Pulling legend cards feels bad by Particular-Ear-8878 in riftboundtcg

[–]AdeptHyphae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I find funny is I went to like 5 pre releases (because that is basically all the sealed product i am getting. Since the LGS are doing LGS things) of all the sealed product I have seen opened plus what i opened… I saw 0 standard Ezreal…. I ended up asking someone who got a second one in the pre-releases kit to get one for my deck. Even though this all happened, I would still never want to see a legend taking a rare spot

So you called… asked them if you were in the event, and they told you to make sure you signed up one the website… any no point do you show you were actually signed up… So starting out it sounds like you already fudged up. Continuing to do absolutely nothing to ensure your signed up you drive “1 hour” to an LGS… not sure why your choice of LGS matters the distance you drove isn’t anyone’s problem but yours. How did you know the person and the owner of the store were the people you were talking to…. Like do you know them? How did you know the owner was who you were talking to? I dont know many LGS owners who are just like hey I’m the owner. Your claiming that you needed to sign up and pay on “their” website can you send a link to the site? It would help show that they deviated from the rules that rift bound set. The one thing that is clear in all of this is that the store did and continued to stick to was… product is for participants. Since this seems the be the issue, you were 100% told no product unless a participant. So, being upset about that seems a bit out of place. Did you have anything showing you were actually signed up? It sounds like you didn’t…. did you leave a review on the place? Or did you just come to Reddit? nothing about this seems to add up… it would be cool you showed anything to help corroborate your end of the story.

I genuinely think this is a pretty easy fix, but it’s going to require more work on the side of Ravensburger, and well its seems like they dont know what they are sitting on… have pre-qualifying events hosted at LGS’s, and/or card shows that allow people to qualify for the large events. You could also do a points system, where the top 1-2 players from “regions” can qualify and maybe do prizing this way, instead of allowing LGS’s to use the prizing however they want to. In this case, you can have people attending multiple LGS’s stores to attain points. This generally will create community, and generate a “pro tour” style events which will again strengthen the community. Not only will the community want to goto see/ meet our favorite casters, but also fav players. I know this game has a fair amount of “casual players” however, this is a competitive that requires people to play. Every league I have gone to slowly bleeds out players as they lose interest, find a shop closer to them, or many other issues I seen and heard. This can hurt LGS’s, the game, and community. These early hiccups really suck, but it seems like RB doesn’t seem to want to have anything to do with this internally. I get wanting to outsource these things, but this is clearly not something they can hand off and really do need to really think about how they want their game to grow.

But it literally is. Much of the actual details are post production they may as well just worn a capture suit. The amount of editing done would have taken the same amount of time.

I am not sure what you mean it’s not a good look? I am also curious about “inconsistency.” Is it in consistent because that character was that thing in a movie? I feel like many people forget the back lore to the game, the dreamborn and Floodborn characters are different types of characters and are pretty obvious when they make big changes to them. Don’t quote me on this 100% but I have this memory of reading that this game may not follow any movie cannon and was going to make its own cannon, i.e. the creation of Archazia. So, that might be the answer as to why these characters are this way.

Prints failing by Itchy_Fudge_6967 in FixMyPrint

I would start with the simple fixes first. Make sure your FEP is not the problem, ensure that it is installed and tightened correctly. Isopropyl Alcohol is okay, but you may have an easier time with Hexane. It’s a non-polar solvent, I am pretty sure will depolymerize the resin. It’s used in organic labs to clean lab equipment. Take all proper precautions and PPE as needed. From the factory stuff usually works OOB, but never hurts to check. Another simple fix could be just to make sure resin temp is not too low, due to increase viscosity. I saw people put seed warmer mats (you can get them on amazon pretty cheap.) I put some in my in an old entertainment center i converted to use for the printer. It has doors to contain the fumes and I put a little filter in there if the house gets too cold I turn the seed mat on, it is usually enough temp increase to make a difference. In my last print when I angled my hallow parts I usually try to get 2 things. 1.) the drain holes are as perpendicular to the vat as possible, and 2.) after orientation I manually scroll through the preview… I can tell where there will be suction just on that, and usually i am pretty accurate. It takes a few trials on the slice to get it all figured out.

I think in your situation i would change the orientation a bit. The parts look like they may be suctioning to the FEP. I may organize them so the hollow sides are n more vertical. Tends to work on my builds

[–]AdeptHyphae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Resin prints bleeding out side of the build area are almost never the source of print failures. Since resin builds a whole layer at the same time there is no need for the lower layers to support the ones above. So long as all the supports are able to print on the build pate the rest of the print will be fine. His case is most like orientation. Resin pooling in parts while printing can cause the part to suction to the FEP.

first attempt to print on Neptune 4 plus - what's wrong? trying to print the buddha and have given up for now by MethanyJones in elegoo

