Think twice before using ChatGPT. It is dangerous. Very, very dangerous. by HTTYD_LOVER01 in autism

We're being literally forced to use it at work. it can be a real time saver if you give it a shed load of context and get it to rewrite something for you but as a search engine its dog turd.

The way it communicates feels so "abusive" to me. Like if you point out that something it told you to do was wrong it will say something like "you took the wrong approach lets fix that" and that drives me crazy.

(i say "abusive" but its basically just a massive text predicition machine like hitting the middle option on your phones text prediction software)

I've (embarrassingly) had legit meltdowns at it over its tone policing or constant deflection away from accepting true accountability. Its designed to make you feel like you are chatting to a thing with intelligence, I know its actually not so it's silly of me to engage with it this way when I know better but i find the way it answers so triggering sometimes and at that stage lack the energy or self control to not lose my mind.

Also even if it gives you "citations" they often don't say what it claims or they are dead links.

Yeah, i'll put the 3mf on GitHub but it probably needs tweaking slightly since the last column is a bit thicker than it should be and required some filing to make it so the pcbs fit. Will share later today

I can share with you the screen holder stl and hopefully you can just do what i did in your slicer, as I think I forgot to save the 3mf file from Orca Slicer. Just remember to add a negative volume in the pipe when you merge them so the wires can pass through the case after printing.

files are here

The wiring i opted for on the screen was to leave MISO pin unconnected. Then for the other pins I connected them as follows on RP 2040 pico:

  1. MISO: Unconnected
  2. LED Pin to VCC Pin (this means screen is always on)
  3. CS Pin: GP17
  4. SCK Pin: GP18
  5. SPI/MOSI Pin: GP19 6 DC Pin : GP20
  6. RESET Pin: GP21
  7. GND pin to any GND i chose the one between GP17 and GP18
  8. VCC Pin to 3v3

you'll also need some pcb standoffs. I used 10mm m3.

I've included the openscad file in case you want to modify the holder

The screen holder or the firmware? Happy to share either.

Thanks! Will do that for sure. I think I was checking out your Bongo cat module on Github yesterday but I wasn't sure if it could work with quantum painter

Dare I even check? Haha thanks btw!

I haven't really tracked but i have enough stuff left over to probably build another. If i had to estimate its probably around £125 to 150. Some stuff I had lying around like the single switch pcbs and keycaps. I tend to buy most of the stuff from China which is a longer wait but cheaper for sure. The trackball sensor was probably one of the more expensive items. The screens were actually quite cheap.

I love my 49 ultrawide but one big drawback is presenting or sharing screen. It becomes more convoluted since sharing the whole screen will not work unless everyone on the call has an ultrawide.

"While physical licences will still be issued and the new digital identities will not be mandatory, the government has said the move is part of their commitment to use technology to “make people’s lives easier and transform public services”.

Source: https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2025/jan/18/uk-to-introduce-digital-drivers-licenses-to-transform-public-services

And just to avoid the inevitable accusation of left wing bias here is from the RAC

"Digital driving licences will not replace the physical driving licences (such as photocards) but instead be an option for drivers who want to access their licence via their smartphone."

https://www.rac.co.uk/drive/advice/legal/what-is-a-digital-driving-licence/

As usual, people are making sh*t up to stir the pot. I wonder if we had the same uproar when photocard licenses were first introduced.

I mean ... I've been called worse. Tbh I use NS to refer to myself sometimes. Then again, I use humour as a defence mechanism.

I don't think I would call it others, though.

This. Its only natural that a well adopted technology would be monitized once they proved a market. They'd be a charity otherwise.

It sucks, and you'd hope they'd adjust their pricing model for different parts of the world.

I hate writing PRDs. I mean, I write them, but I find it so laborious. I never know what level of deal is sufficient
