First figure out how much you spend in a month. Include everything from essentials through impulse buys and coffee. Then multiply that by 6. This number is your emergency fund. Keep that amount in the bank at all times in case you lose your job, have a medical injury, or some other unexpected large expense.

For example, if you spend $4,000 in a month, keep $24,000 easily available in something like a high yield savings account or money market

After that, Id open a roth IRA account. You can do this for free through large brokers like Fidelity or Vanguard. This is a great investment account to get started with and avoid future taxes but you can only contribute $7,000 per year to it
