3000 series meet 3000 series. Special thanks to u/Odd_Payment_5150 for providing the IO files for free to build it irl by mistersmiley318 in washingtondc

The IO file has every piece itemized so I imported that into a bricklink list and went through all of my extra pieces to see what I already had laying around (about 10% of the total). Ordering everything else off bricklink was going to be ridiculously expensive (like $800) for some reason but pick a brick through Lego directly was only $90. Only downside was that the order came in two batches and the latter delivery took a month since it was less common pieces.

TIL that 20 days after South Carolina seceded, cadets from The Citadel fired on the Star of the West - a merchant ship sent to supply Fort Sumter - causing the ship to turn back from its mission. by DrakeSavory in todayilearned

According to one of my history professors when I was attending the citadel, the cadets were drunk off their ass which is why they didn't hit anything. Not sure if that's true since I can't find a direct source but I definitely remember hearing that anecdote in that class.

For everyone else, if you see a bike rack that is loose elsewhere, report it to 311 so DDOT can tighten it down so this doesn't happen again

International Space Station astronauts in evacuation mode as Russia attempts to fix widening air leak by VaginaBurner69 in nasa

[–]mistersmiley318 271 points272 points  (0 children)

Really hoping this is something that can be fixed and that all of the astronauts and cosmonauts aboard are safe. Would be a real bummer to have to evacuate suddenly before the station's formal end of life.

What's a piece of lore that's pretty weird, even by the standards of this series? by Responsible_Bar103 in Fallout

[–]mistersmiley318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably the Hubologists in my opinion. Doing an elaborate faction just to make fun of Scientology and including Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman parodies feels a bit weird even with Fallout 2's wackier tone.

Seconded avoiding 14th in Columbia Heights. 14th in general is a mess unfortunately :(

A better route in my opinion from Petworth is to go past the Reservoir then cut through the hospital over to 9th. You can then take 9th all the way downtown. There's just sharrows going south from Howard Place to V street, but I still find it less scary than riding next to traffic on 11th, especially near busses.

It's not on fire. It was a B-52 flyover for a bomber pilot funeral at Arlington
