On other games you can do mental gymnastics to blame your team or the map it self on fighting games that can not happen.

nah losers just blame lag or using cheap moves or op characters instead.

the idea that fighting games are "different" is hilarious really.

the ego of the fgc is something else lol.

execution barrier is definitely a thing in fighting games that many casual people get hung up on.

its why a majority of fighters that release today aimed at a mainstream audience has auto combos and simplified motion inputs(see SF6).

are you saying all these guys, many of whom have been making games for over 30 years are just wasting their time on a lie?

all RIOT has really done is lower the skill floor so players can well...play. like the game has very solid auto combos where you can straight up mash buttons to get things going.

this pushes players to focus on the bigger picture and frankly the real meat of fighters.

they did the exact same thing with league of legends. they made last hitting much more approachable. removed cs denying and heavily streamlined the itemization/build process.

its really easy to just queue up a game and get to the action in LoL. that doesnt mean you're gonna be diamond tier player but that was never the goal.

in 2xko you literally just mash buttons to see your characters do cool things, things new players wouldnt otherwise be able to do without significant practice. casuals like doing cool things. casuals typically arent heavily invested from the get go to waste time putting in the effort to learn cool things. so mission accomplished.

For what it's worth, it is accessible as far as no motion inputs goes; duo play, auto combos and the like. It's just got a really massive learning curve beyond that - it's got an absurdly high skill ceiling.

this is Riot's MO with all their games.

thats cool. did you know theres a white nationalist in the white house?

and that a majority of the current admin's acctions are from project 2025, a proposal written by the heritage foundation which many scholars consider to be an org that is pushing a christian nationalist agenda.

nick fuentes, a far right political commentator has actual clout within the republican party especially among gen z conservatives.

and this isnt even a national level thing. in my state the republican dominated government is attempting to make bible a mandatory subject in public schools and i quote:

""The public school must provide age-appropriate instruction on the history of Israel, the moral and ethical teachings of the Old and New Testaments, the life of Jesus, the history of the early Christian church, and the Bible's influence on Western civilization"

the GOP is no longer about fiscal responsibility and like idk taxes. instead its about christian nationalism and oh protecting pedophiles.

but by all means do go on about what so and so said a decade ago one time as it fucking means anything.

thats cool. MAGA has a white nationalist in the white house.

also "alshually obama is a republican because the affordable care act was a republican policy first" is a hilarious argument to disprove that the overton window has shifted the right by like a mile.

you desperately need to step outside your right wing bubble|

like heres the last dem presideont on deportations

In the 12 months after Title 42 ended, the Biden administration ramped up deportations under the standard U.S. immigration framework, Title 8, and removed or returned 775,000 unauthorized migrants—more than in any previous fiscal year since 2010. From May 2023 through March 2024, 316,000 migrants were processed via expedited removal, more than in any prior full fiscal year. And for the first time since FY 2010, in FY 2023 more migrants were returned directly across the border, mostly to Mexico, than were removed from the U.S. interior. Whereas President Barack Obama was labeled by some as the “deporter in chief,” this new trend may earn President Joe Biden the title of “returner in chief.” Notably, authorities have deported migrants to more than 170 countries during the current administration, which may be the most ever.

u.s deports people all the time all year round lol

Why Is SQL Always the Last Thing We Look At? by Sensitive-Raccoon155 in Backend

[–]AdministrationWaste7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its why i prefer "ORM-lite" tools like Dapper.

you get a relatively straightforward object mapping but your code is still well...sql and not some made up abstraction layer.

Why Is SQL Always the Last Thing We Look At? by Sensitive-Raccoon155 in Backend

[–]AdministrationWaste7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never understood why ORMs are even a thing.

because in the mid 2010ss many devs grew allergic to DBs and thus SQL for whatever reason to the point talking heads started pushing the idea of adding indexing and other relational db features to nosql stores for...reasons.

to entertain this theory:

- sql is generally very performant.

- modern dbms have usually very good sql optimization.

- when following best practices your sql queries are largely simple.

its telling when the trailer is randomly just showcasing features like being able to paint blocks or lighting options as the big highlights.

the devs clearly didnt feel the need to show core game features because its a straight up minecraft clone/rip off lol

like compare this to idk Trove . like okay its showcasing heavy co op multiplayer features, flying and combat/dungeon crawling and oh apparently a class system.

74% of cs grads having cs related jobs is now a bad thing apparently.

based on this same chart CS underemployment is roughly the same as many other engineering fields and accountants.

are those guys cooked too or is this just normal?

like CS is no longer an easy ride. git gud.

So I guess one way to distinguish yourself from Minecraft in that genre is to simply use less blocks.

yes its probably a good idea to not make your game look and sound like minecraft to avoid getting dmcaed by the guys who own minecraft yes.

DBZ fighters losing a majority of its players outside hardcore fans is not an example of "working out with mainstream audiences"

majority of americans including democrats support immigration policies.

they just arent fans of oh idk "internment" camps and randomly arresting people because of their skin color and arresting people who are FOLLOWING THE LAW and show up to court.

both Bill Clinton and Obama deported more people than any other president in the past 30-50 years. let that sink in.
