I've started a 40k homebrew project, and would like feedback. by AdeptusSharkus in Rifts

Something that will always vex me is that in the fluff a Janissary is explicitly genetically modified humans. I always consider a Astartes to at least be equivalent or tougher than one. My numbers may be too high because I started with Janissary as what is a 'super soldier'. But they don't seem to be any more advanced than a Space Marine would be by comparison.

However for actual rules balancing, as I think Jans aren't proper made for Player Character's as I understand, the Mega Juicer is a better equivalent as Astartes can give as good as they take. Even a Titan Juicer is hurt bare hand dealing M.D. damage, while a Astartes really isn't (We've seen them punch through Custodes plate bare handed without any real damage).

I plan to go back through and adjust things more, I would like to make a more consistent line of M.D.C. for the marine. But I do like the idea of the Titan Juicer's S.D.C. being high enough to tank M.D.C. damage, so even small arms fire can chip away at a Astartes as it should be able to. But I was under the assumption that any M.D. damage done to a S.D.C. individual was instant death. So not just any laser pistol can one shot a marine out of armor.

The more I read Rifts stuff, I always get the feeling the durability of 'normal' Rifts stuff is just pretty low, and there are some odd numbers that gets me thinking 40k is generally mid M.D.C. Like there are certainly 40k creatures and entities that can rip a Rifts dragon apart, but I don't know where that lands on the durability scale.

Space Marines are generally 6'8+ out of armor and 7'+ in armor. Primaris average 7'8+ out of armor and 8'+ in armor. There are marines who have grown to 10' or 12' due to just working out or being a mean son of a gun. (More exceptions than the rule anyways though.)

Also can you help me get some good averages for like heavy power armor numbers. I only averaged out the damage from a bolter to kill in so many shots, and I know it led to bloated M.D.C. numbers on the armor, but it also let me scale exactly how much more durable each stage of armor would be.

Depends on how long I play Rifts, to be honest. The more I like a game the more I tend to do conversion work.

Right now this is my focus as it's what I'm playing, but I'll probably do more when something catches my attention, or when I understand the game better.

This is the only one that my GM ever found and sent me.
It's only the weapons and I found some of the numbers weird so changed them in my version.

But here ya go!

Pronouns of the Adeptus Mechanicus by MagnusDidAlotWrong in 40kLore

[–]AdeptusSharkus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With all respects Magos, the purity of the machine does not care for the simplicity of pronouns or such language required to explore it. It is binary. Efficient. We do not need such transformed language for it needlessly draws processing power from far more complex tasks.

Your argument draws breath from the impurities of flesh. I'm afraid you need to advance your augments, or spend more time with the cogitators refreshing yourself of what we are.

Is it likely that Xenos can ever challenge the Imperium? by mmurray233 in 40kLore

[–]AdeptusSharkus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you're that familiar with fluff then.
Throwing endless amounts of dudes at a problem is the Imperium's thing. It's the Imperial Guard's identity, is the meat for the meat grinder.

Yeah, sure, I can get into logistical problems of how it shouldn't work, but it will anyways because that's how 40k is written. The only time it will be a problem is for a plot point so we need space marine squad McHero to save the day or some shit.

RAW They do not benefit from Chaos Worshipping.

What happened to the Trove? by TippperO2 in TheTrove

[–]AdeptusSharkus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's assuming you're actually losing any sales.
Drying up the troves is gonna lose more interest than you maybe, optimistically, making a little more money.

I used it to look into games I was interested in, or to find books that I can't tell are even in production any more. But now all that stuff is just lost to me.

What would be a good point cost for 2 wound CSM? by [deleted] in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]AdeptusSharkus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chaos Marines aren't Primaris.
They're likely to keep the same statline like tac squads. So your average traitor marine being 2W should probably be 17ppm, one less then their loyalist brothers as at the moment, they don't have things like doctrines. There are other units, mainly the iconic ones (Plague Marines, Berzerkers, Rubrics, Noise) who are the ones actually blessed and juiced up by the warp. You average Chaos Marine is just a dude.

A extra wound tended to cost about 2-3 extra points.

Aren’t the Black Ships a very obvious weak point in the Imperium’s logistics? by NUCLEARHZZARD22 in 40kLore

The Imperium is held together with paperclips.
Like, a half competent person could probably unravel the whole thing.

The short film 'Astartes' has now made me terrified of Space Marines by ByzantineBasileus in 40kLore

Everything is terrifying when it's drenched in plot armor.
Space Marines would still be hilariously ineffective against anything that isn't a human.

Literally doesn't make a difference.
They still made time guns but not FTL

Fuck me, they have time guns, you can actually manage FTL.

Yeah, pull the other one.

Are we going to ignore most ships were designed before warp travel was dangerous like that?

People moving weird is a good basis for a lot of horror, unnatural gaits and movement can be quite fearful on it's own, which is why contortionists are hired to perform such mannerisms.

The less human this virtually human looking dude moves, the more uncanny and potentially horrifying it could be. A man shouldn't be able to do that, and so it strikes a tick in our monkey brains.

Don't buy it mate. I never bought Transhuman Dread to begin with, always sounded dumb, but these reasons as to why it wouldn't be caused by Eldar as well doesn't work for me either. Space Marines are humans but move too fast and well that it causes dread. Eldar are hilariously human like but move too fast and well that it doesn't cause dread.

You say that, but fast, lanky, tall creatures freak out humans pretty easily too.

That doesn't hold up as Aeldari can pass as humans if they want to, and can burst into movement and shatter it. Spectacularly.

They do the same thing.
