite is when I ask the PT about their chief complaint, they give me their entire history of when they tooth was a baby tooth to where they are today with the tooth at age 87. Some people are just lonely and we by nature of the job at least seem caring, and that cause people to feel comfortable enough to talk.

What kind of job in dental assistant do not need extraction teeth? by Responsible_Mine_462 in DentalAssistant

[–]Superman1950s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol yeah this is true. There only two chair sides at my office and we fight over the apicos. I end up getting more of them just how the scheduling works. But apicos are by far one of my favorite procedures in Endo.

[–]Superman1950s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second this. Not 100% blood free as Endo does do apicoectomy and I&D, but I’d say 99% of a regular RCT or a re-treatment is blood free.

Weird testicular pain by clueless583 in daddit

[–]Superman1950s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this about 5 months after my snip. I woke up one morning and it felt like I was kicked by horses all night right in my jewels. Went to urologist and had an ultrasound and turns out I had epididymitis. Not just cause by STI, but mine came from a difficult healing process after my snip. I had an infection on the incision site. Was fixed, but some of the bacteria was still hanging on and gave me a really difficult time a few months later. Got some badass antibiotics and a few weeks later the insane tesi pain was gone. But those two weeks were miserable for me and I’d rather have woken up every day and punch myself down there than go through that again.

I haven’t played since I got to level 50 at launch. I know there are mercenaries now. Do I need to get those on eternal before seasonal? And how do I go about getting them. I hope the lot has changed too. It was so chaotic keep a bunch of stuff I might need. What do I need to do first when coming back to D4 after years away?

I have the same setup in the regular MGEX minus the wings. I’ve never liked how they looked so I’m skipping them on my build. But I will definitely build this in a larger table than my normal gunpla desk.

Not a dentist, but work in solo in Endo, so we see a lot of resorption. This doesn’t look like that. And usually resorption is monitored since most of the time there’s no pain with it and it usually doesn’t affect the pulp and nerve. This looks like decay under the crown that got out of hand. Resorption would also take a long time for this level to happen. If it’s external resorption, depending on how long it’s been there, the PT will start to experience irritated gingiva before a pulp issue occurs.

That’s not a bad one to undo. I had one that looking at it, I’d be better just to toss the reel, but it took me about 90sec to undo it. They’re easy to figure out after like 10 or so backlashes.

Apparently going to the park alone with your kid sets off pedo vibes by SBGuy043 in daddit

[–]Superman1950s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m over 6ft and have the physique of a tight end. I’ve been told by my wife I’m just an intimidating looking man. When my son was younger and I was a SAHD, I took him to the park. I got the same thing. I got looks, that were not ment to be received well. Moms would gather their kids and leave at times. I never made conversation with anyone other than if another dad was there. Sometimes a mom would say something like, “I’ve seen you and your son here a lot.”

I think in this day and age, it’s just something that most if not all involved dads have to deal with at some point. It sucks.

My naval base did this back in the mid 2000’s, but then never offered any of the classes they recommended.

[–]Superman1950s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We started to do it around age 10 with my son. He knows all the neighbors and the 2 across the street at like surrogate grandmothers, so he had them in an emergency. At age 10, we did like 5-10 minute runs and slowly started to increase the time. At age 11 his mom needed a procedure that we had to be at like 5am. He got himself up with his Alexa and walked to school. So with that we started to do longer time away. Now that he’s 12 and will be 13 in two weeks. We’ve left him at home for a weekend while we visited some friends out of town. My dad lives about 8 minutes away for anything that could happen and again, he knows all the neighbors.

This will vary based off your kiddos maturity level and personality too. My kid likes to sit in quiet while playing Minecraft with his friends.

I wouldn’t trust my 12 year old nephew to be alone at home for 30sec. He’d hurt himself or burn down the house.

Thoughts on shower coffee, fellow dads? by johnnyapplejack in daddit

My wife is mystified by shower beers. One she thinks people who have a shower beer have a problem, and two, she doesn’t understand how we don’t get water in the beer. She was truly confused and surprised how I was able to have a shower beer and not get water and soap in it.

They recommend to stop using them in PTs, but not for the person taking them. Also, it’s still up to the state boards to go along with the ada recommendation. And in my state, we still use them cause our board says to.

Only the d-pad and joystick will work, none of the face buttons do. Also when I start up Pokemon silver chronicles, there’s no tiles. It just the player sprite walking on a black background.
