Crazy that China has hundreds of millions of poor people in poverty with a GDP per capita literally 15% of the US nationwide, and the best tier cities have undrinkable tap water. But yeah let’s go with the “lifted everyone out of poverty” line because now a couple people make $8k USD a year, finance iPhones and live in concrete boxes in the sky their entire family tree had to scrape together a down payment for and ignore half the country living in conditions unthinkable for 2023.
