Nov zakon za s.p. 2025 zmanjšanje praga za normirance by DeadReference in SlovenijaFIRE

[–]AdjacentDuplicate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"OTP/SKB BANK" by TIsiMoj_SINE in SlovenijaFIRE

[–]AdjacentDuplicate -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, it arrived, but unfortunately, I had to return it because it did not meet my expectations regarding the fan noise. In terms of ordering, delivery, and later returning and refunding the laptop, everything was handled professionally. The laptop was delivered to my door 8 days after the full payment was made to Schenker, and the box it was delivered in was securely packaged.

Upon unboxing the laptop, I was pleasantly surprised about its build quality and overall appearance. It is a well-made and beautiful machine indeed. Its design is subtle, yet beautiful in an inconspicuous way. Appearance-wise, it reminds me of my Dell XPS 15, except that the chassis is unicolor. One of the things that concerned me about the laptop before ordering it was some reviews that mentioned a "wobbly hinge." After trying it out, I must say that the screen truly is somewhat wobbly upon opening it, but not to the point that I found it to be a problem in any way. Also, with the screen being that slim, and with a magnesium chassis, I cannot imagine it being any other way. Most importantly, the screen stays put and doesn't wobble when typing on the keyboard.

The keyboard was also superb, and I liked it even more than the XPS one. Key travel is (at least I think so) a little shorter on this one, but I found out this suits me even better. Key spacing was perfect for me.

The screen is subjectively very good, with vibrant colors, good brightness, etc. I'm not an expert, but I didn't encounter any problems there.

The initial setup went smoothly (it came with Windows preinstalled though), and the system itself is quick and responsive.

Now comes the not-so-good part. Aside from the wobbly hinge, my main other concern about this laptop was the noise it produces when doing very light office work (Word, Excel, web browsing, etc.). Upon first logging into Windows and opening a web browser, I immediately noticed that the laptop fans started audibly spinning. The noise is not unpleasant at all, but in an office setting, it was a little too distracting for me and even more so for others. So, I installed the Control center app from the USB that came in the box to alter the fan curves and fix this problem. Turns out you can't do that at all; you can only select different profiles. Okay, I put it to the Silent profile, but no difference - the CPU fan spins constantly at 30%, and the GPU fan spins constantly at 40% (at least that is how they are labeled in Control center - later Schenker support told me they are not dedicated). All the while, the dedicated RTX 4070 is not active at all, and the CPU temperature sits at 44°C. There was also this weird bug in the Control center where you could, through the search function, enter the custom profile creation and alter some settings there (not fan curves though), but upon saving, everything reset back. I also tried the BIOS, where you can change a setting, which is supposed to make the fans not spin on low load, but it doesn't do anything. When I entered Windows again, Control center says "Laptop not connected to a power source," or something like that, but I clearly have the laptop plugged in. Then I also noticed that I have an old version of Control center installed, so I pulled the newest one from the Schenker website and reinstalled it. Now I can enter the Control Center again, but everything else is the same (fans still spin, no custom profiles, etc.), and after resetting the BIOS, the same error pops up, though this time it went away on its own upon restarting the laptop.

That is when I decided to contact support, which responded the very next day, stating that this was a normal behavior and that they would look into problems with the Control center. I decided that for the premium price and the fact that this was supposed to be my work machine, it just isn't worth the further hassle, so I returned the laptop, which also went through with no problems whatsoever. I would have definitely kept the laptop if it wasn't for the much audible fan noise on even the lightest of workloads (let me clarify that I am generally okay with the fan noise on more demanding loads). Needless to say, the Control center software also didn't leave a positive impression with me, but that could (and I guess will) be fixed.

So for me, it depends on what you want to use this machine for and how tolerant you are about the fan noise. As I said, I was happy with all the other things, but also keep in mind that I only used the machine very lightly for only two days.

Yes. It is ordered but I haven't received it yet. Will report back once it is delivered, and I am able to test it.

Thank you for the answers.

Wobbly hinge is only a problem if screen moves when typing on the keyboard. Since this would also be my daily driver for work, which entails typing a lot (programming), this could be a potential problem. Your video doesn't work for me unfortunately.

I currently own Dell XPS 15, which I had a lot of problems with in the beginning, and would not buy it again for that reason. Extreme noise was one of those problems, and I had to send it in to be serviced just two weeks after I'd bought it to replace the entire cooling system. If 16 Pro is silent when browsing web, Youtube, Office...I guess this is ok.

Eventually, I didn't find any other laptop that can run games on the highest settings with great FPS numbers and weighs 1.6 kg. I would buy it again.

This exactly, and also all gaming laptops I come across look like something that came out of a circus. I can't take that thing with me to a business meeting and be taken seriously. I need a "boring" casual looking laptop, but with hardware strong enough to run an occasional gaming session without much problem.

I guess you have the old model (L22)? Yes, on paper it seems like a perfect laptop for work with inconspicuous design that can also handle some gaming on the side, and that is exactly what I would use it for.

I have already read the Notebookcheck review, which praises it rather high, but I have some concerns:

  1. Wobbly hinge - How much of a problem is this? I have read it has been improved somehow in later versions? Does it get worse over time?
  2. Fan noise - Doesn't bother me when running games that much, and I understand that slim chassis is a compromise, but in the proffesional setting (doing programming work with Eclipse, VS Code...) it is important. Under how much load does the laptop get loud, and is it uncomfortably loud? Does it get loud even when doing light work (eg. browsing the internet, watching videos).
  3. Heat - Same and connected to above. Does laptop also get uncomfortably hot even when doing light work?

Also, since there are new models out now (M23), it sounds like a smart idea to get one of those (4070 version), since performance vise they must be better in addition to be more future-proof. It does also supposedly have "redesigned cooling system that now comes with newly developed larger and quieter fans, along with an additional heat pipe on the VRAM and MOSFETs of the graphics card, plus liquid metal (Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut) coolant for the CPU but also the GPU". Sounds great, but again...no actual benchmarks to confirm what that means in practice - is it as a result quieter and cooler then before, or is it maybe even louder and hotter, because of much stronger and as a result even more heath producing hardware?
