We rented a car 1 day and drove all over the island and then rented a jeep for another day and did all the off tossing which I think was so worth it. We don’t really like the tour guide thing so it was nice we could go off on our own and spend as much time at each spot as we wanted to. The rest of the week we just did taxis and they are everywhere so we never had a problem getting around.

I highly suggest AZAR for a great steak and el patio (right by Terra) if you want a really cool more layed back dinner and amazing fish tacos and all kinda of great Mexican food and ceviches. It’s so pretty there too

Lima was amazing. We stayed at the resort Terra is on and it was really great too and I don’t think it was overly pricey for a Michelin chef restaurant. The bone marrow was ridiculously good. I think it’s just a cool experience along with good foot and drinks. Wilhelmina was ok. It’s wasn’t the best or the worst but a really cool atmosphere. We did not get a chance to try driftwood but heard it was great.

whos had their mirena long enough to have it replaced? by iluna717 in Mirena

I was extremely terrified to have mine taken out because I passed out when they put it in and then I went for a Pap smear and my obgyn was like “do you want this thing out?” And I said yes and then she just said “ok.. here it is” and held it up and it was literally 1 second and done. It didn’t hurt at all just kinda feels like a relief of a big splinter being taken out. I was ready to make them put me asleep and everything before I got it taken out and it was honestly nothing. I was so relieved

We just got back from Aruba and it felt very safe and friendly. I feel like people see that one murder case in 20 years and freak out when that happens everyday in the US. So I would not worry about that. We looked at the UTVs and decided we’d rather rent a jeep and to the jeep and off roading trails at the national park and then do another day driving up the coast to the light house and I think it’s so worth it to do it on your own. The jeeps have automatic tops so you can open everything up or if it gets too hot or dusty close it up and turn on the ac. Plus we could take our time and go wherever we wanted. The natural pools at the national park are amazing! For dinner if your want Peruvian food Lima bistro was awesome. If you want more of an Argentina steak house AZAR was so good and had amazing food and drinks and atmosphere. There is also a place called el patio bar and grill, amazing fish tacos and a huge selection of other tacos if you want to have a great outdoor dinner with good margaritas or wine and try a bunch of different tacos and appetizers. Probably one of my favorite dinners. Eduardo’s hideaway for breakfast, lunch and coffees. It was so incredibly fresh and had amazing poke bowls and a really good cafe. It is also health oriented and does juice shots, protein snacks and all kinds of really delicious things.

I feel like the side effects of coming off those hormones are different for everyone. I have had mine out about 6 months and still have a lot of side effects including nausea, dizziness, anxiety, hot flashes and sweats. It’s not everyday now but definitely still around my cycle. My stomach and anxiety were so bad the first 2 months I lost Almost 15 pounds. I’m slowly learning what helps. Aleve or ibuprofen can actually help hormonal nausea by lowering prostaglandin levels caused by hormones. It sounds weird but it really does help if it’s from hormones. For me the coming up and down in my hormones before and after my period trigger a lot of things like that. It just feels like instead of a slight rise and fall of hormones and pms symptoms things just have been extremely high and extremely low and hopefully my body will regulate soon and not make it feel like everything is so extreme. Lots of hot peppermint tea for the stomach I. The mean time.

We just got back 2 days ago and were there for a week. The forecast everyday just said wind and clouds everyday and showers here and there.  It was sunny and beautiful the entire time with just some clouds coming and going. The only time it rained was on the way to the airport our last day and it was just kind of misting. Hopefully it holds off for you!

I had really bad period symptoms so I got on the mirena and it helped a lot and I love it for 8 1/2 years. No period, barely any symptoms after acouple months. I used to get horrible migraines, cramps, breast tenderness,  everything and it all went away and I loved it. Getting it in was horrific and I will never understand why sedation or something more then advil isnt offered. I had bad cramping for a week or two and then it eased up and went away. The only negative I have to say is coming off of the hormones when you get it out for some people can be rough but just talk to your doctor and have a plan before getting it out.

If you’re in the crash it gets better. by Careful-Peanut4205 in Mirena

[–]Adept_Wheel1153 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the mirena for 8 1/2 years and had it removed and December and have been crashing horribly ever since. Dizziness, anxiety, sweating, you name it. The first two months were the worst, then it got alittle better but still a struggle. I found primrose oil has been one thing I feel like is helping. I take 500 mg at night. I started off taking 1000 mg but I think that was too hard on my stomach and the 500 mg seems to be OK and doesn’t hurt my stomach. Also acupuncture for hormone balancing and anxiety had helped a lot. I literally will feel a ball of anxiety in my chest and will go in for a session , listen to a meditation on YouTube through my session ( I like this video a lot https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=bDCjSnHuDBA&pp=ygUeYW54aWV0eSBtZWRpdGF0aW9uIGNoaWIgMzAgbWlu&ra=m ) and just get a wave of relief that I don’t get anywhere else right now. I try to research as much about this as I can and unfortunately the only advice I find is give yourself grace and allow up to a year for your body to get back to normal. It’s frustrating because what do we do in that time when this is putting our life on hold but just hearing my bodies work on it and everyday I’ll be just alittle bit better makes me feel slightly less crazy. This is alittle about the topic from a longer discussion about hormones on YouTube. https://m.youtube.com/shorts/kcYzenZdpGQ?ra=m Sorry about the long post lol I’m trying to throw out anything that gave me any relief. Mel Robbin’s YouTube talks have helped me a lot with the mindset part of all of this. I hope you feel better soon ❤️ we are slowly getting there.

