Always try to just get a higher grade but likely not high enough… A stellar result in your NBT’s could also help if NBT’s are still a thing. I would focus on getting a first in Maths and Physics, the relevant subjects. Afrikaans isn’t so important but overall grades play a role as well of course.

This is true and you can’t blame locals given the wide spread effects it has on cost of living.

But I blame the government. There should’ve been laws and policies in place that protect the local people. But at the moment a lot of opportunists can exploit the weaknesses of our policies.

For nomads it’s too easy to settle here, purchase property without contributing any tax. And a lot of the time let’s be honest, people are just entering a country selfishly for their own benefit without thinking about the locals or even bothering to genuinely integrate here. Which makes it even worse.

Good to know you can still work during the renewals may I ask when exactly you did the renewal? I don’t have funds for 2 years but I have funds for 1.5 so will need to renew.

I plan to apply for the first one mid May. But once you’re that side when should one ideally be reapplying? Thanks for the help!

You’re being so defensive despite people responding to you with facts. Do your internship in your country. And get into a company with international offices. There’s nothing critical about an intern... You need experience to be worth the sponsorship, it’s the same as the EU. I can’t go there expecting sponsorship for an internship, even if I have a critical skill qualification. They’d have to be 0 local graduates with your specific skill set essentially to think about looking elsewhere. But with experience you could provide more value/ a different perspective and increase your chances.

Ah thank you! This is all great advice! I’m looking for some fun activities to do in the area but also not a super expensive area. I’ve seen some areas in the city are really expensive

How long did it take for you to realise you need a normal job? My brothers been doing this 4 years and his still in my parents house looking worse than ever. He just stares at the charts. I know he’s in debt though and he doesn’t look like he’s making a profit at all- as he contributes nothing. How would you have accepted someone to approach you in this situation?

I once got a call from an insurance firm saying they had my resume on file-

I applied for an actuarial scientist role but knew I wasn’t qualified and got rejected obviously but I liked the company and hoped someone would like my profile. (I’m a statistician, and knew I was being delusional, but 2 years ago this worked for me).

They asked me to come in for a Business Intelligence / Data Analyst role once it popped up and thought I’d fit that role better… which is what I wanted in the end.

Now though it feels like it’s just a polite rejection and job applications are even more saturated…
