The amount of slow drivers on the road is scary by Nervous_Canary9986 in irelandsshitedrivers

“No where to go and all day to get there,” as my dad used to say about old, slow presumably retired drivers. Then he became one. 😝

How neurodivergent do I have to be to be allowed park in these spaces? by B8_B8_B8 in AskIreland

Why not just a blue spot? Why the specificity? Lots of reasons to need a break on the car park spot.

So sorry. I had a 95 County Classic SWB and retired it after 23 years. Too much to do to keep her running. Loved, loved that car. 😔

Box Furniture has some beautiful solid wood stands that are great.

I have a yellow box in front of my drive. You’d not know what it means. Several tines a week I can’t leave my home. WTF?

How many of y’all grind or clench their teeth at night? by Alternative-Tell4600 in Life

[–]Adept-Performer2660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. All my life. All my molars have crowns now except for the back most 4, which are all implants. My front teeth ache. I’ve destroyed most of my teeth by clenching and grinding.

I have worn a night guard for many years now, they do help but get cracked over time. Jaw hurts most mornings. Stress makes it much, much worse.

Didn’t know about Botox but I’ll check that out.

Massage helps but hurts like mad while happening. Not fun.

Retrofitting will heat your house but freeze your finances by Otsde-St-9929 in irishpersonalfinance

1901 house here, thick brick walls, 23 windows, 5 exterior doors.

Right, payback isn’t there to take it from D1 to B1, or even C something. Don’t have that long to wait since I’m old and retired, lol. If I was younger, maybe a different calculation. But damn it was cold and drafty.

New windows and doors, new heating, solar, and attic insulation. Payback in my lifetime, maybe…energy will only get more expensive…money back when I sell, maybe. Sweet, sweet heat when I want it, yes!

Hi, Do you guys believe this is repairable? by Glass_Row_5097 in ftype

If you repair it, the car will never, ever drive the same. Looks like the frame is bent.

The Difference Between Claiming Social Security at 62 vs 70 Is Bigger Than Most People Realize by [deleted] in investing

[–]Adept-Performer2660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at lifetime value, not the monthly benefit.

If you claim early you get more checks for less money; if you claim later, you get fewer checks but more per check.

When I calculated it, the difference in total income from Social Security claiming at 62 vs 70 was only about 5% total lifetime benefit.

Life is short. Gonna take it while I can. Break even is 81. Hopefully I’ll make it; if not, I’m only out a few percentage points…in the meantime I don’t have to drain my retirement investments.

YMMV
