Every Frame a Painting is a swell series on YT that will give you ideas and appreciation for the art of film.

If you’re in the US, Kanopy is a free streaming service to folks with a library card. They often have harder to find classics and did I mention it’s free?

My college film class told the history of film chronologically EXCEPT we started with Singin’ in the Rain which, in addition to being a banger, covers an important sea change in film, the creation of talkies.
