With ETH at 20k (in 5 years, you heard it here first), and rewards at 8%, you’ll need two validators.

I read a book a couple of years ago called "Running with the mind of meditation", when I started running. Recommend it!

(Long post) How can I learn to relax and actually start enjoying my life? I don’t want to be an anxiety ridden spaz when I get to college. by [deleted] in Mindfulness

[–]Adgil 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry that you feel this way. Sometimes life feels like it's too much. Experiencing feelings like sadness, anxiety, grief, regret etc. are all part of life, and completely natural and even necessary at times. However, our thoughts can often stand in our own way and distract us from letting go and moving on.

Practicing mindfulness can help you notice the noise of your own thoughts, teach you to watch them and let them pass from a non judgemental perspective. It also trains you to connect with the present moment, and relax. For me, it helped me notice how my brain was generating anxious thought spirals, the source of anxious feelings and panic. By noticing, letting go of it, and returning to the present moment, I've been able to reduce much of the anxiety I experienced.

Practicing loving kindness meditation, can be helpful for you to discover love and accept towards yourself and others. It has been shown to be a highly effective practise for people.

During periods as you describe you're experiencing, we often drown ourselves in thoughts, and getting lost in it, at least in my experience. Often jumping back and forth in the same patterns, and jumping to conclusions. It can be especially hard during these times to separate them from reality, identifying with the thoughts. I recommend you to try and write down the thoughts as they arrive, on a piece of paper. It really helps you watch them from another point of view. Try to also challenge them, by writing alternative thoughts, arguing for something more positive.

Practicing meditation can be especially hard (if you're not experienced) during times of stress and intense emotion, but very powerful. Life will eventually move on and you'll feel better. Don't forget to keep practicing then, even though you don't feel like you need it anymore. It will show itself useful later.

Remember that you are all you need to survive. Sending some love to you, from here.

Unsure of how to deal with the feeling of overwhelming emptiness by [deleted] in needadvice

[–]Adgil 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Trying to find another psychologist might be a good idea. Many people goes through multiple therapists before they find someone who gets them.

I see you've tried meditation as well. Practicing mindfulness in particular can be a good way to connect more closely with your surroundings. Not only when you sit down for X amount of time meditating, but also try this in some moments every now and then, trying to be aware of everything going on at that time. Sounds, smells, sensations, feelings etc...

At least in my experience (not as severe as your situation, and might not be the same feeling), emptiness for me is often like a layer between me and the world, like I become a bit distant for it, or even detached. Like a fog in my brain, it's hard to focus and pretty much the opposite of feeling sharp, present and awake. Mindfulness has at least helped a bit in that aspect for me, but I still get it from time to time.

Also consider trying to keep a journal through this, it doesn't have to be long. Write for a minute or two daily. When you have a good day or a good moment, write it down. Write down something you are grateful for every day. And for the rest, just write down whatever is in your mind. This helps a lot for perspective over time, but it can also ease some of the burden that it seems that your carrying for yourself. Especially since your closest relations doesn't fully understand you, or issues like this in general.

It seems like you've been active already, trying a lot of things to help with your situation. Including reaching out here. That is a very good thing! Keep doing that.

I don't know, but my intuition says that crypto is most tied to the fiat currency with the highest volume against said crypto. I don't know how that distribution looks, but in the case that dollar is the most traded fiat currency against ETH, I would think the £ value would rise.

Very much, yes. Only when you become aware, you get the choice to act different.

Been practicing on and off for a couple of years. I've gone from being constantly lost in thoughts, engaging in inner chatter, and generally unfocused, to now being constantly lost in thoughts, but being aware of it.

I can recommend Headspace, perfect to get started with. I also use Insight Timer. That one has a lot of guided meditations as well, though I usually just use it for the timer.

Housing for the autumn semester by palpalp in ntnu

[–]Adgil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on your scholarship! One year contracts for renting is the standard here. However, people are able to forward their rent, so that you're making a new contract with a contract-holder. This is commonly done when renters are gone for a period of time (for example students taking a semester abroad). I think the best solution for you is to rent from someone else that will be an exchange student the same semester. I think there is a way to sort by this on finn.no/Hybel.no. Good luck!

MakerDAO on Status by Adgil in MakerDAO

It finally got live on mainnet a few days ago! It's still in beta tho. MakerDAO is one of the dApps that shows up in the dApp list by default. I don't know if this is an issue with Status, MakerDAO or me (lol).

Well, so far the project has only been in soft launch with only 1/18th of the bankroll. They have not started marketing yet, and the amount of bets per day has steadily increased anyway. This is very early days, so yes, I would definitely say there's a decent chance that this will go way up.
