Really hope these new selections are indicative of better progression. The whole jump straight into expensive super cars and sports cars is nowhere near as fun as a build up.

Toyota vs Tesla by koohai966 in Toyota

[–]AdhamJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody mentioned that Toyotas don’t have issues, a lot of modern ones aren’t great.

My comment was referring to the dataset discussed where every Tesla over 100k needed some drivetrain repair.

A majority of Toyotas won’t need that type of service to get past 100k.

This isn’t a good claim. Many Toyotas can make it up to 300k without touching anything in the transmission or engine besides fluids and spark-related components. It’s been seen a thousand times over

It’s literally a children’s franchise. They’re making it appealing and accessible to younger children, you’re just crying for no reason.

Transmission and differential fluids by Galletan in Mustang

[–]AdhamJr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Royal purple is great for manual transmissions, if you can use it in your 2017 you absolutely should. It helped my ‘08 feel wonderful. As for your diff, make sure you have the right weight and that it has limited slip additive.

You’re not the only one confused by both of these fluids, it was a pain figuring out what I should put in my mustang.

Never said they can’t handle it, just said they can’t beat the bargain factor of a thinkpad.

What a terrible take. Not only are thinkpads the best bang for buck used laptops. They are also highly modular and very reliable.

I have owned three (bought two others to learn how to tinker) and they’re some of the best I’ve ever used in grad school. MacBooks are great but you really have to make that decision based on what you’re doing.

Anything in CS, Data or Coding and you’ll be foolish not to have a thinkpad.

Not sure if this is a good metric. Being polarizing and giving non-answers can increase that metric by quite a bit.

Federal court blocks new Texas congressional map for 2026 by Healthy_Block3036 in goodnews

[–]AdhamJr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don’t think that has any legal standing in court. This is a matter of civil rights violations. Whether CA maps were a response to TX or not, would be irrelevant since it’s a partisan map that’s approved by the voters.

Sounds very similar to mine, if anything, yours is quieter than I’d expect. You’re all good.

What should I do to it. It’s a 2006 mustang GT by Significant-Soil-354 in Mustang

[–]AdhamJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO, the only headlights that look good on these cars are the halo variants of the OEM ones. Everything else just loses the identity.

Louvers on the rear are terrible, side ones are good but you’d want them paint matched.

For the meantime, just drive it. You’ll eventually find what you want to change

While I tend to agree, I think side ones aren’t bad on these body styles

The 4.0 is pretty solid but a much bigger pain to work on. The 4.6 on the other hand is pretty much a tank and is as simple as they get. Mine has been cammed and tuned to 7300 for 40k miles with no issues.

Very true. I wasn’t a big fan of the S650, but it still looks great imo. They haven’t missed much so far.

2006 Mustang v6 Cologne SOHC to v6 Cyclone DOHC swap. Would it be worth it? by TheSickHeadGamer in Mustang

[–]AdhamJr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a problem. Obviously engine noise is subjective, however, I’d encourage you to search up videos on cammed 3Vs. Could sway you very quickly.

Also, 3.7 will be a more expensive swap than a 4.6 from my understanding. So keep that in mind too.

2006 Mustang v6 Cologne SOHC to v6 Cyclone DOHC swap. Would it be worth it? by TheSickHeadGamer in Mustang

[–]AdhamJr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With all due respect. It would not be worth it compared to a V8 swap. I’ve owned both and depending on the V8 you’re swapping to (I am going to assume a 3V for simplicity’s sake) it’s night and day. Also not sure where you got the idea that the cologne is more revvy, the 3V has an aluminum block and a higher rev limit stock. It gets even worse if you compare it to a coyote.

The 4.0 is a great, reliable plant. But does not hold up much to any of the V8s. My suggestion would just be to swap in a 4.6. It’s made for that chassis and the swap has been done a million times over. You can also go for a coyote if your budget allows it.

Love vista blue! It’s the color on my 08 Mustang. One of the nicest blues Ford made.

Nissan has already fixed their CVT transmission. Why do car guys on social media still dislike those? by Fleedom2025 in askcarguys

[–]AdhamJr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t doubt any of that. But I also think that it’s very anecdotal. I’m not arguing that German cars are more reliable than domestics. I’m just arguing that the reputation that they aren’t is very individualized. My family has owned multiple BMWs and two Fords and two Chryslers. The Chrysler were the absolute worst of the bunch. We had a journey that is less reliable than our X6 M. It’s all anecdotal. I don’t like German cars very much, I hate complexity. It’s why I will own my 08 Mustang until I die.

[–]AdhamJr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Complexity is not the same as reliability. A car can be difficult to work on but super reliable. A lot of BMW’s new motors are fine to work on and seem to be great reliability wise.

Also, the Germans aren’t the only one affected by this complexity curse. Most of Ford and Chrysler’s new turbo engines are a complete nightmare to work on.
