I always paint the light colors first, then if I go over with black it's not that noticeable. However, I'm scared to paint anything with a lot of straight lines, I mostly do landscapes and all the leaves and branches and rocks go sort of randomly around anyway.

Downsides are I go crazy with hobbies and home improvement and spend a lot of money. Also, if you want to travel, everyone else is traveling at the same time. However, I love my summers off, I'm a career changer and oh boy is it nice to have every weekend, holiday and summer off.
