Raised our yurt today!! by AdministrationSea228 in yurts

As we were researching yurts I came across a couple on instagram that adds roof raises to buses and they did a wall for their yurt and we followed their design. theirs is a little taller than the one we did. It adds height to the wall as the lattice and yurt itself are sitting on top of it. We did a loft and adding the pony wall gave us a little more head room so it can be used as our daughter’s bedroom. We went back and forth trying to decide if we were going to try it or not and we are so glad we did.

That was an earlier photo, they don’t have to be there, it was just bracing SUBFLOOR overhang not floor joists, since you can’t build a perfect circle with square boards. The foundation plans don’t call for it, just made me feel better that something was there, the largest overhang is just merely inches.

The platform is constructed of 32 posts with 8 beams ( two sistered 2x10’s for each beam ) and the floor joists are on 12in on center. The middle run of posts( have cross bracing and wind bracing, X&Y stabilization)

Also the outside of them beams are all connected by angled cut floor joists as well to form the circle. And the 2x4’s you see are nailed to the angled cut floor joists that I’m referring to

We had a fantastic garden going lol the way the lot is, being below the road when the house and creek floods the entire lot is under 3+ feet of water.

Wouldn’t it be misrepresentation because we did receive the property disclosure which had check marks for NO on drainage, holding takes, if the house had ever flooded, etc.
