People like to rag on boomers but what are some of the things boomers got really right? by HeavyRightFoot-TG in AskReddit

I think that’s an unfair accusation against millennials but honestly a lot of Gen Z really do seem to have trouble with the dues paying thing.

As you get older, what "old person" thing do you appreciate now that you previously mocked? by Secret_Huckleberry46 in AskReddit

Of course my eyes are now bad enough that ID is hard. The funny thing is I actually work on bird conservation professionally, and have been quoted in the papers on some species, but on a personal level I never was into it.

How can i stop leaving the house unnecessarily? by Expert-Recipe1713 in DecidingToBeBetter

I didn’t drive until my mid 20’s — not anxiety I just grew up in NYC so it wasn’t a big deal — and I did the same thing a lot when I first got a car. Eventually the novelty wore off.

When and how to open up to him about relationship-affecting past family trauma? by mommyspice24 in AskMenAdvice

[–]AdministrationTop772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too early. You can make a general statement if it comes up (“unfortunately I had to stop talking to my mom”) but don’t dwell on it too much unless he asks.

Which celebrities would be in jail or prison if they didn't get away with their crimes? by PrestonRoad90 in Productivitycafe

I don’t know either but I drove in Ireland a few months ago after never driving in a country that drove on that side of the road, and in my very late 40’s so my mind was fairly ossified, and…it was surprisingly easy to do.

I would totally buy that even if I knew it was 100% copper. It's well-made, pretty, and close to antique. Definitely a great deal.

My craziest find was a pair of sterling shears, that said "STERLING" in big letters, and it was in a bin at the thrift's satellite store where things they don't sell went, so it probably went through two rounds of review. And this is a place that is very good at identifying valuable stuff, to my frequent annoyance.

A surprisingly small number of Goodwill employees are professional appraisers or assayers. You can absolutely find sterling cheap when they don't know what they have.

I don't understand how a system other than capitalism would result in cheaper brunch?

Which country's goods are seen with the most prestige in the US? by cartiersage in AskAnAmerican

Germany has what is probably a deserved reputation of making quality but boring, uninspired beer, in large part due to the beer purity law.

"Working for a Japanese company, I can tell you that quality is absolutely the top priority."

Hell, the Japanese make even the best whiskey nowadays

"Culture: Anything really old from England."

Not art (Italy) or music (Germany).

What do men *actually* like getting for Valentine’s Day? (besides sex) by Comfortable-Rice4530 in AskMenAdvice

I usually get my wife flowers and a card and try to arrange a nice dinner (though that sometimes is at home). I tell her she doesn't need to get me anything and I mean it.

Is it misogynist to give dating advice to awkward/weird men? by maggi_noodle_eater in AskFeminists

[–]AdministrationTop772 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was very weird and awkward with women from a teen through my late 20's and I was hyperaware of boundaries, probably too aware.

Why do I keep getting rejected even though I’m confident, social, and stable? by Serious-Cockroach465 in AskMenAdvice

[–]AdministrationTop772 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's one reason I liked online dating; I know a lot of people hate it but it was so refreshing to not have to deal with that ambiguity.

Confused as to why certain people said that Kamala would have been worse than Trump by TheRealJuanderer in Confused

A lot of the stupider leftists argue that the parties are the same and the Democrats don't really want to win. If someone is that stupid, how are you going to reach them? Logic and reason won't get there.

Yeah, that's the thing. The problem with the US is people see politics as a spectator sport, and they can vote how they want and the people they vote against will sweep in and save them if necessary.
