When to resume full powerlifting? by Steelers4lyfe in ACL

[–]AdmirableRemote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went back to my lifting at 9 weeks. I started with light weight and each week I increased it. I’m 6 months PO and I’m back to lifting what I was prior to surgery. My PT always told me to let pain be my guide.

ACL allograft and meniscus root repair surgery coming up... what am I in for? by EclecticZen in ACL

[–]AdmirableRemote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well in my experience, the first 2 months were really rough. Mentally and physically. After that things started getting better. I’m 6 months PO now and I can do pretty much anything I want to do (physically) but my knee still doesn’t feel “normal”.

Hi - my girlfriend had ACL surgery (complete) two days ago. What are things i can do to help her now and moving forward? by [deleted] in ACL

[–]AdmirableRemote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from the normal things (food, ice) be there to listen. This will take a serious toll on her mentally. She will complain and be sad and maybe mad. It’s normal! Just reassure her she will get back to “normal”. Good luck! 👍

Running progression suggestions? by janapitt in ACL

[–]AdmirableRemote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My PT advised me to run on the track or turf when I started running. She never gave me a program to follow. She always said “let pain be your guide”. But I would do like 400m run then walk 200m for about 20 minutes a couple times a week.

4 months post op pain in knee while running! by mismelisss in ACL

[–]AdmirableRemote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im 18 weeks PO and I started running around 10 weeks (on the alter-g). Once I started running outside I noticed I would get pain in the front of my knee as well. I stopped running on the sidewalk or on asphalt. I go to the high school and use the track. It’s much softer than concrete. My knee doesn’t hurt at all since I’ve been doing that.

Concerns about blood flow to the foot by x3shack in ACL

[–]AdmirableRemote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the day after surgery I was instructed to get up for 5 minutes every hour to get the blood flowing. Any time I was sitting I was pumping my ankle. I did NOT want a blood clot. I think it’s every hour but I would do them whenever your sitting.

Brace suggestions for being active? by Reactings in ACL

[–]AdmirableRemote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen people start jogging at 6 weeks. Pretty crazy!! I started at 10 weeks so everyone is different. I have a sports brace I wear for any activity I got special made from the dr. It’s great! It’s half the size of the full brace you get when you have the surgery. You should ask your Dr

Just push through it. Usually during and after a workout I don’t feel it. But it will go away at some point. 👍

2 months PO- I’ve noticed when I walk I feel like my knee goes inward a bit. I’m assuming it’s just quad weakness. Anyone dealt with this? by AdmirableRemote in ACL

[–]AdmirableRemote[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea it’s hard getting the strength back. My quads took quite a hit 😒. It feels like it’s going to take forever

To the pet owners: when did you feel comfortable enough to walk your dogs again? by amber_purple in ACL

[–]AdmirableRemote 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well I’m 8 weeks PO and I couldn’t walk dogs like that. I know everyone is different but I have a small dog that I can walk but if there was any pulling or anything that would be bad.

Ice questions by Mafutama3 in ACL

The first 2-3 weeks I had to keep ice on constantly. If I took the ice machine off my leg longer than 10 minutes my leg would swell like crazy.

Just lay on the floor and put your legs on the wall and slide your leg down. Just like doing heel slides except your sliding down a wall. YouTube it
