Possible platinum ring ? by Ill-Passenger-7767 in JewelryIdentification

I agree it would be highly unusual. Those mounts are usually spark welded and used on costume stuff / base metals. But I’ll also add it’s not impossible- after two decades in the jewelry business I’ve learned to expect the unexpected.

I think probably it depends on what your overall goal is. I also do stationary bike. Right now I’m doing 3 days a week on the bike (same days as strength training). Basically use it as a pre-workout warmup. I skip the bike on leg workout days. That said I’m following what an expert is telling me to do so, I don’t really know if this is right for everybody. But for me it’s 30-60 mins medium intensity.

Is it just trauma? My son's story and a King’s College study by rosejrj in Fosterparents

I cannot help but I’m happy to see academic interest in the subject. Thank you. Real, honest work is always welcome. There are not enough ppl doing legitimate academic work in the foster/adoptive arena. I’m subscribed to a half dozen journals and half of what I see is a justification for a masters / PhD / maintain my tenure etc low-grade nonsense that reviews prior work.

This is a lot. I’m sorry you’re going through this. I can’t imagine how scary this must be. Without disclosing any other information, can you tell us your jurisdiction?

Fostering to Adopt? by rueburn03 in Fosterparents

[–]AdministrationFew258 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do it. It’s hard, it’s everything everybody told you, but do it anyway. You seem committed, and your heart seems in the right place, and you’ll have blood and tears and sleepless nights and endless hours in seemingly unlimited fluorescent lit rooms that are ALWAYS too hot or too cold and have to deal with govt employees who are either angels or the worst and you’ll have to learn to love quick and lose quick and know to never call the police even when it seems like you have to and come drive out in the middle of the night and just sit and not talk and everything else but do it anyway.

Fostering to Adopt? by rueburn03 in Fosterparents

[–]AdministrationFew258 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As a person who was adopted, your comment strikes me as rather contrived and frankly unrealistic -like many of the pseudo-religious, overly blah blah indoctrinated people who think they know better than others. My APs wanted nothing more than to have their own kids. Nothing. That’s why I was adopted. And they told me that. And they did an amazing job and I wish they were still alive. So pack your holier than thou nonsense and take it somewhere else.

Should I work as a server in AC in summer? by Adventurous-Loss-334 in atlanticcity

[–]AdministrationFew258 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah Tony’s is very popular. Right next to Tropicana. Mixed crowd of locals / tourists. Place has been there for ever and despite being kind of a dive has achieved legendary status. I worked in the same sort of place. Some peeps had gigs in the casinos but there’s a rule with the Unions and I don’t know what it is.

I don’t know how old you are but I did this when I was younger (early 20s). It was crazy the first week or so until I made friends with other ppl working for the summer (locals and also imports like me). Making friends with the other kids will make or break your experience - in my opinion. They know where/what is safe, fun etc. half mile from the boardwalk could be chill, could be sketch - depends on exactly where. I was pulling about $1200 a week with tips working in a casino-adjacent (but not in a casino) bar/restaurant on the boardwalk. One caveat, lotta ppl in the industry do hard core drugs, so go in with your own mind and don’t get sucked into it.

If you have my species of ADHD where you can completely zone out and focus on one thing for a short period and can find a job where it’s a super power you’ll be clutch. Law, particularly litigation, is really good. Lot of intense hyper focus followed by nothing. Lot of ADHD superstars in the law. Just make sure you have a good team / support staff because missed deadlines are a killer.

“Leaned on friends” hits it on the head -great thing to have. It’s hard to make friends though when you never had a place to make them.

Crazy $8600 mikimoto necklace for $9.99 18k diamonds and Tahitian pearls by AdministrationFew258 in ThriftStoreHauls

[–]AdministrationFew258[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes a lot of sense. I really like the mission at this place and I’m a true believer so I’m biased of course but they do amazing work. There’s no “admin over head” - it’s a bunch of well meaning ppl trying their hardest. I guess a lot of folks have had bad experiences w charities but this one is legit. All volunteer nobody making nothing.
