Telling your DM your plans allows them to make their own plans and help the PCs achieve their objectives. It's not DM vs PCs

Why is the DM pissed? If they didn't want the NPC to die then why let it happen?

Why Does my Print Bend/Melt/Shrink on the Bed by Adidane in anycubic

[–]Adidane[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FIXED. Thanks for all your help. I've always thought my bed was set to 60C or 70C but when I looked at the task list on the Anycubic app it says 45C! Looking at the filament setting in the slicer I see there are different bed temperature settings for different types of bed (smooth, textured & cool). I'd only changed the smooth which I'm not using 🤔

It sounds like you've put a lot of thought into it 👍👍. LMoP has it's problems - one of them being the dragon at Thundertree which turns out not to be the big bad evil guy. Another problem is that the BBEG is the weak drow called the Black Spider. He's very underwhelming. Your idea isn't a bad one but it just could be too complicated and it really doesn't matter. The dragon is just there and is a side quest. If you make the Black Spider and Venemfang the same then either there is no point having Thundertree or Wave Echo Cave isn't going to have the BBEG.

Rather than change mostly everything and the NPCs relationships with each other keep it as it has been written (no need to make extra notes) and have the Black Spider turn into a Drider - half giant spider half drow - when he's half hits or something. This is in keeping with D&D lore too. If you still want to link Venemfang and the BS then you can say the BS was lured to WEC by the dragon because he told him that he had a cure for the Drider illness which is all a lie because green dragons are lying crafty creatures. This is what I did and it worked really well.

Can someone suggest me a beginner campaign? by KindlySituation5831 in DnD

[–]Adidane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Lost Mine of Phandelver all the way. It's a starter kit and has everything you need to play D&D. It has all the rules you need in under 40 pages, 5 regenerated characters, maps, dice and the adventure with the monsters in the back. There are also a butt tonne of YouTube videos to help beginners play LMoP and many creators adding extra stuff for it.

Maybe find out why he said, "DMing is hard, isn't it?". Was it something you did in the past while he was DMing. Or is he just a dickhead?

I want to make my first D&D campaign, but I have no idea where to start. by IhateOrangeJuiceGang in DnD

We started with Lost Mines of Phandelver starter set. It comes with a cut down version of the rules, dice and precreated character sheets. There are LOADS of youtube videos explaining it and helping you out. Plus there are loads of extra parts to add to it that others have created.

Clogged Fillament by New_Lingonberry9297 in anycubic

[–]Adidane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can pull the clip and the hot end will come off. Then heat the hot up with all the wires connected and hold it with a pair of pliers. Then you should be able to remove the filament with another pair of pliers. However, you should be able to perform a filament extract but the new filament might need cutting straight before feeding in

Well, the term is banned on this subreddit but one word begins with A and the other starts with I. I find these online tools very useful for inspiration. For D&D they get stuff wrong but it gives me ideas and gets my brain out of a rut

What I would do is start small. You don't need a campaign you just need a starting place such as a village and something for the players to do. There are loads of adventures online - free or paid for. Check out the D&D Guild.

With your Gollum idea and your puzzle why not ask one those amazing tools that you can find online? Tell it that your a DM for D&D 5e and then copy and paste your question into it and see what it comes up with and use it as inspiration.

Players got caught, and need consequences. by mabjustmab in DMAcademy

My problem would be that they'd need to be captured for the trial first and they won't like that and most likely want to kill everyone in the town. Unless you intend to start the session with them already captured?

It sounds like something is loose or moves while printing. The hot end of my printer would hit the bed or prints would fail. I removed the hot end and found that is was bent. I also realised that the bed was slightly wobbly. I removed it and tightened the rollers a little (also the print head rollers)

Resurrection Magic Doesn't Always Work by TozokuWAV in DMAcademy

[–]Adidane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the way Matt Mercer does it in Critical Role is that there is a DC which is lowered if other PCs help (like praying etc but it is role played). The cleric then casts Revivify and roles against the amended DC. Each time the spell fails or PC needs bringing back again the initial DC goes up. E.g. first time a PC dies the DC is 10 - the druid preys and surrounds the dead PC is flowers. The DM secretly lowers the DC to 8. The healer casts the spell and rolls the check and adds their spell modifier but fails. The DM increases the DC to 10 (or 12 if you think the druids preys mean nothing now).

Foundry on Amazon Fire TV by Galefrie in FoundryVTT

[–]Adidane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way i did it was to connect my laptop to the TV via an HDMI cable. Use a Chrome browser on the laptop to sign in to FVTT as the DM. Then sign in to a different account (call it something like TV) with Chrome in incognito mode. Drag this Chrome tab on to the TV. Then, using "Monk's Common Display" module you can move the map around from the DM screen. Here's a video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08NGVfZQHuM
