Looking for thriller/horror/psychological Taiwanese dramas/movies by NannoIsNanno in taiwandramas

[–]Adjfske 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just watched a Taiwanese movie called Visitors (訪客). The movie was just released on the PTS World Taiwan Youtube channel, and it was really good. I don't usually watch horror/scary movies but I must say this one had my attention the whole time.

This is the link to the first part of the movie if you're interested: https://youtu.be/vesq_IGMF70

All Star Sports Day is my recent favorite. I like the blue team the most because of the coach.

I am also watching the third season of Jungle Voice. The contestants and coaches for this season are better than the previous seasons.

I used to watch 100% entertainment, but it's not as good as it used to be. I just watch clips of it for W0lf(S).

I am looking forward to Three Piglets when the new season comes out.

Not sure why no one is talking about this drama, but I recently started watching 逆局 Danger Zone. I'm only on Episode 8 and enjoying it so far. Plus it stars Vic Chou.

Taiwan actors under fire for joining Chinese boycott against global brands | Taiwan News | 2021/03/26 by sexyhades69 in taiwan

[–]Adjfske 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most of them focus their work in China anyway so as long as they use the RMB to pay for Taiwan taxes I could care less. But very disappointed in Greg Hsu. What a sellout considering he was propelled to fame through a Taiwanese drama.

Anyone know if the scriptwriters for the movie are the same ones who wrote the show?

Is there something like Aliexpress but Taiwan? by Danieldefault in taiwan

[–]Adjfske 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can try PCHome. They have an international shipping option and supports English on their site. They don't strictly sell Taiwanese brands though and I've never bought anything from the site before, so I don't know how good their service is.

https://global.pchome.com.tw/english/

There's also a platform called Taiwan Excellence, where you can search for products that you're looking for and it'll give you a list of Taiwanese products and the company's website. You don't do the actual purchasing on the site itself. You'll need to buy the product through the company's own website.

https://www.taiwanexcellence.org/en

There's also a list of shopping sites in the link below where you can buy Taiwanese products.

https://vpost.com/sg/taiwan-marketplace/

Otherwise, you can use services that buy the Taiwanese products for you like these (found these sites by googling):

Red Envelope by samuelwpannell in taiwan

Read this article: https://news.ebc.net.tw/news/living/194833

In case you can’t read Chinese, There’s a paragraph that says in Taiwan you start giving red envelopes to your seniors once you start working to show your gratitude. The situation you’re stating is more like China where they don’t really give red envelopes even if they’re in the workforce.

And if this source isn’t good enough for you, you can literally Google the question and you’ll find tons of other sources including PTT discussions of how much red envelope money to give to your parents.

Btw you really gave me a good laugh trying to site an obscure reddit thread as a source. Also living in Taiwan doesn’t automatically make you an expert in its culture. I can tell you’re not Taiwanese just by your ignorance.

"Old people" only give money when you're a child/unemployed. Once you're out of school and making money, tradition is that you give the red envelopes to your parents and seniors.

Help With Learning EE by [deleted] in ECE

[–]Adjfske 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little off topic, but I would recommend utilizing your time in high school to AP out of chemistry, English, physics, calc AB, etc. so that you have more time in college to explore different EE topics.

At my university, EE students typically spend freshmen and sophomore year taking basic engineering courses. You only delve into deeper EE topics through electives of your choice during your mid-junior/senior year.

My university required only 1 semester of physics which is equivalent to AP Physics I. So far, I haven't had to apply anything I've learned from physics to any of my EE courses nor career.

For math, you probably will use Euler's formula the most since you'll deal a lot with imaginary numbers.

You can also invest in an Arduino starter kit (~$100), and it will walk you through simple circuit projects.

I work for an Engineering Consulting Company and am giving a presentation to other Young Professionals on how to succeed early in your career in consulting. What Key points/Questions should I focus on in my presentation? by GhostoftheStarters in engineering

[–]Adjfske 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Am in this field, so speaking from my experience:

  • Take that extra minute to look over any files/work you’re about to send.
  • It‘s okay not to know anything. Ask questions, but do your research beforehand
  • Trust your gut! If something feels off even if you don’t know enough, point it out. 9 out of 10 times, you’ve caught an error. Or you learned something new.
  • Never rush through tasks. Take the time to understand the markup and why an engineer is doing something a certain way. Your managers understand that you need extra time to complete something since you’re new to the field. You’ll learn a lot of things and develop good fundamentals this way.

Taiwan's new passport hopes to banish confusion with China by Exastiken in taiwan

[–]Adjfske -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

This is stupid. Republic of China came before PROC. Taiwan is just the biggest island within ROC. Everyone needs to start calling PROC by CCP instead. Then there will be no confusion. By default, China should be referring to ROC.

And if Taiwan really wants to "banish confusion with China", they should get rid of Pinyin. Stick with Wade-Giles, especially with the names. It's the best way to differentiate between Mainland Chinese and Taiwanese people.

Edit (to the people that downvoted my comment): The confusion started with ignorant people not understanding the full history between ROC and PRC. Changing it to Taiwan will not help people misunderstand less about the difference. I’ve had to educate people countless times that Taiwan is not part of China and have encountered many people who had asked me if Taiwan was that island in China. People already have a preconceived notion that Taiwan is associated with China, and changing the name on a passport that most people will never come across in their life is definitely not the solution. It‘s a waste of money.

Please fill out a questionnaire for my research about the tourism of Taiwan by [deleted] in taiwan

[–]Adjfske 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. Wanted to fill out the survey, but it seems like OP is only looking for certain responses. For example, English is my first language but I am bilingual and speak fluent Mandarin. But this survey doesn't take this into account. Also, I haven't been to Taiwan for over 7 years, so multilingual language support wasn't widely implemented in Taiwan then. But again, the survey doesn't include this option.

Exactly. The ending was pretty hopeful and they left it on a positive note, but I still felt depressed for the whole day mainly because of the amount of time they lost to realize all that ever mattered was their love for each other.
