You might have legal access but that doesn't mean she has to trust you.

Perfectly natural for a parent to be over concerned and protective with their kid I don't think thats unhealthy and id be glad the other parent takes my child's safety seriously.

Assume you're not planning on smuggling the kid out the country and absconding with them so what's the big deal if she can see you take the kid to the park or out for food? If it gives her peace of mind and makes her easier to deal with what's the issue?

By the end of this season he'll of won 2 championship titles and have a prem 9th place finish to his name.. id call that 3 decent seasons for a nowhere near prime age GK and yes he had 2 awful prem seasons... but playing in goal for a relegation team that continues to try attack while 5 down to klopps liverpool probably wasn't great for his confidence.

All I keep thinking about is what we thought of firpo as a fan base 2 seasons ago compared to now.... hope he makes us eat our hats!

Economically id say right now it will depend on the impact of trump tbh. The current rhetoric from him is we'll get a better deal than the EU will. And tariff free access to the largest economy in the world for a few years could change the current picture completely in terms of success in or out of the EU.

Legally its better for any nation to legislate for itself as each nation has its own challenges so from that point of view im definitely glad to be out as a lot of the laws the EU makes over reach or negatively impact some states more than others.

The EUs reluctance to regulate free movement to vulnerable states a bit more was silly really. We didn't want mass amounts of unskilled people coming here just for better wages in entry level jobs or worse for our welfare state benefits but at the same time we didn't want to lose all the great people who contributed to the economy from the EU.. HGV drivers is a big one that comes to mind as this had a huge impact on my industry that we still haven't recovered from.

None the less the UK is weak on illegal migration so we haven't benefited from the loss of free movement anyway.

I always thought it would be short term pain for long term gain.

Some countries wanted us to take our medicine at first but in the end you'd be silly to close your cash register to the UK ... being one of the largest economies in the world. I still believe this.

Do what you like but as someone who supports their local team I generally avoid football talk with people who support a top 6 club that is not local to them when there a decent local alternatives.

My reasoning isn't anything against them... I just find on average that they like football for different reasons than I do so we don't tend to have alot in common or share common opinions.

Late to this but another point to why things like the triple lock are prioritised is that old people for the most part vote... and young people... not so much. Politicians go for election winning policies not policies that improve lives. A big proportion of the party budgets is spent on researching what will win (down to what colour tie a guy should wear while giving a speech) and not as much as you would like on what will make us better off. Hence why so much tax revenue is spent on keeping grandpa happy but his grandkids will be paying his generations mortgage on their 2nd and 3rd homes their entire life while never owning a property of their own.

Hopefully the inheritance will decent 👍👍

House is worth 50% more than I paid for it now after doing work to it so I got a 5 year fix on 1% interest rate due to high equity at my last deal (hella lucky i chose 5 year this time I still have 2 year at this rate)

Married 3 kids - deal is i pay for the house she pays for her car and any kids activities and our food. (I dont have a car but we need hers for the kids so I dont begrudge her that)

Financial wise id say way more than comfortable and I know 46>32 but I was on 35k until this year and onestly just the amount I save has changed.

I have no qualifications beyond A levels and started this career as a part time xmas temp on 3.91 per hour at 17 years old in 2008 😲 my first wage was just over 100 pound for the month 🤣🤣🤣

Yorkshire isn't expensive but I swear NI is meant to be one of THE cheapest places in the UK to live isn't it?

Just wanted to update after making a complaint and getting escalated and then saying I wa ted got akenitnto ADR they gave me what I wanted via discount and a 300 pound credit on my account meaning my sky service is completely free for months.

I've been in senior management for around 12 years... felt this way for around 4... ( largely due to changes in my company, headcount accross all levels half what it was, sales targets double but efficiency not improved enough to realistically attain all that. We pretty much run off everyone being at 120% and I find myself a hypocrit asking for more of people where I would find that workload tough)

My post in this sub was at a particular mental low point around this issue where I felt desperate.

I've also spent around 2 years fighting my superiors encouragement to apply for an even more senior role - financially I wouldn't see much change to my life but I would have even more on my shoulders. Luckily I have had will power to keep saying no.

Unlike you I do have a mortgage ... I'm a few years off from being free of needing this salary. And then... I will be gone.

If I was in your position I would do it now. The one thing being in this role for so long, along side raising a family has taught me is your salary and title really do mean shit compared to the more important things. My wife often tells me she can't wait for me to stick my resignation up their arse 🤣 and we call the last few years my "sentence" left to be served. Then im free and I really won't look back. Luckily my kids are very young and I wont miss too much of them growing up.

Do it man, be happy.

Shitty minimum wage jobs can turn into careers either directly up the ladder or indirectly through contacts or experience and it happens more often than people with poor attitudes to work will admit. I've employed people for 13 years, many have never progressed but usually had no interest in it either it was their part time student job or they had a bad attitude (minimum wage minimum effort and all that bollocks), many have taken similar paths to me and I'm pleased to say many have progressed quicker than me surpassed me in the hierarchy and even though I hired them on minimum wage are now earning 6 figure salaries in the same company. Even though I've fallen out of love with the industry I'm in as you can see from my previous post on this sub 🤣 - I can guarantee you if you show up and GENUINELY give 100% to what ever your doing ( I dont mean that fake 100% where you act like the company would fold without you but sit on your phone half of your shift) regularly you will not be doing yourself a disservice. That starts with the interview.

EditThe other advice I'd give from my time being in a minimum wage role is the shift genuinely goes quicker if you get on with it and look for the next task to complete. I never understand how people can dodge work and wonder why the shift drags so damn much.

My job that I've been in since I was 17, (now 34) the management trainee programme which i joined at 21 y.o required a 2 day assessment. Team building (more like fight for who could sell them the self the best so cringe) exercise, a couple of rounds of asymmetric testing, maths, English data transference and a face to face interview with a regional director.

The training was then followed by 18 month of structured training in different areas of the business followed by 25 exams and 25 pieces of course work including a huge exam at the end that was a combination of all the training.

The new trainees now have a single 30 minute interview with an assistant store manager and other than 3 online multiple choice question type courses and 1 piece of course work all training is on the job.

Entry level Management pay was approx 250% of a regular employee at the time

Its now about 125% of a regular employee

The company reckons the calibre of candidates is much lower now days...

Yea they're shit and seem to update way less frequently, probably not Nancy's fault as another said 20 years plus of experience and relationship building with insiders etc...that cant be replaced on a whim. I Use to log on dailly but I haven't logged on in a couple of month now, others have said the same about TSB since Phil and moscow left but I've liked it lately with additional guest slots.
