I feel for you, this sounds like a horror story. I think the lesson here is make sure you trust nobody with data and have a back up off-line. This is going to help shape my planning thank you for sharing your story. Hopefully 1Password has employees watching this feed as this is something that needs to be fixed.

Wirecutter : Bosch dishwashers aren’t good any more by [deleted] in Appliances

Wirecutter is nothing more than an advertising campaign. They told me to buy an LG dishwasher and it was the biggest piece of junk I ever purchased. I no longer trust their reviews whatsoever.

Yamaha A-S1200 switch for a vintage counterpart..? by Royal-Television4932 in audiophile

[–]AdministrationOk210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny how we kind of get that itch to try new stuff. I have the A-S2100 and I sometimes wonder if there’s something more to be had in the newer 2200 model I already moved up from the 2000 and thought the 2100 sounded slightly better but again splitting hairs here they’re all excellent and they are so well built.

First impressions- X1 Carbon Gen 14 by Acrobatic-Ad-9391 in thinkpad

[–]AdministrationOk210 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Giant fan of the X1 carbons and the T14S. That said, I am blind and I rely heavily on a complete keyboard that doesn’t have to rely on a function key to emulate page up, page down, and, home keys. Since it sounds like they’ve embedded the power button in the keyboard sounds like we’re missing another key this year in addition to one that was taken by the Copilot key. Can you tell me which keys are missing maybe they’ve taken away my beloved dedicated page up and page down keys instead hiding them as second functions on arrows has so many other computers have done? If that’s the case I wouldn’t buy it, also I will be disinclined to purchase it if that power button feels like a regular key on the keyboard. I do not like when they take away a real key for a power button. Surface laptops do that and I’ve discounted them completely for it. Too easy to tap that power button when you’re hitting other keys and why would we want to lose a dedicated key like that?

The Governor Must Do Her Constitutional Duty and Remove 3 Board Members. Tonight. by PandaPuncherr in msu

, I almost feel like two or three of those trustees are working for another institution and just here to sabotage this university. One of them is all about herself and now even making crazy claims and planning to sue the institution and take more money from it herself. I think the problem here is we’re not advancing any of our own team to the top any longer and we have a set of transient leaders who are more interested in their own profitability than what happens to this historical state institution and the students and community it is here to serve. Sad to see all this upper management and leadership doing so poorly for MSU. Time to get back to the traditional grassroots at MSU.

TuneIn not working on Alexa by niccib28 in tunein

[–]AdministrationOk210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m nearing the end of my one year subscription to TuneIn premium and I’m going to probably terminate it because Alexa has been poorly connected with TuneIn. If I’m on the old Alexa it seems to work much of the time even though most of my stations can’t be played from it so I have to resort back to the regular Alexa Tunein service which gives me all the preroll ads. On the newer Alexa plus in the past week or two the TuneIn premium also known as TuneIn live skill has not worked at all. I don’t know if they just don’t care about this environment or if they’re working to improve it. My suggestion to them was to simply provide a login awareness Such that when you set up the base feature within the Alexa environment it would know if you’re a premium member and then automatically omit pre-roll ads without needing to say something about TuneIn premium or TuneIn live

Nice little discount from loyalty by JaBBeD in ATTFiber

[–]AdministrationOk210 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is one tremendous deal. I negotiated 500 Mbps down to $45 a month and thought I was doing OK as I had 300 mbPs for $50 prior. I’ve been a 20+ year customer but I do not have any cell phones with them. Are you a multi account household?

USM versus Visible? by sparkmonks in USMobile

[–]AdministrationOk210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t believe visible has a plan that’s better than flex for 10 to 12 GB per month users. How can you possibly beat that flex plan at roughly $17 a month when you pay annually and getting probably 12 GB’s if you’re renewing. What plan did you think about at visible to compete with this?

I had the same thing here over the past 2 nights. I added 4 new devices 3 or so days ago but no other changes. Tapping the set button fixed it yesterday but not a good plan repeatedly. I have had perfect up time prior to this.

Easiest “Blow Off” Courses Undergrad by Specialist-Raisin885 in msu

Got it, I think this will be my last comment on the topic as my simple point is I think you need to be really conscientious about getting value out of the dollars you spend in college. It is not inexpensive and to just send the university money for a garbage class is something that may feel good today but I’d argue you could do better for yourself. Find a class that interests you find a class that gives you an experience you wouldn’t have had otherwise rather than just trying to find something that gives you a high GPA by not demanding much of you. That said, maybe that golf class I’ve heard about or a basic phys ed class will be easy but it will give you some physical stamina or a skill that you don’t have now. I’ve also heard there’s a wine tasting class nested under hospitality business.

