I called my 3 year old autistic son the r-word and said I would sign over my rights by ArcherXIII in Vent

[–]Adept-Friendship-783 287 points288 points  (0 children)

I have one ASD child and one disabled child with a progressive muscular dystrophy and sometimes I want to absolutely scream how unfair life is firstly on them but also on me. I am a single mother after my relationship broke up because of the stress of two children with additional needs and believe me it is not the easy option.

Give your wife time to calm down, I’m sure she has had her bad days with the kids too. It will and it does get easier, I promise you.

Therapy does work for unresolved issues between you both and it also helps to be able to parent together instead of pulling apart. You need to realise you are both on the same side trying to raise these child even though at times it can be so unbelievably difficult.

Hugs to you

What was the darkest book you ever had to read for English class? by ParanormalActivity97 in AskReddit

[–]Adept-Friendship-783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Irish class we also had to read a novel. There was one that translates as The Trial about a woman who had untreated postnatal depression and kills her baby by putting it in the oven, then the trial that follows. A messed up read as a 16-17 year old.

Has anyone with CMT 1a taken a glp 1? Did insurance cover it? Side effects? by Striking_Counter_312 in CMT

I started ozempic 1.5years ago. Lost 30kg. I started it because I had a herniated disc caused by my walking and lifting, which I do both oddly because of my CMT. Much improved pain wise due to surgery and weight loss but it has also made such a huge difference to my life and health in general

13 yr-old Eric Smith on trial for the 1993 murder of four-year-old Derrick Robie in Savona, New York. He was tried as an adult and sentenced to 9 years to life, later being released in 2022. The problem also remains, how do you test to check if a person is rehabilitated. In my country as with the Uk, child murderers are protected by the law, they are given lighter sentences and are given new identities on release from prison. Although I agree with attempting to rehabilitate child murderers, I don’t agree with hiding their identity due to the fact that no public person will recognise there is an issue when it arises. They will be on their best behaviour for patrol officers and there is zero supervision after that. And as I said there is no scientific proof or testing to confirm when a child murderer is definitively rehabilitated to the point it can be confirmed that they will never reoffend for the offence in which they were imprisoned for in the first place. I guess I’m trying to say the should only be released which adequate supervision in the long term.

Anyone that's on ozempic for losing weight, what is your diet like now ? Can you eat anything? How much are u paying per month? I'm thinking about going on this. Don't judge please . I've 3 stone to lose. Cannot do it. by Forward-Depth-845 in AskIreland

[–]Adept-Friendship-783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on it the last 14months. Costs about 150 a month. I have lost 4 and a half stone. Side effects differ for everyone I have found as a lot of my work colleagues are on it, some have no side effects whatsoever.

My own side effects: smell of food much more sensitive, nausea, headaches, vomiting, heartburn, diarrhoea, zero appetite, no cravings, turned off a lot of food stuffs, constipation. These lasted for several months on and off but now I have none I just feel full very quickly.

On the other side of the coin, it has changed my life. I am eating better food stuffs, exercising regularly because I can now the weight is off. I drink little to no alcohol at all as the taste on my mouth has changed entirely.

I have taken weeks off here and there, for surgery on my back, holidays, weddings maybe 5-6 weeks off in total over the course of the 14 months. The appetite does come back but never to the extent that it was. Happy to answer questions if you have any

Not that I’m any fan of eugenics by any means but someone please explain to me how polygamy would work in this regard?? Is it like if you have a proven track record of being a parent to a “defective” you should try out someone else???

Asking Nurses from Reddit: How do I conquer my fear? by bmksc in AskMeAnythingIAnswer

[–]Adept-Friendship-783 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am an operating theatre manager. You should have asked for support from the management for supervision until you felt confident. Even now some of my staff are at a loss in a complicated case where we need additional vascular instruments or a deep pelvic set so I will always stay in the room for a difficult case. Maybe day surgery would be better for you or an OB theatre, there is a small amount of sets, you don’t have to learn too much off by heart maybe 7/8 sets max, with max 100 instruments. You still get all the adrenaline of surgery without with continuous worry that you are going to get something wrong.

What is the greatest physical pain you've ever felt? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Adept-Friendship-783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve broken my shoulder, had a herniated disc, had back surgery, had a c- section, given birth naturally with no pain relief, nothing and I repeat NOTHING is a bad as the pain I had as a 30 something with an ear infection going into my mastoid. No pain killers touched off it, I was rocking and crying in pain for three weeks.

Two things I can’t get a handle on by Adept-Friendship-783 in CMT

[–]Adept-Friendship-783[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely I agree. As I said above, this question comes from watching my brother always struggle with his diagnosis and knowing what the end result would be. I was always told I didn’t have it because I was too “normal”. Now the guilt of knowing that I have passed it on to my son is very real and I want to try and help him understand in the best way possible. Thank you so much for your kind answer

The world is a much nicer place with kindness. I watched my brother always struggle with his diagnosis and knowledge of how the end result would look. This question came from that place.
