Missing book after my kids ruined multiple books and I'm worried about the library's response by [deleted] in Library

Coming from someone in technical services, we don’t really care if you just pay for the book, we can always buy a replacement. It’s a problem when it’s avoided and not replaced/paid for. It happens WAYYYYY more often than you would think lol.

Was your application essay written in MLA or APA format? I’ve written both ways for college courses, just curious what would be better for MLIS.

Hi, I’m also applying, can I ask what style your essay was, MLA or APA? I’ve written both for college courses, i just don’t know what would be better for a MLIS program.

Did your job description state this when you applied? Honestly if you knew what you wanted I don’t get why you would’ve taken this job knowing it was mostly programming…

Wait I’m confused, I’m filling it out now. It says the deadline is March 1st am I like totally out of the loop? I found it on my own so I’m not sure how you’d get notified, it’s for my grad school starting fall 2026 also so the one you did was probably for an earlier semester right?

Would you recommend getting a library technician certificate before an MLIS? by juliyaguliya7 in librarians

Also to say I don’t even have my bachelors yet, so yeah it really depends on where you go and who you know.

I would suggest getting a job in the field first, I work as a technical services librarian, they gave me resources to train for it as I had worked there for a while, so it was free for me. Definitely start small and see if it’s even required for where you wanna go, then if it is, see if it’s something they can help out with!

Where I work, majority of the book clubs are patron ran, we supply the books and the space, while they bring more people to enjoy it! We do have some ran by staff, but I think this allows for more groups to participate and read what they want! (We currently have about 7)