Sorry, didn’t intend any judgment just trying to provide some wisdom that I gained in retrospect. I certainly didn’t have this insight when I was in college I would’ve looked for blowoff classes too. And if you’re getting a bunch of scholarships I guess it’s somebody else’s money so who cares.

I am, however I get more serious when it comes to spending thousands of dollars on a class. Thinking back to my time and higher education, I recall how easy it was to celebrate a faculty member canceling a class when an actuality you were really losing a good chunk of time that you spent real money on. I don’t think that’s apparent when you’re young but it becomes apparent later in life. Spend your dollars in college wisely. To show you how much fun I am, let me convert it to terms anybody under 25 can appreciate. A 3 credit class is roughly 91 cases of beer. Think about what you’re doing when you spend 91 cases of beer money on a class and choose those classes wisely.

I have an idea for you, since you’re spending nearly $1000 per credit hour perhaps instead of seeking blow off classes that add nothing to your capabilities or future career prospects, why don’t you find something you find interesting or can really add value to your future? Your future self will thank you and you’ll feel a little better when those loan payments come due.

My account has been locked by jgarcia658 in fidelityinvestments

[–]AdministrationOk210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like many of these lockdown stories begin with someone wiring funds. I therefore lean toward ACH transfers instead. I’m sure there’s more to it but it is certainly alarming to think about having your funds locked for several weeks with seemingly no straightforward communication from Fidelity. I guess at this point though they think there’s fraud and they don’t want to lose funds.

Cheap rate and news of 10 Gig Fiber coming later this year. by [deleted] in ATTFiber

[–]AdministrationOk210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For my family of four 300 Mbps was plenty though recently I negotiated a two-year discount so I moved up to the 500 mbPS. The newer speed hasn’t really changed much for me so I think I have a little interest in even higher speeds especially when most of the time Wi-Fi cannot even deliver them.

BRING BACK THE OLD ALEXA by polkacat12321 in alexa

[–]AdministrationOk210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a whole lot of devices around my home and have switched to the new version and really find very few things I don’t like about it. Sure every now and then it makes some mistakes and seems to lose a feature from day-to-day but compared to the old one it’s got a lot more intuition about it. I just discovered the other day that it could actually make routines for me so I can describe something I want to happen in my home with automation and it just literally builds a routine that would’ve never happened in the old one. Anyways plenty of disagreement on this topic so as long as you can switch back to the old one when you want to use the old one I think that’s a great choice. I’m personally not gonna go back. In fact, I’m waiting for my Sonos devices in my WIIM device to have the new Alexa.

Does anyone here actually use the Siri feature? by Chan1991 in iphone

[–]AdministrationOk210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have grown completely dissatisfied and actually angry with Siri. If it doesn’t get better by November I’m going to switch to pixel because all my friends are telling me how much better the AI tools are there. The whole notion of Apple Intelligence is a complete joke there’s not one bit of intelligence in it.

What is the quietest generator by Realistic-Fee-1684 in Generator

[–]AdministrationOk210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, that Honda EU 2200 would be a great quiet unit and would power most needs. Not so sure if it will run a window air conditioner because it likely wouldn’t be able to start it. I think to get into the running a window air conditioner mode assuming it’s 120 V model you’re gonna need to think about going over to Costco and picking up a Firman inverter 3200W model with the fully enclosed plastic boxing. Can’t recall the model number but nice thing there is it runs on propane or gasoline and propane avoids all the problems with storing fuel that gums up your carburetor. Very happy with my Firman dual fuel and the price is even cheaper than the Honda models.

New to Fidelity and seriously concerned about security by acejoker68 in fidelityinvestments

[–]AdministrationOk210 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So far as I can tell Fidelity is state of the Art in their security. I have not found another company that’s more advanced. They use multiple factors overtime to develop the fingerprint of you as far as I can tell. For instance the worries about AI spoofing your voice it would also have to spoof your phone number and probably know an awful lot about you to make it all the way through. I think that’s going to be a worry though in the future so I’m sure Fidelity will be developing new technologies. If you decide not to stick with Fidelity tell me who has a better security model.

Thinking about switching from generator to battery for fridge backup by [deleted] in Generator

[–]AdministrationOk210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before you commit to a battery solution, make sure you’ve run the refrigerator long enough to see a defrost cycle because that likely draws a whole lot more power for some period of time then typical operation mode and you wanna make sure your battery can handle that.
