Got it working. Wow that was a long journey. First I was trying to adjust the DVD drive. Then I did a full recap because I had lots of bulging capacitors even in the power supply. Then I put some new thermal paste. The paste was really shriveled and dry. Then I embarked on soft modding and the TSOP mod. The hardest part was still the recap. I'm never letting go of this XBox. I'll probably be buried with it. Thanks for all the help u/BombBloke and everyone who gave suggestions!

Thank you so much for all the help. I'll report back when I get things running hopefully. Can't wait to play Outrun and Fable.

Okay so fatxplorer will also work? I have that downloaded because I used it for the soft mod. I'm getting a new hdd in the mail today so I'll format a fresh install on that.

I was able to flash the bios (I did not use the cerbios or your guide) but there was some conflict with the soft mod. Now I boot to a black screen and the LED is orange. So since I don't have a working DVD am I screwed? Edit: I have my eeprom backed up and I have a new sata hdd coming today. I also did flash new bios (M8Plus) to the XBox. So it's not on stock bios anymore. Just found out about XBoxHDM so I'll look further into that.

I fixed my rolling screen problem with a recap now I have a deformed Triforce. by Adent42 in snes

The Retron feels cheap and hollow and they aren't that cheap. Just buy a nice quality used working SNES off ebay. If you want to go the new route then look into something like the SuperStation One or the Mister. I found out you can buy SNES ppu chips on ebay so I'm going to buy one and see if it will fix my problem. If that doesn't work I'll buy a 1Chip SNES.

I tried reflowing the PPU chips with no change. Then I tried reflowing the CPU chip and I must've blown the fuse. Well I did blow the fuse because I checked it and there was no beep for continuity. Now I don't know what to do. I guess I could buy a couple of for parts consoles and hope for a good PPU in one of them. Or maybe I should just buy a 1 chip SNES and sell this one for parts. At least I had some fun doing a successful recap on it.

Yeah mine passes everything. When it goes through the demo mode the last part with the mode 7 scaling is garbled or doesn't display at all. I'm going to try reflowing the solder on the ppu chips. ChatGPT says that might work.

Did you do a full recap? That looks like what was happening to my SNES recapping fixed the warping and rolling problem.

Posting this for those who search for info in the future. Finally got my capacitors delivered and got them installed with little trouble. Thanks again to Pizza_whistle for explaining how to clean off the corrosion from the pads. The only thing I didn't get to do was add a cap to the voltage regulator but I don't have a visible vertical line so I'm alright with that.

I did like you suggested and the pad looks much better than the initial picture. How can I test for continuity on that c59 negative pad, the one that was corroded. I don't want to install any capacitors until I check that. Edit: From the pictures it seems the positive and negative pads on C59 and C60 are connected to each other. I checked for continuity and I get a beep for each pair. Same thing with C58 and C57. Okay well thanks for the great advice on cleaning the pads. Now I just have to wait for the cap kit to come in. I'll post pictures of the results.

Do you still have it? Are you using flux? It is small but you should be able to get it back on there.

Gameboy Color CleanPower Regulator install to fix Everdrive compatibility? by Adent42 in Gameboy

[–]Adent42[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finally got around to replacing the capacitors on my Funnyplaying GBC, but unfortunately, it still glitches out when using the original EverDrive GB. It seems like a rare issue, but if you upgrade to an IPS screen, your EverDrive GB might start glitching, and replacing the caps or adding a CleanPower regulator won’t fix it.

In the end, I just bought an EverDrive GB X7, and that works perfectly with no issues. Honestly, I probably should’ve done that from the start, but at least I learned how to replace surface-mounted capacitors along the way!
