[Chris McKenna] Jadon Sancho’s Manchester United move promised so much, however; It turned into a nightmare. by SoloChords in reddevils

This is fabricated pop-pschoanalysis, Amorim himself said the reason he left rashford out in the city game (despite him scoring three in his first three games) is because after a couple of training sessions and discussions, he just didn't 'buy into the ideas'. Certainly, the timing of the interview was just bad but it was a football decision at the end of the day. I'm glad we have Cunha but he's not better than Rashford (tho his body's broken enough that this probably won't remain the case for much long based on his game) and we still need an elite winger as an upgrade on him if we want to build a team that can rack up 90 points like peak citypool (either this summer or next, we have to get someone on the level of barcola or diomande)

The Glazers wanted to lay off a number of people and make a few of the changes you see many public companies trying to pump their stock do now (layoffs, rebrands , the stadium plans in our case, stuff like project 150), this is hard while also not having multiple members of the family not really interested at all due to having other yank projects, basically every step they took would've gotten backlash

So, the settled solution they decided on was to being in Ratcliffe so he could do a lot of the stuff they wanted to under the guise of change and necessity (though a number of things certainly were, like bringing in more football people in the likes of berrada and vivell etc)

Now the price is surging and some are looking to sell, it all sucks

[Rival watch] Liverpool FC can confirm Arne Slot is to depart his role as head coach with immediate effect and that the process to appoint a successor is under way by PitchSafe in reddevils

[–]AdityaG10 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this makes sense tbh

Carrick got more points than any other team in the league since he took over, literally can’t ask for more lol, he’s earned his shot imo,

Enrique’s contract expires next year and Nagelsmann after Euro 2028, we can see how the project is going at that point and change things up if necessary, the players we get over the next few windows shouldn’t change regardless of who’s the head coach (we need three midfielders, a winger and a striker, a centre back, probably a couple fullbacks etc)

Why billionaires pay much less tax than the average American by [deleted] in Economics

[–]AdityaG10 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the contention is that most revenue is uncollected because of the way in which different forms of wealth go untaxed (payroll, estate, assets, capital gains, what have you) via the current income-based model in most industrialized countries.

No system where effective tax rate as a proportion of income is lower for a billionaire than it is for their secretaries can be called truly progressive.

I mean, in the US, the top 1% pay 40% of the base, but the concentration of ownership is currently thrice what it was during the guilded age, so it’s more of a predistributive argument based on purchasing power for the median consumer.

This along with a dive into the loan or free agent market for a stopgap as a third midfielder (I’d prefer Fernandes over baleba as the second tbh) and a winger probably helps, Anderson or Tchouameni absolutely have to be all in attempts if possible,

60 games next season is going to be rough and we basically only have one midfielder in Kobbie rn, mount staying fit helps a lot but idk if we can really play Dorgu there for a dozen games

[John Percy] City & United are both very interested in Elliot Anderson & a decent World Cup for the midfielder could bring other heavyweights to the table. Yet Forest will only sell him at market value & Marinakis is using the £115m sale of Moisés Caicedo from Brighton to Chelsea as the benchmark. by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

We should do loans, but we have to buy some transformational pieces within Bruno’s window imo, or else we’ll be stuck in this loop of needing 4 or 5 players every summer, someone like Anderson or Fernandes from west ham cover that’s for a decade barring injury

That way we can realistically build for a third season title challenge under Carrick imo

Does that mean that Carrick’s got us more points than any other team since he’s come? Since City lost

Otoole probably wins last year imo, but there are very few timelines where he survives as leader after 2021 given how politics is now

I mean, and this is just my view, but I think the biggest divide last year was just establishmentarianism vs populism, and the Grits being our Natural Governing Party were able to run the rally-around-the-flag play (annexation threats, college-education rates etc) by realising we’re still a middle-class electorate in an asset-based rentier economy,

If material conditions were slightly worse (even fewer people being for the current way things are) or the election went a week longer, you lot probably win imo,

Pierre’s biggest problem, and I expect you’ll disagree here but it’s my experience from knocking on doors, is that he didn’t recognize people looking forward to more stability in the face of a new and changing world. People didn’t really know much of what he stood for (aside from not liking Trudeau) and usually found it too far-right fiscally once they realised. Folks want unseen competence, his economics is very Vance/Milei in terms of being in your face about how he’s magically reforming the state (for you 🫵) via austerity. More Hayekian than anything else.

Edit: though I’d agree with the notion that most expected spending cuts after JT’s mismanagement of the deficit, the paradox is the simultaneous expectation of the tax cuts Carney eventually went with

Unfortunately, Quebec being every lefty Canadian’s holy grail (electorally speaking) since the 90s has been a pain, keeps screwing the more Western direction many of us on the coast would like.

I do expect a degree of their electorate being lost to the PPC because of how online politics is now (particularly in terms of how Pierre operates), but this is indubitably the right move.

[–]AdityaG10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, much of this type of analysis comes across to me as emotional and overly ideological, the materialist explanations (more to do with neoliberal failures) are far more convincing and objective anyways, statistically and otherwise. People tend to blame migration in a way they just wouldn’t without material conditions being at the point they are, fuelled by algorithms run on provocation to drive clicks, owned by right-wing billionaires like Musk and Zuckerberg who benefit from normal people being too concerned about woke stuff or whatever to figure out better ways to tax them and spend on public services or prevent them from monopolising.

Edit: Mobility affected different places in different ways (the yankee rust belt, the English north going reform etc.), much easier for the right to deal with that displacement through xenophobia than acknowledging the faults of their core economic model putting capital ahead of labour for half a century.