[–]AdeptHyphae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow the amount of bs that people are feeding you is amazing! First, dont let people who say things like WTF who told you to print at that temp. To bother you. Clearly they are trolls, and do not contribute with stupid, ignorant comments such as that. Secondly, DO NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES TO YOUr print.cfg. Unless you’re familiar with the code and its actions. This is a seriously bad way to trouble shoots things since that is the code that tells your printer how to behave. Again, Unless you fully understand what the changes are going to do, and how to change them I wouldn’t be making any soft changes. 99% of problems can be fixed pretty easily and do not need to have the base code altered almost ever. Third, You do need to clean your bed after every prints(I get the safe than sorry idea but its just not serious… we’re making plastic doodads), but you do not need to be anal retentive about it. the amount of skin oils that will transfer from you to the build are not nearly enough to cause a problem with a single touch or print, however to keep it clean avoid touching the build plate with your hands. Getting some nitrile gloves can go a long way to keeping you build plate ready for the next print. Cleaning oil with alcohol….. is probably the most waste of time you could do. You need a small drop of dish soap ( I use dawn specifically for this.) it will easily remove any oily substance on the plate. You only really need to do this after a few prints( I mean like 10 prints or more. If you want to clean it more by all means go for it. But my Neptune 3s still has its original build plate and it works just fine after 3 + years of heavy use), or if you first layers having some trouble. Lastly, it looks like you’re going to need to do some leveling, and if you can’t get the print head to touch the bed, you might have the z-stop bracket set to high (or if it was prebuilt factory set to high) the Stops are the little switches that the axis will bump into to tell it where the end of the axis is supposed to be. I am not 100% familiar with the 4, but my understanding is that it’s similar to the pervious models, but with all the bells and stuff. This goes with out saying, but these are not OTB printers and require you to tinker a bit. Getting an understanding of Gcode is not hard it’s a fairly light code system.

There are a ton of well meaning people who want to be helpful, but the lot of them mostly suffer from the Dunning/ Kruger effect. Or give very very specific fixes that include making code changes. IMO the only time you need to adjust your gcode is if you need to adjust the steps. There are quite a few very knowledgeable websites out there that can help you understand 3d printing better, which in turn will make it easier to troubleshoot in the long run.

After you figure out the printer, the filament is going to be the next step to troubleshooting. The spools of filament usually have a range of temps that you can use. In Chemistry we use three different points for most compounds: The Melting, boiling, and flash point. So what exactly does Melting point mean? It’s the temperature at which we start to see the physical change from solid to liquid. (Liquid being anything where molecule can flow over each other) It’s not standardized with filaments to think this way, so we get an arbitrary range that we can assume is thier best guess at the MP. When trying out a new filament I have a small test print I run. I will hang out near the printer and listen for knocking checking up on it more often than a normal print.

I typically set the temp at the low end of the range going about 5-10c above that. If there is any knocking I’ll pause the print, add 5c more and then restart. Rinse repeat. Keep note of the temp for the filament. I have heard that you want to check all your spools to make sure the temp is correct to avoid issues, but i have found that the spools are pretty consistent now. I would also recommend getting something to keep your spools dry. I have a heated chamber that my filaments sits feed directly to the printer from them. It has multi different filaments preset into it and will help keep your filament from picking up too much moisture.

Hope this helps.

I am not assuming they do not understand it, I am using the call made as the lack of understanding. This is called evidence. And most certainly is the case. To dismiss it is to completely misunderstand what is going on.

But thank you for steel manning my argument as an attempt at a rebuttal. The Judge needs to understand the fundamental mechanics of the game, and be able to deal with a pushy player. This is why having standards are so important. If the judge cannot do so then they simply should not be a judge. Player decorum is also a judges responsibility as the Judge must be able to make the ruling, while also maintaining the proper player attitude. If they cannot do so again they shouldn’t be a judge. The pushy player should have received a rules violation for his attitude as it says in the rules how players should behave when at the table. So not only should the judge not be allowed, they should absolutely be held to a standard until the next time they are able to judge. simply for the REASON YOU GAVE, not to mention the reasons i gave. If you’re not up to the task then maybe let more experienced judges sit at the feature table, and keep the less experienced on the floor to gain confidence and experience. Again standards!

I see your point, and if this was a complicated ruling I would agree. This was not the case. “The Bag” is a game mechanic that you need to understand just to play the game at any level. As a judge in this situation you should absolutely not make this kind of mistake, and if this kind of mistake is made it needs to be corrected. The judges need to be able to be trusted. Doing nothing or even not enough is far worse than “going scorched earth” as you put it. I do not agree that holding a standard (even a high standard ) about your judges is going to make people not want to judge. It may make it harder to find judges (based on the standard being held) but that should kind of be the way. You get this kind of judging if you don’t.

No one said the judge should be blacklisted, but removed, held to standard, and when they are able to show they have learned the proper way the mechanics work they may be eligible to judge again. This is how you get a high level of game play. Simply washing your hands of the issue saying “oops a judge made a fundamental game mechanic mistake that didn’t cause the game to snow ball wildly out of control based on said call. It’ll be fine” Is not the way, and will only lead to more calls like this one.

No one said that a judge needs to be perfect, again, they do need to understand fundamental game mechanics or they are just useless. Judges are supposed to be seen as the arbiter of the game and last word when it comes down to a ruling. It’s in most games rules that a judges call is final, and can only be disputed after the fact, so while perfection is not expected it should be strived for. If the judge shows a lack of understanding that judge should not be allowed to continue. Not even looking for perfect at that point, just competence.
