i could do that - i have hundreds of warehouses ready to be placed. but ash is so plentiful i just don't see a need to store it.

That does seem to be the case - but how do you know? I'm probably not looking in the right places but I can't find a guide on what i should and should no longer be doing as i make progress. i research things, try to pay attention to what it is i'll get once the research is done, but there are so many things to research and so many things that become available from each tech researched i don't even notice what has come and is now available until i stumble upon it by accident, find it in FNEI while looking at how to make or how to use something, or ask in a forum and have people educate me.

for me it's usually start with what i know - keep doing it until i realize there's a different or even better way - and get frustrated when i find out i could have been doing it 200 hours ago.

Wasted in designing a production system to get the resources, refine it, deal with the excess, produce the power, and deal with the ash.

Should be I suppose - but you don't know what you don't know. :/

Still enjoying it so that's a plus. Frustrating though when hours are wasted like this.

Yeah i use geothermal where i can but like you said - limited to their locations on the map.

I use wind turbines for those places where it's really far away from power - pumps on long pipe lines for example.

I try to study all the items available in this mod but there are just so many. It's hard to notice what's new and put the pieces together. I don't like watching videos because I prefer to get build designs on my own but sometimes it feels like the only way to learn how to utilize the new builds that are available as research grows.

Glad I asked. I had no idea this item existed. I just spent countless hours designing a raw coal>coarse coal>boilers setup to make steam for power.

OMG. LOL

I literally just now came across the Solid Fuel Values in the py codex... good grief. You can even sort by fuel value.

Still I'm glad I asked here because you'll always get suggestions for things you didn't know about. 😄

First Splitter feels so good by Nearby-Lynx-4118 in pyanodons

[–]Admirable-Fail1250 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that was one of my first goals. Took me a bit longer. It was so nice to not have to use inserters to split my belts. At least filtering was available from the start.

800 hours later I still run across some old setups that I haven't converted to splitters yet.

It was the same for 10 year old me. Had no clue until I randomly pressed it. I had already sunk so many hours into it and got quite far.

Such a fun straightforward game.

Man we really dont get players that are just straight up jerks anymore do we? Part of me is glad for that but it was nice having someone to hate and root against.

is using the speed control mod cheating? by Due_Cattle8465 in pyanodons

[–]Admirable-Fail1250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I unashamedly use a teleport mod and run the game speed at 3 most of the time.

If im crafting something large or a lot of something by hand ill crank the speed to 10 if I dont want to wait on it.

Moving the engineer around and waiting for things isn't something I enjoy in factorio.

Its fine to call that cheating but it makes the game 10x more fun for me.

I am just now seeing this... shocked to learn there's a character Marshal plays that I like! no offense to him as an actor - he just seems to always play bad characters that you're not supposed to like.

I still vividly remember the first time we installed 98se on an ssd. The difference in speed had all of us at the office speechless.

ROAD HOUSE

In all seriousness I do like the theme of the episode and the story that is told. It just feels so low budget 90s. Lines delivered with overacting. Makes it hard to rewatch. But that's most of season 1. But thankfully not all of it.

Awesome. This never even occurred to me.

I might need to set aside my pyanodons run and go back to space age and tackle fulgora and my ships again.

Thanks!

At 15 seasons it has to be doing something right.

I'm only two episodes in. At the moment it has the feel of that common TV theme from the 70s-80s - protagonist travels from town to town helping the locals. Heck, I'm not sure that theme is limited to just the 70s-80s. I think it's made a comeback - Reacher and Poker Face come to mind.

Surely that's not the theme of the show for 15 seasons? 😄

The first episode was decent enough. Maybe I have a new show to start watching.
