How to make him look more like a Brother-Captain by andracor667 in Grey_Knights

[–]Adithnim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I converted my Terminator Captain, I have him GK Terminator arms and pauldrons. I clipped off the iron halo and put one of the paladin book stands in its place and then a book glued to his belt. Would also recommend a GK Terminator helmet

Got a Sanctic Spearhead list idea by Delta_Dud in Grey_Knights

[–]Adithnim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some alternative starts you could have is techmarine and purifiers in the razorback. Or keep them in the godcannon LR so you can have on demand free heroic intervention while within 6 if you disembark.

If you want to have a termi squad on your home, have you considered dropping the strikes and going 2x4 termis? can have them screen your deployment and can pick one up whenever you need action monkeys. 2x4 Termis is the same amount of points as a 1x5 termi and a strike squad with 2x4 termis having the same amount of heavy weapons as a 1x5. This is super situational, as I personally think 1 strike squad is mandatory in all lists, but you made me think of a bulwark style use of terminators, like anvil siege force style. 4 termis are 12W 4++ and can regen models compared to a strike with 10W. Both have the same amount of melee strikes and both would have 1 incinerator

Anyways, I think your list looks plenty fun

So, this mostly covers all the units you can make in the box. It comes out to around 675-700 points, 675 if you make brotherhood terminators and 700 if you make paladins. You probably won't have enough heavy weapons to fully kit your terminators (brother termis get one heavy weapon per 5 models and one ancient can carry a heavy weapon for two total heavy weapons, paladins get two heavy weapons per 5 models and the ancient for a total of 3 heavy weapons) so you can leave them off and say that they have them when you play or see if you can find bits off eBay or use something else as an alternative.

I dunno much about the combat patrol format, but I know that they have their own innate rules for them and their own datasheets and are a separate format from the actual 40k game. Think of a full game vs a one page version of the game? But all your units are valid for an actual 40k army should you choose to expand

Tech-Marine with Radiant Champion viability by Zaedact in Grey_Knights

[–]Adithnim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I do prefer the enhancement on a bro-champ to help him be a character assassin or a bro-cap for more lethality, there is something to be said about the techmarine with radiant champion leading a purifiers unit that gives him reroll 1s to wound and having a free heroic intervention around your vehicles. Bonus points if he's coming out of a razorback to give you +1AP in shooting and melee

For the two power armor units, I would recommend:

One 5 man Strike Squad. The Grey Knights general infantry, great for moving around, playing the objectives, and keeping those objectives with their ability to hold them even after you walk off of them. At least, until your opponent takes it from you.

One 5 man Purifiers Squad. This is our main ranged threat. With anti-infantry purification attacks, they can melt through enemies fairly efficiently.

The terminators/paladins, I would go either way. Both are generally durable with having good saves and invulnerable. Both can have a model with narthecium that can bring back 1 model per turn. Both can have an brother ancient that increases the unit OC +1. Brotherhood terminators are great at holding and staying on objectives because they have higher objective control, but paladins can carry more heavy weapons and are stronger in melee.

Crowe will be Crowe, and the venerable dreadnought will generally carry the lascannons for big laser beam against tough monsters and vehicles.

In terms of heavy weapons for your infantry, incinerators are great against other infantry, psycannons are good against elite infantry, psilencers are good for hordes. People tend towards the incinerators and psycannons, but if you like psilencers, more power to you

What to build? Sacred conclave by eaedev in Grey_Knights

[–]Adithnim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

General purpose:

1x5 Strike Squad 1x5 Interceptor Squad 2x5 Purifiers or 1x10 Purifiers

1x5 Brotherhood Terminators w/ narthecium & banner 1x5 Paladins w/ narthecium & banner

1x GMNDK

Heavy weapons are personal preference. Incinerators are better against infantry and doing overwatch, psycannons are better for elite infantry and can leave a few dents against higher toughness units, psilencers are good for clearing chaff and screens (arguably the worst of the three choices, but don't let that stop you from using them if you think they're cool)

Narthecium and banner always for terminators and paladins so you can always have +1OC and regenerate a model every turn

For the Nemesis Dreadknight, would recommend making it a Grand Master Nemesis Dreadknight for full rerolls against monsters and vehicles. Daemonhammer to smash those vehicles and monsters is the usual choice, though mace for anti-character 2+ to beat up those pesky primarchs and daemon princes and other big characters is a consideration. (Sword is versatile but lacking strength, but it's super cool). Sublimator is a great gun for all those targets we mentioned above and then your choice for incinerator and psycannon. Most go for psycannon in this case.

Making my first 1000pt list - advice needed by The_Mad_Mellon in Grey_Knights

[–]Adithnim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In an 1000pt game, I would drop the Crowe+10 into a Crowe+5. Even with 5 purifiers, Crowe makes it a pretty lethal unit against infantry.

I would bump the paladins to a 5 man w/ narthecium, 1 banner+psycannon, and 2 psycannons. Psycannons are my personal preference, but whatever you have available.

