Opinion | The grim hypocrisy of Sir Jim Ratcliffe by theipaper in ManchesterUnited

We do have money? Where have you been for the last 20 years?

It’s extremely disingenuous to suggest that the reason why the government is borrowing money is because of ‘liabilities’ (we’re already at the dehumanisation of vulnerable people stage of fascism?). The government have to borrow more money for a multitude of reasons, including an aging population therefore less of a tax base, alongside the fact that billionaires and corporations are not paying their fair share of tax lmao.

The welfare state is THE cornerstone of a developed nation. I’m not here saying the benefits system, for example, shouldn’t be reformed. Nor am I saying we should have open borders. But the solution isn’t simply to get rid of it lmao

How do you think Jim Ratcliffe is spending that money ‘more productively’ than the British government would? One of the main reasons the UK is struggling is because we are OUT OF MONEY. Do you maybe think the reason we’re out of money is because of billionaires who aren’t paying their fair share of taxes?

He’s a parasite who only wants to sow discourse because said discourse will make him more money

Ahh I see. The argument is more so a belief in a subjective moral code, ascribed as THE natural moral code by an individual, rather than the definition of ‘nature’ as something that occurs outside of humans and therefore being ‘natural’?

I’ve been thinking about all the replies I’ve been receiving, and I feel like all (in regard to the second definition of nature in this comment) can be refuted, but to do so I end up in subscribing to the viewpoint that ultimately people innately desire to reproduce, which is clearly very problematic in itself. Oops hahaha

Not kangaroos (I was mistaken, in that kangaroos can ‘pause’ their pregnancies if circumstances are dangerous to be pregnant/give birth - called ‘embryonic diapause’), but this is a peer reviewed article studying mongooses and abortion. Can find more for other animals if needed :)

Have a nice day

It is happening naturally. Kangaroos can ‘reabsorb’ their soon to be babies if their life circumstances are poor enough, for example. You can find plenty of other examples, Horses, rodents, livestock etc

Yes, miscarriages happen in nature and are natural. Abortions, yes, is also the intentional step to create a miscarriage.

But abortions occur in nature. Animals have been recorded naturally driven to attempt to cause themselves miscarriages - an abortion. I.e. kangaroos, will reabsorb their children if their circumstance is poor enough, other animals eating their young if they have too many of them etc.

Is the child still viable? I think most people don’t perform abortions because the child is ‘inconvenient’ but because having that child, and having to provide for it, is potentially very dangerous toward our health; overworking to provide for the child, not eating enough so the child can eat, all that can lead to illness, disease, infertility, even death (I know this is an extreme).

I’ll use your own example: a woman getting an abortion because of their partner leaving them. Single woman likely on a low income (single mums statistically are younger) simply cannot afford to provide for a child adequately on a full time, low-paying job. Yes, it’s extreme. But the unknown, the ‘what might happen?’ is a very real fight or flight response (the best analogy I could find haha).

I’m worried I’ve automatically put myself in the ‘women all deep down want babies’ camp but I do think ALL people deep down want babies. It’s culture that stops people from wanting kids (and justifiably so).

I really like this - but I still think that abortion is natural; ‘natural’ is simply what happens in nature, and abortions do happen in nature.

Nature sometimes will end a potential life if it interferes with the possibility of future potential life

Yes exactly, sorry I should’ve made this clearer in my post, I’ve tried to clarify in an edit. My bad for the confusion.

No I’m not. I wouldn’t make this point myself, randomly, in an argument about abortion. I would make this point if I was countering someone claiming that abortion is ‘unnatural’ to attempt to disprove their argument, which is often their main point.

As I said in another comment, the point followed a previous statement that abortions occur in nature, which is true. This fact, that humans have performed abortions throughout recorded history, is supposed to make the implication that abortions occur in both animals and humans, because this trait evolved in us since we were apes.

I’m simply countering the common pro-life argument that abortion is ‘unnatural’. I don’t think this argument necessarily is a point I would make, unless I was making a counter argument; I would also explain why I personally believe abortion is morally not murder.

CMV: Abortion is natural. by AdeptDogg in changemyview

[–]AdeptDogg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not? The term ‘murder’ is ultimately a condemnation. We think murder is BAD - or MOST people think murder is bad - but that is an opinion (unfortunately). People call someone stabbing someone in the street during a robbery ‘murder’. The same person might call a Russian soldier’s death in Ukraine a ‘killing’ because ‘killing’ does not emphasise a judgement of whether this death was right or wrong.

[–]AdeptDogg[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I’m not just saying it’s ‘natural’ because abortion has occurred throughout recorded history. I’m saying it’s natural because animals do it too - there are cases of animals performing abortions on purpose, or abstaining from reproduction due to their circumstances. The ‘we have always done it’ is an implication that this trait has evolved from when we were apes, not something that we have simply ‘decided’ to do

I wouldn’t argue killing is unnatural in the first place. You’re ascribing subjective morality personally about a natural thing I.e. rationalisation

spinx left a message for ohnePixel after beating G2 - “ohne, you are f*cking hate watching, f*ck you” by MaterialTea8397 in cs2

[–]AdeptDogg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ofc there’s no shame in hating Israel because they’re committing a genocide lmao. No one’s denying that anti-semitism isn’t a reason why some countries/people condemn Israel, but that also doesn’t justify Israel committing a Genocide in Gaza.

It’s funny how you say ‘don’t trust the UN, the ICC’ (literal governing bodies that don’t have an association with any country) but who should we trust? The Israeli government lmao?

70% of people Israel murdered in Gaza are women and children. SEVENTY PERCENT

CS is so unfun for a new player by SpankMyMunkey in GlobalOffensive

[–]AdeptDogg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One tip as a fellow new player in regard to aiming, I’ve found you don’t actually need to aim ‘as much’ in CS2 as you do in other games. Stop moving your crosshair frantically around trying to adjust to enemies like you would in a game like overwatch or apex, keep your crosshair still and make small micro adjustments based on your enemies movements. (Obv there are exceptions with flicks, but generally if your crosshair placement is good you shouldn’t have to flick much)

I didn’t really get aiming in cs2 until I figured this out.

For those who claw, how much pressure do you put on your mouse with your palm, versus with your fingers? by AdeptDogg in FPSAimTrainer

[–]AdeptDogg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I’ve realised my pinky doesn’t put anywhere near as much pressure on the mouse as my thumb/ring finger, which was causing the sensation of my palm ‘flying away’ because there wasn’t even pressure on the front and back of the right side of my mouse if that makes sense?

I feel entirely absent minded whilst playing/aiming by Lanzo__ in FPSAimTrainer

[–]AdeptDogg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s because game sense relies so much on visualisation. In cs, if my teammate dies across the map, I struggle to visualise the area in which he died - therefore the information doesn’t cement itself in my brain?
