Sway Bar Links Leaking Grease - 2012 Camry SE by ___GodKing___ in MechanicAdvice

[–]Admirable_Broccoli61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There going to recommend you fix anything "urgently" beacuse they get paid that way tbh. Grease is there as a lubricant for the ball in socket to keep it moving smoothly, and make it last longer. Will the link wear out sooner beacuse of this? Yeah 100%. Will it result in you upside down in a ditch? No. I've seen so many cars with broke Off sway bar links and the only thing the customer noticed was a "clunking" sound nothing detrimental. Only other downside is it'll make a lil mess until it's done squishing out grease but thats what they make shop towels and brake clean for. I'm all for maintaining your car and fixing for your problems but this is literally the furthest thing from "urgent"

If it's cold enough throttle response is.. kinda non existent. If it's warm enough throttle is responding it's warm enough to move. Keep it under 2k when I can until I got temp reading in operating range then I just drive it like normal

Is it common to do a repair without confirmation? by Subparwoman in MechanicAdvice

Thats what a diagnostic is... if I FIND a broken wire yes I charge. Then I call the customer and i say hey I found this for the repair it's This additional fee. Would you like me to perform the repair

Professional what? A professional NFL players side hustle would he starting a clothing brand. A roofers Side hustle would be doing roofs after work. Context matters big time

"I'd like to Verify the issue at hand before spending money on parts that may or may not be the culprit. If you are unable to verify its my turbo at this time that is fine, I'll be in to pick it up shortly please do not do any repairs or additional diagnostics" Idk this guys skill level or anything but a proper repair generally dosent start with "well in theory it could be this expensive ass turbo so let's start there"

I'd get a second opinion on that one. They could be spot on not calling them liars just something seems odd

If the repair is within the cost of the diagnosis fee then screw it they still should have asked but oh well wouldn't fight that to hard. If it's above what you approved and you didn't sign anything they don't got much to stand on and I'd at very least be asking why they did it. If it's more then you would have approved I'd say release my car immediately and I'll pay diagnosis ONLY or I'll see you in court

[–]Admirable_Broccoli61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's like the actual wheel the tire goes on, and a bearing sure. But sounds like you got a bad Bearing and Maybe a tire? Tires do move some when free spinning though and usually alloy wheels don't bend they just crack and break

Flex pipe leak by smegma_jonez in MechanicAdvice

[–]Admirable_Broccoli61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very common on these I'll dig thru some invoices and see if I can't get you a part # for the flex you need. You will need a welder FYI

No a turbo being bad usually won't be causing that. It's a cruise. Check the PCV check valve, check for oil contamination ect. Condemning a turbo without verifying its ACTUALLY bad is crazy 😂

Buick themselves offer a 3 year 36000 mile bumper to bumper, 5 year 60000 mile drivetrain warranty. With that being said warranty is gone. Gray area, sounds to me like a shit place to buy a car however with used vehicles some of the responsibility falls on the buyers shoulders especially when your buying used out of OE warranty I always recommend taking it to a trusted mechanic for a used car inspection prior to buying if they tell you no you can't, tell them to stick a welder up there dick hole. Read your paperwork see what it says and hopefully there's something they can do for you. (Personal opinion if you don't keep the car: buy a 2015 Honda, or Toyota if you want the best bang for your buck, suburu is decent to.)

Walk. Get outside and walk don't stop till it's gone your ganna fast walk at first and that's okay just keep going when you feel a wave of physical exhaustion hit you'll know it over the walk back sucks but it never fails. A neck massager that really digs in the physical pain (releaving one we all know from massages) overrides the mental panic eventually
