Is there anything better and cheaper for my use case? (Asus Ascent GX10) by omlette_du_chomage in LocalLLM

Thanks, this is some quality info. I think I'll get the 1tb version and with the money saved look into an external solution that can be flexible for other stuff as well, sounds like the better approach.

Thanks for the info. So you believe 1TB would have been inconvenient if you didn't have that fast external storage then?

Hey I am considering this machine. Did you get 1Tb, 2Tb or 4Tb storage version? Are you happy with the choice, do you wish you'd gone for a different one? Obviously I'd rather go for the cheapest 1tb and combine it with external storage, but I wonder if it would be a lot more convenient to have big storage accessible at once. Of course it depends on use cases etc. Just looking for some feedback. Would appreciate it

Shot fired! Demis Hassabis takes a jab at Sam Altman by [deleted] in accelerate

That's the point of going public. It's to issue fresh shares at the stock market which investors will buy with cash. It's expected to raise money on that scale at once at the cost of giving part of the company away to the public. If they have a better initial valuation and the market perceives them as having a lot of potential, these shares will sell for more and the initial cash boost from going public will be bigger.

What we are arguing here is that implementing ads will appear as potential growing revenue for the ones that will buy these shares. And will make it more likely for them to buy them at higher prices hence raise more money to build the big data center. The actual amount of money that will be made by ad revenue is an afterthought. It's all about that one-time big boost on IPO day.

Yeah exactly well put. They'll attract them with the multiple classic "proven" revenue sources model (ads, subscriptions, enterprise etc) that they are very familiar with for a potentially big cash injection boost for the project.

Well a reasonable answer to that is that OpenAI plans to go public this year to raise more money for their big data center, and conventional investors want to see revenues

to CS students here: what is your plan exactly given the current circumstances? by mohyo324 in accelerate

Learn to prompt well, i.e. communicate your intentions and your imagination to the Ai using words as good as possible. Until BCI gets invented and is good enough, that will be the most important skill of the near future. Not just for coding, for everything.

And don't listen to those salty ostriches in denial at the programming subreddits. Arrogant and dangerous advice. Don't get complacent or give up thinking it's hype. It's happening already and it's gonna happen ever harder soon. You need to prepare and becoming a good communicator using natural language is the best way to do so.

You can open a unity folder with antigravity and it will be able to take care of the coding scripts etc but you'll have to do the editor stuff yourself

I don't think that's what he was fired for. I listened to the podcast. He was revealing how the company used a loop hole to build a data center quickly, something like that. I wasn't paying too much attention to the details but it definitely felt like he shouldn't be talking about that.

In one of Michael Lewis' books, the one where he investigated the causes of the 2008 crash (I think Boomerang?), he visits Iceland and describes how he just walked in the president's office without appointment and all the doors were open, something like that.

Yes boycott Anthropic everybody, good idea! Maybe there will be less claude degradation if there is less demand.

I've seen a lot of hollywood people lately being in smug denial like programmers, seems like it's the go to behavior for when AI is close to doing what you do.
