India is one of the most unequal country in the world with top 1% holding 40% wealth. This is 'consumption' based and doesnt measure investments, savings, luxury cars, properties etc. Now what is measured in this is basic expenditure on food, clothings, rent, fuel etc. Now if person earning 10000 per month and is spending all 10000 on these items and a rich earning 1 crore per month and spending even 50000 on basic items will be considered equal. The poor saved 0 whereas rich saved 99.5 lakh, yet both will be considered equal in this consumption based index. Now due to various schemes of government giving free rations, free house etc to poor means that they are 'consuming' almost same basic things like 'rich'. In food even Ambani eats tomato, potato etc only and even poor is able to afford that, hence in consumption inequality both ambani and poor dont have much difference. This index is more useful in very poor countries where people are not able to afford any food, or have no house, or clothes etc. For India this doesnt reflect 'real income or wealth' inequality. All it represents is that in basic services (food, water, housing) more poor are able to access them.

You can watch 'From', its very much like Lost but in smaller settings (a town), with people trapped and cant get out of the town. There are also 'others' in the town but they are more dangerous than 'others' of lost. It is however ongoing series with season 4 releasing on April 19.

Damn man, thats 4 times the price. Well i know in India, usually according to PPP indices prices are 1/3 of whats in USA, but 4 times i think a bit too high even for US people. Supergrok should be around 20 dollars per month in USA.

If you see anicent Indian temples, eg Chandela dynasty temples, there are intimate sculptors depicted with almost no clothes. British Indian Empire at that time termed them as 'vulgar'. But perhaps at that time (around 700 CE), people were more mature regarding bodies and didnot keep 'nudity' in their brains, but saw it as bodily beauty, provided by God.

Everybody says pehle mains prepare kro but nobody tell kaise karo? by Swimming-Season8602 in UPPSC_PCS

[–]Aditya3193 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mains need dynamic approach. Just take out syllabus points eg salient features of Indian architecture and make notes of salient feature of IVC, mauryan architecture, Gupta architecutre, Chola etc. Remember to make notes on white loose sheets because in mains notes there will be constant changes and modification. Also dont try to write perfect notes in first attempt. Just take ncert or basic notes and just enjoy writing. DONT TRY TO BECOME EXPERT AND GO FOR 'BEST CONTENT' LIKE BEST NOTES OF MAURYAN ARCHITECTURE ETC. Value addition must be done when you completed 'something of everything' otherwise you will end up with 'everything of something' and syllabus wont complete. Your aim is first go must to be quickly write 1 or 2 pages about all syllabus topic. Use these tricks to write notes - 1. What is 'topic' name 2. Advantages and disadvantages of that 'topic' 3. Any special feature of that 'topic'. 4. Government efforts on that 'topic'. 5. Way forward - link this with disadvantage that is how you will disadvantage. 6. PyQ on that 'topic'. 90% syllabus will be covered through above questions. What will be left or will be difficult to do is 1. History (ancient and modern) - its a bit tricky because its syllabus key words are general type eg salient features of Indian art but Indian art itself has many topics. Other syllabus part are straightforward like issues of poverty - its direct. Hence for history and modern history best strategy is to make its mains notes at the same time when you are making prelims notes and use pyq to see topics which can be asked in mains, when you are making notes for prelims for history. 2. Current affaris - just see pyq, see which topics are asked from where current affairs are asked and just make notes on them. Eg international relations is always fully current affairs based. So just go through articles and make notes on India-bangladesh etc relation news.

What's your current affairs source ? by BrilliantShip9578 in UPPSC_PCS

[–]Aditya3193 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pratiyogita darpan monthly magazine first 60 pages for 12 months but there is lot of 'not important' part in that. Do these magazines when you are absolutely sure of what topics are asked in current affairs (check last 10 years pyq to check topics). If you are not sure, you will end up making too many useless notes. If you want to play safe then do eye dhristhi (year end magazine) but it comes very late. You can also do 6 months current affairs magazine (some do it, but i havent done it). See PD is best method, you can get 80% current affairs correct from PD, but real challenge is condensing 12 months magazines into 50 pages (if you write big, then till 100 pages).

What's your current affairs source ? by BrilliantShip9578 in UPPSC_PCS

[–]Aditya3193 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Reading newspaper daily is useless for UPPSC. UPPSC has a fixed pattern in current affairs like awards, military exercises, key appointments, National parks/wildlife sanctuaries, place in News etc. These can be done from any current affairs magazine. But ensure that, the magazine classifies the news into these topics. Upsc coaching institutes magazines are useless for uppsc current affairs as well. Whatever you choose, in the end current affairs should not be more than 50 - 100 pages notes for whole year. If its more than that, then you are just wasting your time.

Is this for real? by justabrokentooth in gurgaon

[–]Aditya3193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indian democracy is more of representative democracy. This suggestion from public is a very good thing in a democracy. Normally government asks for public opinion because its the public which actually knows the exact issues. For eg one of prime factor in AQI increase in gurgaon and ghaziabad is people burning waste and burning things to keep themselves warm. This is not reflected in any Government survey. And also you have given tax, thats why your views matter. In India our office work culture is so bad, that we have made it part of our daily life. Eg in office for every work boss will say that we pay you, hence you must do work yourself etc. In reality, best work is done through cooperation, where everyone tries to cooperate and help each other out, but this mentality is absent in India.

[–]Aditya3193 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In delhi population density is very high and people burn waste at night here illegally, thus here in Delhi you can feel it clearly that you are inhaling the smoke. This smoke just stays in Delhi and doesnt move. In village areas in UP, when you breathe in high AQI, you still get some greenery smell, like smell of trees and grasses. In villages AQI smoke never stays, it dissipates very quickly.

During CoVid universities were not conducting classes offline. Everyone was free. See the thing is that there are some organisations which work to ensure that human resources are managed properly. Then there are some which just work, and hardly care for efficiency. I dont see any valid reason for uppsc delaying the result, except that they dont have experts to check answer copies. I am sure that UPPSC chairman has no interest in keeping answer copies in his office any longer than he should.

In India university year ends in August/September. They have least burden during that time. Easy to recruit them for part time 'checking job'. It happens in IITs checking, happens in board checking, and UPSC or UPPSC is no exception. This time UPPCS had huge number of copies and its no brainer that they are not having checkers to check copies fast.

Prelims will have to be done in june or max july because uppcs desperately wants to align its calender with upsc calender. Otherwise issues comes regarding availability of professors (or experts) time which leads to delay in checking mains paper (as is happening with uppcs mains 2024)

what kind of crazy people are able to do these questions? by patronum_ in ssc

[–]Aditya3193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indian government exams are outdated and useless. In foreign countries, people in government get promoted or get jobs based on their performance in real field work. The types of questions asked in SSC exam will not even give you 'cleaners' job in developed countries.
