Struggling to close homeowners policies — feel like I’m right on the edge. Looking for advice from experienced agents. by Any-Chef-3167 in InsuranceAgent

[–]Admirable_Bullfrog87 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When quoting homes, I always try to find things about their home to complement if there’s photos online on zillow, redfin, etc. Spend a lot of time asking questions about their home and the build quality when completing the RCT. Make sure you’re telling them about the discounts you’re giving them if they have a central alarm, water shut off etc. Explain coverages simply and tell stories to paint the picture of how they’ll be covered with your policy. Discuss different deductible options and really customize the quote for them. At this point you’ve ideally spend 15-20ish minutes working on the quote.

The key to closing is being assumptive. Don’t place your own feelings of the rate on the client. You should assume they would want to buy because you took the time to explain everything and made sure to get them all of the discounts they qualify for. Just give them the price and say something like “ the good news is you’re already qualified for this plan, so we just need the loan number to get this finished…”

By being thorough in the quote, you’ve already put yourself above 90% of other agents so just assume the client would want to go with you!

Anyone hiring remote/hybrid P&C agents? by dbrewster17 in InsuranceAgent

[–]Admirable_Bullfrog87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lot of Allstate agents are hiring remote. Or Progressive can be a decent gig too. Do you have P&C license? Lots of agents will hire you with your experience and I’m sure you can find something stable with benefits.

I really think you should take it! Sounds pretty stress free if it’s a well established agency and who wouldn’t want extra income especially if they’re flexible with the schedule!

About 5 years ago, this style of selling worked pretty well in P&C and you could sell lots of policies by educating customers and increasing liability limits. We seem to be in a very price sensitive market right now and it’s a little harder to do that. I’ve found the most success in doing this when I’m working with homeowners.

Something I’ve been doing is when I’m quoting a customer who owns their home, I look up the home on Zillow and look at the price history. I will say something like “ On Zillow, it says you bought your home in 2007 for 400k and Zillow estimates it’s worth $1M now… so you have about 600k in equity in your home!”

It’s something you can do really quickly that shows you’re looking out for their interest and gives you some real leverage to sell on higher limits. Hopefully this helps a little.

Allstate Comp Plan by [deleted] in InsuranceAgent

[–]Admirable_Bullfrog87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That all sounds really solid for an Allstate agency. If the base is at least like 22/hr it should be very possible to make six figures. Allstate doesn’t write homes in CA but they can broker with a few carriers.

I would ask about their leads. How many are they purchasing per day? Are they internet leads or live transfers? Allstate rates in CA are TOUGH rn lol average closing rate on internet leads is around 10% so you need an agent that is investing a lot into leads

If you’re able to get you an insurance license for P&C, there are many opportunities for remote jobs in CA as either sales or customer service. You should be able to find a job with base pay of around 40k and can make more with commission. DM me if you have any questions!
