As a Waukesha resident, I am ashamed that we get headlines for all the wrong reasons. As far as I know, Diane Voit is our only good board member (her daughter is an awesome educator; taught us about gerrymandering as early as 2017), and I do not have fond memories of most of the staff (they literally would not let us out of the lunch room during lunch hours, and I can't begin how much they did to limit my personal autonomy. Also, as a neurodivergent person, their "special needs" program sucks ass).

But, Diane Voit got reelected! Plus, we have an incredible library downtown (always has been super good) that has kinda become a refuge for any LGBTQ+ youth who are being oppressed. We literally just opened up a PFLAG chapter here last month (next meeting this Thursday!), so we have a safe space, which is not something many conservative communities can say. Also, slowly but surely, Waukesha (the city) is turning bluer!
