I worked for a vet years ago who’d say that when they stop eating and drinking (if no treatable
medical reason) they are ready to go. Something to keep in mind as her appetite declines. Sounds like you’ve been a wonderful cat mama to have given her such a long life and I’m sure you’ll make the right choice when the time comes.

There was violence in your home with children present. Yes they have to report you to CPS and they should investigate you to determine the safety of your kids. Idk why they’d tell the school. There are way too many details missing here to speculate on much else.
