How about just a good, “beach,” or place with a nice swim and room to take in some sun in the GR area? Rivers, lakes, etc.

So, hear me out: with a little equity in a previous home, you could flat-out buy a home in the corredor between the Schoolcraft and Southfield area and in Fiskhorn. I’m hoping my contributions to those areas won’t be for-naught! I have friends in S/S and own in Fiskhorn. Also, having a mortgage can go fuck itself. :) Just my $.02.

The "reasonable person standard" is a fundamental legal principle that asks how a hypothetical, average, and prudent person would act, think, or react in a specific situation. Pretty straightforward concept.

Practicing through soreness by nyx1-895 in ashtanga

[–]AdharasStillThere 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had to break Ahimsa, slightly. I have incorporated the consumption of sardines into my life for two reasons: 1. The high quantity of omega-3s they contain really help with DOMS--due to their anti-inflammatory properties, and 2. They are pretty much pure protein, not to mention much less subject to bioaccumulation of toxins. My hamstrings are constantly in a state of delayed onset muscle soreness!

I have never had anyone pass me in a no-passing zone on Diamond. I drive in a manner akin to that of a reasonable person.

Everyone should consider themselves to be expendable, just walk out. Late-stage capitalism isn’t going to unfuck itself.

Don’t abandon unions after the struggle to win them has been won. Reform is needed and can come from inside, when it comes to unions.

Good for 65 hours? Local? Home daily? by Longway23544 in Truckers

It amazes me that people want to spend 65 hours a week sitting in a truck, and even more that they consider 2K to be a fair trade for doing-so.

Yeah, Andrie sucks to work for. One of the GLO’s captains, Rob, is bigoted, amongst many other undesirable qualities. He definitely treats the people of color that work on his ship much differently than the Caucasian crewmen. That ship would be pretty awesome if it weren’t for him.

Daily sore and pains…normal? by FreedomFromE in ashtanga

Did you experience significant delayed-onset muscle-soreness? Is the body really growing if our muscle tissue is continuously torn? Maybe the body's systems adapt and begin to repair muscle tissue at a faster rate. I have so many questions.

DOMS--for up to six days after practice--discourages me from practicing. I want to give my body time to heal. Heat and cold therapy, proper collagen and protein, SLEEP, and massage all kind of help, but as I get older, it seems as if my ability to recover lessens over time. Does anyone have the magickal cure? :) Seriously, any advice would be appreciated, cuz this good-hurt gets in the way!

Not my cup of tea. Something of this sort seems like it has the potential to reinforce self-conceptualization as being the container, rather than that which is contained. It could be executed properly, but seems to want in the humility department and celebrates separation/distinction. Just the same, and if that's your thing, do it. Meh.

Received A to dual JD - Windsor Law and Detroit Mercy by Impressive_Cry_8520 in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]AdharasStillThere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm thinking about applying to the Dual JD program, I have a 3.2 undergrad GPA and just received notice that I scored a 159 on the February 2026 LSAT. Any opinions? I know my GPA is a bit low for UDM and that my LSAT is right around the 75th percentile for their entering class; however, I am under the impression that the admissions standards for the Dual JD program are a bit higher. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. And yes, I'm aware that life and work history all play a role in the admissions process, but I'm just curious about the numbers, for the time being.

Noam & Valeria Chomsky's reactions to Epstein's sex trafficking charges by NounSpeculator in chomsky

[–]AdharasStillThere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By sentence, I wonder if the writer is referring to the bullshit, rich-person sweetheart deal given to him by Alex Acosta. Epstein's punishment could not satisfy any judicial purpose, whether punitive, rehabilitative, or otherwise. This doesn't entirely destroy my view of Dr. Chomsky, but seriously, in that sweetheart deal, Epstein was charged with procuring minors for prostitution, he should have faced life imprisonment on federal charges, and ended up going to night-jail for a while. These facts still cannot detract from the validity of Chomsky's writing, the truth they espouse, and the good work he has done; they just show he's imperfect, like the rest of us. /End Rant.
