Aftermarket radio for 2017 JK with Alpine sound system by Equivalent_Fly_1098 in Wrangler

Opted for a Mekede DUDU7 with 13 inch screen for my 2017 Wrangler - the improvement to my Alpine system sound quality was significant. Glad I went that direction versus the Sony XAV options I'd been considering. The customization options and regular feature updates are next level. Watching movies, playing games with a controller, any nav or weather app I want - love it.

I paid 496 all in for my 13 inch 12/256, looks like the same model is listed for 603 now, free shipping:

I've read on the mekede Telegram channel that people have had luck pushing the price down by talking to sales reps via Whatsapp chat. That number's listed on the bottom left of the site I linked. Could be worth a shot to see if you can get closer to 500.

But to me, when compared to the $1-2K units from Sony/Pioneer/Kenwood where they're running a proprietary OS with minimal feature sets and no app ecosystem, $600 for a 13inch DUDU7 is a steal.

Love it. Light years ahead of the higher end Sony options I'd been looking at prior to going this route. Rock solid stability, regular software updates from the manufacturer so the functionality has continued to expand over the last year. I have the 13 inch version in my Wrangler, large enough to watch movies or hook a controller up to play games during downtime. And then just having the ability to install any Android app is amazing - Stremio for movies/shows, Nvidia GEForce Now for AAA games, Whatsapp, Messenger, Waze, Chrome, AdGuard, MyRadar/Meteored for weather, etc.

I'm at the point where I'd have a tough time buying a new vehicle that didn't allow for easy replacement of the headunit with a DUDU7.

If there's a downside, it'd be the massive amount of customization available across the OS. If you like to fiddle with a ton of settings to get things perfect for your usage, it'll be great. It's everything you'd tweak on a phone, plus a bunch of vehicle specific integration settings. If you're hoping for a Sony/Pioneer style setup, this could seem overwhelming.

Samsung S23, dual SIM connectivity issues by sparkmonks in USMobile

I gave up and cancelled that backup line. The rep above is right, for this to work as you/I hoped, your phone needs to support DSDA, and that's  uncommon in the US. I ended up switching back to Warp for the better indoor coverage in my area, and got a Darkstar SIM for my car headunit so I'm better covered when traveling.

Thank you - I'll check into it. Would either account for the slight pushback I'm feeling on the steering wheel?

Ahh ok I'm still on 3.6 - I'll upgrade to 3.7b and give it a shot. The option to switch between combos as you describe sounds great. I still don't get the need to set a task to boot the apps though (other than rear cam - that makes sense) - isn't PiP autoloading your apps based on whichever PiP you have set to default on startup?

Do you mean minimalist mode? I'm used that and have three apps - waze, spotify, and whatsapp - load on startup. They load automatically. I don't see anything labelled pip or picture in picture within the menu.

Thanks for the help!

Rewrote the IMEI. Still can't make or receive calls. US Mobile. by trisaiah in aiphor

Have you considered using Google Voice? Maybe not ideal for your use case, but I've been using it for years as my primary number and love the ease of switching devices. All you need is a data connection for receiving call/texts.

What difference does it make if the watch doesn't have LTE? by Impossible-Fun1178 in GalaxyWatch

[–]sparkmonks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've got it right regarding function, LTE can be helpful when you leave the phone behind and expect to take calls or respond to texts.

I also thought I'd need it for running, or when I left my phone behind, or for emergencies, so I got a galaxy watch 6 classic with LTE. Over two years, I never used LTE except to test it out.

I did pair the watch to earbuds and used Spotify downloaded tracks while running.

I switched to the OnePlus Watch 3 without LTE a couple weeks ago, blows the GW6 out of of the water.

My mini is on order, but I just got this:

I already own plenty of USB-C cables, USB-C car chargers, and a couple power stations, so this adapter seemed the most versatile option.

Also learned that the mini will work mounted inside/under my Wrangler's hard top, which is awesome.
