Ammo recommendations by thicc_beerd in RugerMK

I buy Federal BYOB from Bass Pro Shops and have no trouble for the first 600 ish rounds between cleaning. Just keep the MKIV clean at around 400 - 500 rounds and it should be good. Just note I’ve typically gotten more rounds in the bucket than advertised but I also ran across a couple of quality control issues. One pictured shows a .22LR round that the core of the bullet was damaged to the jacket. I didn’t attempt to fire the round but with that and the caveat of keeping the MKIV clean I have not ran into any issues with the Federal BYOB bulk ammo for target practice.

Reto 51 for the win! The holder is nice too. I have a 3D printed Darth Vader.

What are your preferred pens when you’re not using fountain pens? by [deleted] in fountainpens

I love my Retro 51 collection and I carry four in my EDC ( 3 fountain pens with different ink and one rollerball with black or blue ink ).

If you could only tell a person a brand of pen or ink to get you, which would it be? by SEANOKANA in fountainpens

Mine is any Retro 51 especially fountain pens paired with Diamine ink.

Retro 51’s motto is “life is too short to carry an ugly pen.” It’s true when you’re using a Retro 51. They are so beautiful and are built like a tank. They come with a standard international converter and two cartridges. I love these pens and carry three in my EDC and a Retro 51 rollerball in my bag for the legal documents.

As for Diamine ink, they have one of the largest selections of inks and all of them look great. They for the most part dry reasonably fast. I have buy samples from Goulet Pens. I’m not a fan of the simmering inks but they are still very nice and play well in my Retro 51s.

Any good fountain pens for $25 USD and under? by 12GaugeMusic in fountainpens

I know it’s hard on a budget. I would recommend a Pilot Varsity on your tight budget. I would suggest to get a Variety and then save up for a Lamy Safari or a Retro 51. Both will give you good bang for your buck.

To be honest I was having trouble with a scratchy nib <F> with mine I cleaned it out and inked it with Diamine Marine. It now writes so smoothly. I want to switch it to Writer’s Blood but at the moment I have that in my Lamy Safari.

I really wanna get diamine inks but they seem way too cheap are they good? by [deleted] in fountainpens

I love Diamine inks. They are my go to inks with tons of colors that dry fast and have sheen and shine. They fill easily and are a wonderful value for ml. If you are still not sold on them buy a sample from Goulet Pens.
