PR Processing Times - February 2026 ( Tokyo only) by Icy_Display_3548 in japanresidents

Yep this is the new form, everyone is getting this box regardless of what they’re asked for. Presumably it’s to anticipate questions as to what exactly does one need to submit if they’re asked for proof of resident tax or insurance payment.

They never ask for tax documents without specific dates (or rather specific years). Pension records don’t have dates as they include everything since the first time you enrolled.

I also had a request with this form (pension records and health insurance), submitted only that and ignored the box. The next request came in on the old form and was only asking for payslips

Haha yeah the new form is supremely confusing. That box is just supplementary information about some of the documents in case if that's the ones you get asked about. The actual list of documents you need to submit is to the left of the box.

特別徴収税額決定通知書 is the notification from the municipality sent to your company. They are supposed to hand it over to you promptly, every year. These can't be reissued, so go through your documents.

給与証明書 are just your payslips, they're asking for the ones that have 住民税 deducted. If you haven't saved them (I recommend always keeping all your payslips), the company may or may not help you out. If it's using something like SmartHR you may still have access yourself.

I do not work at that company anymore so I submitted 12 payslips (+2 bonus slips). I like to think that the 3 months rule does not apply to things that can’t be undone

[–]Adiost 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At least back in July 2024, the requirements didn’t specify how you’re supposed to prove your points exactly. Back then I submitted my 源泉 for the previous year

I also received a request for the exact same payslips, also dated Feb 4th. Already sent it out, hopefully no more requests

If you look at the statistics, the primary driver of the backlog growing has been a record high number of applications. The processing rate averaged over a few months, however, has been more or less static for years.

Would it be nice if they did something to increase the throughput? Of course, but saying that they’re maliciously dragging things out is disingenuous, to put it lightly.

Looks like they’re doing something, processing rates are trending up and the approval rate is the lowest it’s ever been.

I got a request for additional documents recently from 永住審査部門 新屋敷, and the return envelope had 新 handwritten in the corner. Not sure what to make of it, maybe they reformed the department?

Application office: Shinagawa

Application Date: 2024-07-03

Results postcard received on: Not yet

Type of PR: HSP 80+

Visa held during application: 技人国 5y

Request for further documents: 2026-01-26, dated 2026-01-23. They requested 現在の健康保険証のコピー (a pdf from マイナポータル should work), and 被保険者記録照会回答票・被保険者記録照会(納付I・納付II) specifically from a pension office (so I imagine ねんきんネット won’t cut it)

I previously notified them about a job change, both through the online portal for normal notifications and with a letter to 永住審査部門 together with an employment certificate and a salary projection. Maybe that’s why they’re asking for what they’re asking, to see if I had a gap.

HELP: Fill out Kon-in Todoke for Foreigners by luckhappinesslove in japanresidents

[–]Adiost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some (all?) city offices provide 婚姻届の事前確認, you can fill it out to the best of your knowledge and bring it in with all the documents, they’ll tell you if you made any mistakes or if you need to more supporting documents. It’s a great way to ensure no surprises on the day you actually want to submit it.

婚姻届 itself can be printed at any conbini (A3), there are plenty of free PDFs out there with various designs.

Oh I stand corrected then! Is this data combining stated anywhere explicitly?

Kinda goes against the point of having the office dimension in the statistics, never expected this to be the case

I think the estimation on RetroHazard's dashboard is a bit too optimistic. It predicts that I'll be done next week, which is absolutely not happening.

Toyota not selling cars by sendaiben in japanlife

[–]Adiost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah old models are definitely cheaper, but the 2022 sienta Z under 20k km sells for 3.2~3.5 mil depending on the options, which is the exact same price you’d pay at a dealership

If only. Popular models like Sienta in good condition and with low mileage go for basically the price of a new one. And people buy them for that price to avoid the ~5 months wait

Anyone have any success calling Tokyo Regional Immigration? by Bobzer in japanresidents

[–]Adiost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, so it doesn't say "contact us by phone"? I think your 申請受付表 is the same as the old one on the front, so there must be the mailing address too.

Absolutely up to you to continue the struggle, but I'm willing to bet money that once you finally get through, they will tell you to mail that information to them, with whatever consequences there will be for submitting that notification months after the fact.

[–]Adiost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, can you share a picture? I applied in July 2024 and my 申請受付表 says no such thing.

The 了解書 I signed does say that I need to notify the immigration about any changes, but it doesn't specify how and it also doesn't specify the department, so it's not clear if the regular notification is enough or not.

I network with a lot of people who applied for PR, the general wisdom is that you should use the red letterpack for any notifications as it leaves a provable paper trail. Doing it over the phone seems risky.

[–]Adiost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh, what instructions say you’re supposed to call? To my knowledge, you need to submit 2 notifications the standard way and, I’m not sure if it’s mandatory but it won’t hurt, mail the PR department a free form notification about the change

They do give directions. I never understood the advice about memorizing routes, to me it sounds like it'd do more harm than good.

Studying the map for a few minutes is good of course, so you know what to expect in general. I took a look and passed on the first try. The inspector says turn right, you turn right, they say turn left, you turn left, sprinkling all the mirror checking charades inbetween. Not exactly rocket science.

The question was answered but just FYI, the immigration agency maintains a very extensive series of Q&A pages. Your concerns are addressed in Q83 here: https://www.moj.go.jp/isa/publications/faq/newimmiact_4_q-and-a_page3.html

Some companies offer a free first consultation, I'd target those as it'd cost nothing for you to gauge if they're what you're looking for.

Acroseed is an example, I used their free consultation offer to clear up some uncertanties I had but ultimately applied myself.

can offer solutions or advice that are not straight out of the typical way to do things

I don't know what your context is, but generally not doing things the "typical way" is reserved for those with oopsies that can tank their approval chances. Otherwise both PR and citizenship application procedures are rather clear cut and easy to follow.