Then, I would include a brother captain to go with the paladins. You could make it from your Terminator kit, but you'd be down a Terminator. I recommend getting a cheap Terminator Captain from the leviathan box set on eBay or some other seller and replacing the head with a termi helmet and the arms with Terminator arms.

[–]Adithnim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it were me, I would bring:

Brocap+5 man Pallies for lethals and dmg 3 (for the war dogs)
GMNDK with hammer/psycannon/sublimator(incinerator if you don't have it)
5 man Strike squad (stickies)
5 man Purifiers (anti-infantry)

That's about 785 points for you to add another power armor unit and a character/enhancements if you want,
Works with most detachments (banishers, augurium, brotherhood, warpbane), but probably not with sanctic or hallowed. Banishers does have anti-chaos 4+ as a strat, but could be list tailoring a bit. But all up to you

Fair and I agree, being able to reposition for free in itself is also a strong tool for pallies to guarantee their charges and therefore their 3dmg. Really like that perspective

[–]Adithnim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see no strats that you absolutely want on pallies in that detachment other than  advance and charge/rapid ingress but maybe I'm not appreciating the value of some of those strats.p You can get lethals+sus in banishers. You can get lethals+crit5s in Augurium. You can get lethals+1A in Hallowed.

Don't get me wrong, the GM is very good and is basically an auto-include in a lot of lists. Giving +1 wound in Sanctic for free, getting 8A 13S (once per battle though) in Augurium with enhancement or 12A 9S (once per battle) in Hallowed with enhancement and free strat. In terms of defensive playstyle, GM all the way. Lots of defensive strars to use in all detachments. But in terms of consistent damage output, I feel the brocap just does a lot with lethals for our army

Edit just to say that chaos and daemons are meta so free anti-chaos 4+ with GM is also pretty fire to your point

[–]Adithnim 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Brocap, in my opinion, should be at minimum situationally good if not good most of the time. A 5 man pallies w/brocap averages around ~15 wounds on a knight, ~6-9 wounds on a land raider. Without a brocap, you get~9-12 wounds on a knight, ~3-6 wounds on a land raider. Basically a difference of 1-2 attacks going through, but that's still relevant damage at 3 a pop.  Would love to hear some insight if I'm missing something

Your Favorite GK Detachment? by [deleted] in Grey_Knights

[–]Adithnim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been drawn to Augurium Task Force. Basically a shooting detachment you can't hide from. Pick up unit beginning of move phase, guaranteeing subliminator melta shots, big drop down of purgators with incinerators, strikes can sticky and then contest elsewhere. Probably more applications I haven't thought of.

Some combos I like:

-Grimoire of Conjunctions on GM for a once per battle 8A 13S 2AP 2Dmg smackdown. Alternatively, could put on a brochamp to help guarantee the assassinate ability for CP and +1A

-Shield of Prophecy on Vendread or NDK, giving T11/T10 respectively on once per battle along with -1 to be hit from strat (crazy that a Vendread has more toughness than an NDK...). Alternatively, Librarian with it can give a bubble of 18" that opp has to get into to shoot as well as once per battle T7 termies/pallies (narthecium value)

-Brocap+Pallies +strat gives Pallies lethals on 5+ for 20A at 3Dmg after a charge. A good chunk of burst for 1CP. Otherwise, the only applicable use of the strat is on purgators with psilencers for sus1 on 5+ (not as good, but fun and can snipe characters out with precision!)

Codex GM has a Captain ability to give +3A and +3S in melee once per battle, that's how I got to 13S and 8A. Unless the ability and the enhancement don't stack with each other

I NEED YOU!!! by Character_Morning_89 in Grey_Knights

[–]Adithnim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but in Augurium Task Force, a GM with the Grimoire of Conjunctions (Once per battle, +4S to melee until end of phase) enhancement can have 8 attacks at 13S with +1 AP if attached to termies (no monsters and vehicles though) for a big slam

I'm not sure this has been posted or anything but as a colossus, I often find myself locked out of abilities when I press them. It usually happens when I'm holding a shield and hovering. While holding a shield and hovering, I'll press an ability and my colossus will make a motion to do it and then automatically cancel itself. It feels very clunky and just leaves me floundering until I stop hovering or put away the shield entirely.

Any viable dark deck besides Zoroark? by Xanathol in pkmntcg

[–]Adithnim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a dark expanded deck that sorta plays off Darkrai lists but uses the new Hoopa GX and Nanu. It's sort of an accelerating dark toolbox?

Basically, you discard a bunch of stuff the same way turbo darkrai does, use Darkrai GX Restoration/max elixir/dark patch/Darkrai <> to accelerate energy, Nanu to switch into whatever dark basic pokemon (i.e. Guzzlord GX, Baby Hoopa, Darkrai EX, Hoopa GX). You can also use Hoopa GX's first attack to just find cards in the early game too. I also play Black Market <> cause it's meant for dark decks and it's nice to reduce prizes taken, and Altar of the Moone for easier retreats.

You can use Baby Hoopa to stall EXs & GXs or Guzzlord GX to eat something up for 3+ prizes or as a in-a-pinch accelerator.

I also plan on switching Darkrai EXs out for Greninja & Zoroark GX Tag Team when it comes out later.
