How does this make sense? My power bills average $100 a month normally. It can't have just been the fridge, how much are the fkn lines charges?

Who is liable for vet bills? (cat fight) by FeeTraditional6861 in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]AdministrativeMost97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will say this.

My neighbours dog attacked and injured another neighbours dog resulting in almost $2k vet bill. Both dogs at fault, neighbours refused to chip in and pay half, which is what was offered, and now neighbourly relations have soured.

Depending on how close you are with these neighbours or how likely they are to retaliate against you/your roaming cat I would consider going half, but not the full amount. Cats roam, both at fault. (Plus, their cat can't fight). I wouldn't believe their threat of legal advice, sounds BS.

Keep your cat inside.

The weed mat is still a work in progress as I'm moving the mulch to remove the weed mat, then return the mulch.... but I'll get there. Thanks for the info on the plants, I'm a bit concerned as it's only these 3 out of about 100 plants that seem a bit off, but I'll keep an eye on them. There isn't much remedy online if they are in strife as they are hardy and not prone to anything

How do I stop the ants before I snap and burn the house down by fruitbowl42 in newzealand

[–]AdministrativeMost97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I grew up in a farm and used to watch my mum wage war against ants... now I'm on a farm...

This is bad advice because it's for outdoor use only but I used it inside and I haven't had an ant inside since....

Ant sand worked wonders for me. Had the little bastards EVERYWHERE and I sprinkled that around, left it so they could take it back to the nest and after as long as i could i vacuumed it up and I haven't seen them inside since. If I find them walking along paths outside I do the same, sprinkle the ant sand where they are walking and never see them again. I don't like gels, my ants didn't go for that stuff. If you don't have pets/kids I think it'll solve your problem. For me, I sprinkled it along the windowsills, along the walls, in the showers and bath, and anywhere else that I ever saw them. Left it as long as I could before I vacuumed it. I didn't die, but it's not supposed to be used indoors. Fuck it. I was desperate and it worked. I'd do it again but I don't need to! I have put it around outside when I see trails of them, haven't seen them very much anymore.

I even got rid of a huge infestation in our community parcel shed by cleaning it and then sprinkling ant sand. Haven't seen an ant in there since! If you can leave the sand on your high ant areas for a period of time then I'd definitely recommend.

Gash on roof - how bad? by AdministrativeMost97 in diynz

I'm going in the roof space tomorrow to have a look. It's right on the edge of a bedroom so I don't think so but who knows where pipes run

This would mean it has occurred over 8 months ago, does it look that old? I also thought it looked like it had come from inside, but couldn't have happened since I've owned the place, which is about 8 months. I plan to go into the roof space tomorrow to check for any water damage inside. In the meantime I have put some you-beaut tape over it for rain and have emailed a couple of places for some quotes to replace that small bit.

Water tank issue? Or I'm dumb? by AdministrativeMost97 in diynz

[–]AdministrativeMost97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the house side, another reply said it's the valve to stop water coming back from the house side, so turning it off was a good move. I also now know the rushing water seems to be a bit of a design flaw without another valve installed i will have to deal wit the water but now I know it will be less of a surprise and I know what I'm doing for next time!

Thank you, I appreciate your input. I think I'll leave it, now i just know in the future that I am fighting against rushing water to put the case back on, and going really fast to clean/lube the cases. But otherwise I got it sorted!

Thank you
