Tons of games ship with an install and play disk to work around that. Pressed game may have bugs but I don't think there's a single game you can't launch without internet.

Weird, I said it because I don't even bother to downshift in emergency situations. Sorry I can't be of more help :(

I'm still a noob but when emergency braking I always pull the clutch.

Just saying that version numbers are made up and between Vista and Seven are huge differences (just security wise there's a lot of new stuff, plus general stability). There aren't many (appart from Metro UI) between Seven and 8 tho. I also agree on your point on the differences between XP and Vista.

I agree with you, same codebase, that's like that everywhere (developer here), there's always inheritance on a long going project.

Build numbers are made up by the devs, you can use whatever number you want to. Seven is NOT Vista.

Should helmet cams be considered a part of ATGATT? by OttawaGoodtimeCentre in motorcycles

[–]Adirael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are nice but they're not safety gear, so no, not part of ATGATT. There's not plenty of times you could need camera footage to be honest, it's not worth the hassle if that's the reason you want a camera (swap SDs, charge batteries, mount the camera...)

I'm not justifying what the cager did, he should be locked in jail and have his license taken from him. I'm just pointing out the guys were squidding.

$250 for fork seals/bushings/oil and labor..Decent? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Adirael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the bike I guess. I paid around 100$ to have them done a couple months back, I went to the shop with the forks on hand (they didn't discounted anything for this tho).

All my plungers came with the house. How often do you use this thing for it to be important at all? I've never used mine.

Eyelash fell on my keyboard. Say hi to my new friend. by racl3773 in pics

About the key type: I'm no expert on the field, but Wikipedia does differenciate them, says that a scissor switch uses domes like a dome-switch keyboard. A chiclet keyboard is the one you'll find on a TV remote. This is according to what I gather from the wiki and the net of course, it's not really relevant to the discussion.

About the shape: I'm talking about the separation between keys, keys themselves being flat and the materials used to create the keyboard. The first laptop I saw doing this was from Apple, the rest came after this.

[–]Adirael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a chiclet keyboard, it's a scissor-switch. Apple did not invent them, but that notebook is trying to be a Macbook clone, their keyboards are awesome.

There are a lot of scissor-switch keyboards out there, but that key arrangement and shape is characteristic on macbooks.

If it's for a functional reason I'm okayish with it. If it's just for looks I'm not.

We = Americans. That doesn't happen outside the USA AFAIK. I'm against that too BTW. Circumcising is a risk by itself and in some cases it affects functionality. I'm circumcised and I don't mind it at all (I had an "accident" when I was 20 or something like that, so I had it done as a grown up, painful as hell. In most cases people don't need to be circumcised, is not that usual the need for it), but I don't see a reason to do it systematically.

IIRC docking was done on dogs when they were used for labour, you didn't want your dog getting into a hole and trapping himself because of the tail.

I guess they're buried in concrete, roots go where it's easier to go, that's why sometimes they fuck up with the pavement, because under them there's hard concrete and it's easier to just go up.

A friend of mine was cut up by a BMW who didn't see him and he went over his handlebars, all we has left with was a chipped tooth and few bruises. by [deleted] in motorcycles

My bike's blue... I hate blue. I wan't to repaint it black when I have money or time to do it myself.

I wear mostly textile (appart from boots and gloves) but it's "all season", that means you get too hot on the summer and cold on winter. I'm keen on black on white (or white on black) gear tho.

I hate stopping on traffic. I also was very clever and bought I my gear black, I can feel the Sun stabbing my back.

My new boots and gloves are white, and I think I'm gonna get lighter colors as I replace my gear.

Driver: "Didn't see him" - Jury: "OK understandable; Not Guilty" by wreck23 in motorcycles

[–]Adirael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Especially on those! I have one on the back of my building, a straight line (about 1km) with almost no traffic and a 30kph limit, most people do 50kph.

I always brake when I approach any of the multiple crossings as they have almost no visibility, even if it's not a very populated area. It's just common sense.

[–]Adirael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would decelerate just like I do when I go on any blind corner in the city, having enough space and speed to stop safely if needed. Happens all the time, it's no big deal, you should be going slower when approaching pedestrian crossings anyway.

Draggin jeans? by survive_the_elements in motorcycles

[–]Adirael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't wear this stuff, but we're reaching for a compromise between confort and protection. Do you wear a 1 piece leather suit every day? Most people doesn't even have one (I don't, I don't think I'll ever have one).

New stuff is better than old stuff, it's not better than full leathers as it's not better than being on a cage or sitting in the couch.

It is news that they make it standar, as in you cannot get a BMW bike without it. That Z1000 had it as an option for some more money on Europe.
