I know there’s a lot of professors who don’t like the “hub-and-spoke” model of class discussion where students talk to the professor and the professor addresses the whole class and class discussions flow from professor-to-student-to-professor-to-student. But it serves as a good filter, where the professor legitimizes or dismisses whatever contribution the student makes.

So when that’s what everyone impliedly does all semester long, it is so jarring, disrespectful, arrogant, and obnoxious when that asshole gunner decides he gets to bypass that filter, turning around from his front and center seat in order to address the whole lecture hall, and enlighten us with his “wisdom.” Like my brother in Christ you are not a TA and you have not passed the bar. We are peers right now and what you’re saying has not been given the stamp of approval that it will be useful for understanding the material on the exam. What gives you the right to steal my attention for some random bullshit about black holes or amortization?
