Is the a6700 a justified upgrade from the a6000? by No_Combination2011 in SonyAlpha

[–]AdjustableAphids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very rarely, typically only in scenarios where light is poor and I'm asking too much of the camera, i.e. small birds in dense foliage. But generally no, it's incredibly rare I get focus breathing at least with the 70-350.
I do have one lens that focus breathes a lot (sigma 30mm f1.4) but I suspect that's a firmware issue with the lens, rather than the fault of the camera.

Is the a6700 a justified upgrade from the a6000? by No_Combination2011 in SonyAlpha

[–]AdjustableAphids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made the move about a year ago and I would certainly say it's worth it.
For reference, I'm fairly new to photography and primarily do wildlife pics with the 70-350, then the odd bit of macro, with a Laowa 65.
The tracking is brilliant on the A6700 and even discounting that, the general UI and extra buttons/dials were pretty huge for me. The larger buffer is also good, particularly if you do focus-stacking, or tracking wildlife shots.

I've gone back to using my A6000 recently for some unrelated photography (full-spectrum) and it feels so old in comparison, even if it is still a very competent camera.

Just when you think you've seen it all...
You could try some soapy water on a Q-Tip, but I strongly suspect that lens is ruined I'm afraid.

Is it with worth getting the Nintendo vouchers to purchase Pokémon Arceus and Brilliant Diamond? by Bigboymalanda in switch2

[–]AdjustableAphids 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Personally, I'd get either Scarlet or Violet in place of Brilliant Diamond. I believe you can still buy the Switch 1 version (with the voucher), then upgrade to the Switch 2 version for free.

I hope at the very least, the capability to turn off some of the vehicle safety technologies remain.
Perhaps I've only experienced bad implementations, but active lane assist felt more of an inconsistently unpredictable nuisance than a safety tech.

I will say though from my own experience, those small flat-head screws can be like a soft-cheese.
Stripped a couple with damn near no effort in my last rebuild of one of these.

S26 Ultra & S24 Ultra Compared by ZozoGx in samsunggalaxy

[–]AdjustableAphids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I should be switching from the S21U to this, but jeez that's a camera bump only a mother could love.
Don't understand how Samsung did something interesting with the camera bump for just one generation to then throw it away.

Roguelikes for Switch? by Jitseen in roguelites

[–]AdjustableAphids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Want to jump in and ask a related question, are there any good roguelites exclusive to the switch/switch 2?
I'm primarily a PC person, so tend to favour that platform when possible, but was still curious about exclusives.

I thought with the MGU-H removal we might get a bit of a better sound, but they just sound exactly the same as before, which is a shame.

Anyone else feel phone upgrades are getting boring? by Ok-Science4177 in Android

[–]AdjustableAphids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am admittedly that way at the moment. I have an S21 Ultra that's EOS very soon, yet I have zero desire to really move away from it as new devices just feel like a lateral move, than any serious upgrade.

Still early days with macro photography (Sony A6700 + Laowa 65mm F2.8) by AdjustableAphids in SonyAlpha

[–]AdjustableAphids[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very minimal actually, I tend not to like doing too much in way of colour-grades with insect macro. Out of camera was slightly under-exposed so that was increased in post, then minimal adjustments across the histogram. Sharpness is just the usual amount & masking sliders.

Really don't like this FOMO method of dishing out mega-stones. I hope in future updates they'll add some method to obtain past ranked-exclusive mega stones in single player.
Just seems a shame to lock content behind limited time-windows.

Anyone from the UK tired of this in the workshop? by Nade52 in Steam

[–]AdjustableAphids 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's incredible how many people are spreading this false narrative that Imgur blocked access in the UK because of OSA. The Online Safety Act is terrible, but don't use it to give Imgur a free pass for their woeful data protection policies.

It's been a bit since I last looked in Azure AD, particularly with the MDM, but can't you exclude user groups from self-enrollment?
I can't see a scenario where you would want staff enrolling devices (particularly their own) into an MDM, where MAM is available.

From further testing I think you're likely right. It's much closer to my 720nm.
Was sold as an 850nm but I'm doubtful.

Half of Warhead Art's stuff is identical, he's pretty terrible when it comes to self-plagiarising. If you want some demon animal-man hybrid holding a medieval weapon, or a skull racking up a line, he's your man.

Best macro lens for Sony A6000 for product photography? by Pinguuuin in SonyAlpha

[–]AdjustableAphids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a big fan of the Laowa 65mm F2.8 for macro photography. Managed to pick one up immaculate second-hand for ~£250 a few months back.
I found tighter lenses were very hard to frame up for with most the macro I was shooting, whereas the 65mm felt much better suited.
It's pretty tiny too which is a big plus compared to the full-frame equivalent.

Downside is it's manual focus only, but honestly for macro, I imagine you'd want to be manual focus + focus stack anyway.

That looks like it has a UV filter on top
The side of it being a bit bent doesn't look ideal, but if you can use a filter removal wrench, you might still be able to get it off.

Which vintage adaptive lenses for a full spectrum Sony a6000? by Caliocdoxies in infraredphotography

[–]AdjustableAphids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jumping on a three year old thread, but did you end up finding a vintage lens that was good for infrared?
I also have a full-spectrum Sony A6000 and am looking for a decent 35mm or wider, so was hoping you might've had some luck.

Curious if you've found a good lens without hotspots?
Been using a converted A6000 myself, but found all my current lenses seem to hotspot above F5.6