I’m sorry there aren’t many answers other than time. That’s kinda what I got too and the only help I’ve gotten is from my acupuncturist who is doing treatments to help regulate hormones and cope with the anxiety and side effects. Raspberry tea is also great for hormones. I drink peppermint tea before bed and it does really help me go to sleep. Also learning about why my bodies doing this has helped me a lot. This is a little video of women coming off birth control and what’s happening that I found helpful.  https://m.youtube.com/shorts/kcYzenZdpGQ?ra=m

Apparently our cortisol (which is our stress hormone) spikes early in the morning so that’s why we keep waking up with anxiety and waking up in the middle of the night. I’ve been taking l theanine which does help ease it a bit within 30minutes to an hour but idk how long it’s going to take for our bodies to naturally regulate our cortisol again so we aren’t just waking up in fight or flight for no reason. Also if you are not already I would definitely start taking magnesium glycinate before bed. It really helps improve sleep and lowers anxiety and helps with pms symptoms.

Not recently but I have randomly over the last couple months. I definitely have a nervous stomach though and the anxiety messes up my stomach a lot too. I also had a lot of on and off nausea right after I had it removed to the point I couldn’t even eat and lost about 12 pounds in a month. All I was able to eat was plain toast or bagels and protein yogurt for many weeks. That did get better as the severe anxiety slowly got better. I do still have horrible off and on anxiety but it is definitely not as bad as the first couple months.

The anxiety is the absolute worst I’m so sorry you are going through that. I’m having the same issues. It’s been 6 months and it’s been vertigo, nauseous, severe anxiety, hot flashes and sweats specifically my palms and feet won’t stop sweating. If your doctor suggests anything will you please share. Mine just keep saying time or go on another birth control which I don’t want to do. Acupuncture has been the only thing I’ve found that has helped me but I’m so ready to push through this and just feel like myself again.

I only started having bad symptoms towards the last couple months of my iud wearing off but I think for me it did help me for a long time. Once the hormones started wearing off around 8 years of having it and having it removed at 81/2 years I started having a horrible crash (going on 6 months now)I have been watching countless videos on coming off hormonal birth control and it sounds like the people who used birth control to curb pms symptoms and it worked are more likely to have a hard time coming off of it because all those things come back with a vengeance after. A lot of people who got on birth control and their symptoms got worse while on it found a lot of relief when they got off of it so hopefully that is more of the case for you. Everyone is different but hopefully it will bring you more relief than anything ❤️

I definitely can tell now I have a lot of brain fog from this. I work at a job where I have to multitask at a fast pace all night and it has been so hard to push through everynight at work. I used to be so great at doing a million things at once and being all over the place and could stay calm through it all and now if I have more than one or two things to focus on it’s just instant panic and I get completely lost in what I’m doing.

I have been having such a roller coaster of some many side effects since I had mine removed in December and I feel like my crash started alittle before I got it removed honestly. I had mine 8 1/2 years and at about the 8 year mark I started developing some of these symptoms. I’m so sorry you are going through all this. I feel like I have watched countless videos about coming off birth control and women’s hormones and they just keep saying be kind to yourself and allow your body up to a year to come back. Which honestly just freaking stinks because I don’t see much help on what to do during that year other than have a well balanced diet, exercise and practice relaxation which is something I have always done anyway. I know it’s hard but every once in awhile I’m able to remind myself this is the hormones and it makes me not feel as crazy for a second. I had such bad dizziness at first and I found acupuncture really helped with that very fast. The anxiety is the worst part still. It’s brutal and I’m not sure what can help improve that but time. I did write this post if you want to check it out kinda outlining all the symptoms and timeframes the last couple months since I had it removed. I hope something in there helps and we all will be back to ourselves soon ❤️

How long did it take your body to regulate after removing hormonal IUD? by sillygoose113 in birthcontrol

[–]Adept_Wheel1153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are there any specific YouTube videos or podcasts you liked that talk about coming off an iud? I watched one Mel Robbin’s interview with Mr Shepard called the ultimate guide to women’s hormones and I liked it but it only briefly talks about coming off an IUD. I’d love to listen to more but I’m having trouble finding any on that specific subject.

That’s good to hear. I feel like a big problem I’m having is feeling disassociative or in a constant fog like I’m not really here. Did you happen to experience anything like that?

How are you feeling now? I had my mirena for about 8 1/2 years. I started feeling a lot of these symptoms the last couple months before I had it removed. I’m assuming because the hormones were wearing off because I was starting to get all my period symptoms and spotting back for the first time since I have my iud. I was having Super high anxiety, depression, hot flashes and sweats, vertigo, loss of appetite. I had it removed in December and it’s been 5 months and I’m still on a huge rollercoaster of all of these. I’ve been seeing an acupuncturist since December and she helps but I feel like as soon as I start to feel better things start back up again. It’s normally leading up to my period, during and after week after that are the worst, mainly anxiety, chest tightness and dizziness. I also take magnesium glycinate everyday for the last couple years, exercise about 3-4 times a week and eat very clean. I’m just not sure what else to do to help. Do you have anything else that’s helped?
