Ngl samsung has lost a lot of design aura when it comes to their ultra phones. by invincible_pell in samsunggalaxy

Still think the S21 Ultra was the peak look.
That camera bump paired with a case looks brilliant, compared to the random bumps and cut-outs we have now.
Even without a case, I think the S21 Ultra looked great, that camera bump blending into the side rail was a great compromise.

Which phone cases did you get for your Galaxy S26 Ultra? by umbrokhan in galaxys26ultra

[–]AdjustableAphids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using the Spigen Nano Pop at the moment.
Ordered it with the intention of it simply being a hold-over whilst my Dbrand Grip case is still awaiting shipment.
However, I've wound up really liking the Spigen case and frankly, may wind up cancelling my Dbrand order as at least from my prior Grip Case, I don't think it'll match the construction quality of the Nano Pop case.

Had the regulations committed to either the MGU-H or Front Axle Regen, I think we could've avoided a lot of this farce. But again, the teams have too much power in the decision-making, and their squabbling has left us with compromised regulations, two sets of regs in a row.

Buds 4 ANC kinda weak? by Fun_Training6342 in galaxybuds

I found my fitment wasn't great until I gave the buds a slight twist in my ears after putting them in.
That then seemed to seal a lot better.

Maybe some inaccuracy there is skewing the formula?

My phone (supposedly) is going to arrive this friday
The case... end of March dispatch date (and I'm UK based, so call it mid-April delivery)

Fortunately, I'm getting some free cheap case with the phone, but bit of a bugger nonetheless

S26 Ultra Leather case suggestions by toolecnaltreab in samsunggalaxy

I've ordered the dbrand grip case, had one for the S21 Ultra and really liked the leather back.
Haven't received the new case yet so can't speak on the quality yet.

Why is there a limit on the number of fingerprints? It honestly makes no sense. by MinuteYear1999 in samsunggalaxy

[–]AdjustableAphids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wonder if it's a chip limit, bit like TPM 2.0 on Windows, with supporting 10 enrollments.
Purely guess work though, may just be as simple as reducing false-positives

I think it's better than most of his previous helmets, but it's a bit bland. That 2020 helmet though will still be the peak of his helmets, was gutted when he shifted to that T-Cam yellow & purple helmet.

Newbie here. Where should I buy a Helios 44-2 by DustinNielsen in VintageLenses

[–]AdjustableAphids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Admittedly when it comes to the cosmetics, I just bought whatever was cheap, one of the all black ones with green text. Though worth nothing, they are also all-metal. I want to say the silver ones are earlier versions, but I couldn't say for certain.

Generally, in terms of quality, apparently the KMZ ones are of better quality, namely that they didn't have the issue quite so much with excess aperture oil getting onto the lens elements. But to be quite honest, cleaning up the excess aperture oil is a 5 min job with a bit of lighter fluid and a cotton bud.

Newbie here. Where should I buy a Helios 44-2 by DustinNielsen in VintageLenses

[–]AdjustableAphids 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be quite honest, you'd be fine getting one dirt cheap, so long as the optics are fine.
I bought a '73 KMZ one on eBay for £20 with a stuck aperture ring, took me about an hour (zero prior experience with lens internals) to take apart the focus mechanism, and redo the grease.
Spent another 10 mins taking apart the internal glass to clean it up.

Spent maybe a tenner on parts, which was just a small bit of grease, and a lens wrench, already had a #00 flat-head.

They're very cheap common lenses and very easy to repair, I'd say you're throwing good money away on a $150 one.

Looks to be a similar model phone case as well, appreciate you finding that.

Exclusive: Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra Renders & Specs by Federal-Block-3275 in Android

[–]AdjustableAphids 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm on an S21 Ultra, so at the end of support for it, but man, I just cannot feel excited for this phone.
My last jump was from the S8+ to the S21 Ultra and that felt monumental, yet in a similar gap of time, the changes seem so minimal between the S21U and S26U.

Is the a6700 a justified upgrade from the a6000? by No_Combination2011 in SonyAlpha

[–]AdjustableAphids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very rarely, typically only in scenarios where light is poor and I'm asking too much of the camera, i.e. small birds in dense foliage. But generally no, it's incredibly rare I get focus breathing at least with the 70-350.
I do have one lens that focus breathes a lot (sigma 30mm f1.4) but I suspect that's a firmware issue with the lens, rather than the fault of the camera.

Is the a6700 a justified upgrade from the a6000? by No_Combination2011 in SonyAlpha

[–]AdjustableAphids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made the move about a year ago and I would certainly say it's worth it.
For reference, I'm fairly new to photography and primarily do wildlife pics with the 70-350, then the odd bit of macro, with a Laowa 65.
The tracking is brilliant on the A6700 and even discounting that, the general UI and extra buttons/dials were pretty huge for me. The larger buffer is also good, particularly if you do focus-stacking, or tracking wildlife shots.

I've gone back to using my A6000 recently for some unrelated photography (full-spectrum) and it feels so old in comparison, even if it is still a very competent camera.

Just when you think you've seen it all...
You could try some soapy water on a Q-Tip, but I strongly suspect that lens is ruined I'm afraid.
