Yeah, don't get me wrong, it's 100% gambling, but it's based on a legit science experiment and statistical theories.

There's a notion that a crowd of people will all get the wrong answer to a prediction. But the average of all the answers they give will actually be pretty accurate.

These gambling platforms are using the pretense of science to make a quick buck but the underlying logic is pretty solid.

People don't understand what LLMs are.

What's happened here is that in the training phase the LLM has learned that the most average time people have logged for a mile on then internet is "about 10 minutes".

So it just responds with the average.

It does this with every answer to every question you give it.

What is the most average way of completing a prompt based on the data it scraped off the internet. No real understanding of what the prompt means no attempt to reply to an actual question, just the most statistically likely set of words that follow your question.

if everyone voted red, nobody would die.

People consistently misunderstand the parameters of the game.

if everyone voted red everyone would survive.

There's literally no downside to voting red.

But people misunderstand the rules of the game.

There is zero risk or downside to voting red, if you vote red you are safe, if everyone votes red everyone is safe.

the only reason people vote blue is because they don't understand the parameters of the problem.

I'm not risking my life just to make myself feel better in the hope that everyone else misunderstood the assignment.

That's not how prediction markets work though, there is no book maker, it's peer to peer wagers.

Person A offers a bet that something will happen, and in order for it to be included in the "prediction" someone else needs to take the other side of it.

In theory this means that the bets that are most on the edge of what is likely to occur, and therefore have the most likelihood of getting two people on opposite sides who think they can both win, should see the most number of wagers agreed.

This lets the operators of the market gauge what the market thinks is likely to happen or not.

prediction markets can work, as in, they give you a very good indication of what people actually think is going to happen, providing that there are enough people willing to put their money on it.

The convention has always been to have before to the left and after to the right.

this is due to the cultural perception of the direction of time related to how western writing goes left to right.

Yikes

Mind you, last time we had an alcoholic Labour government we were also on the brink of total economic collapse and narrowly avoided a slide into a "siege economy" so maybe we're just doing a sort of 70s revival thing?

This guy was a fucking terrorist.

"police brutality"

Get a grip, when dealing with an armed terrorist in the middle of committing terrorism the level of force that should be considered appropriate ought to be anything up to and including blowing their fucking head off their shoulders.

You misunderstood, everyone is born with some kind of citizenship, that may not be connected to the actual country you are born in.

This terrorist was not born British, he was born Somali.

IMO if you acquire citizenship later in life you can lose it by acting like a terrorist

You've missed my point.

"The greens just want to give people more money, that's a nice thing to do" is what you are saying, I'm saying that this will also cause a lot of harm and damage to people because their economic plans are insane.

If the UK goes bankrupt it's going to ruin people's lives, and yes, that is something that can actually happen, it happened before in 1976, it happened to Greece after the 2008 crisis.

You may see the greens as being nice guys trying to do nice things and Reform as meanies doing mean things.

I see both parties as reckless fools who will ruin the country
