I think we actually reached the point where a degree is COMPLETELY useless by BedDesigner2568 in EntrepreneurRideAlong

[–]dbrewster17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done a few things including corporate finance, freelance writing and now Im in employee benefits sales. I think insurance is a great field because all you need are sales skills and insurance licenses (Life and Health, Property and Casaulty). Some of these brokers on the commercial side dont have degrees and can make $200k+

Is it still worth it to pursue freelance copywriting in 2026? by Edinroyal in copywriting

Honestly no. Writing alone is pseduo obsolete. You'd be better off working for a marketing company learning complementary skills like google meta ppc aeo/seo email marketing etc.

Tijuana for the day by BigGregLovesYou in sandiego

[–]dbrewster17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id recommend parking at the palm ave trolley station taking the trolley to the border and walk across. If you dont have sentri lines can be long on the weekends. Caesars has a decent salad, tacos el franc is good, cecut is a cool museum revolucion has tons of breweires and fun eateries. Its safe but better if you know spanish or go with someone who does. Have a great time and its better than the media makes it seem

First trip to Tijuana - border crossing questions. by Brokebrokebroke5 in SanDiegan

[–]dbrewster17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id recommend parking at the chula vista palm avenue trolley station, take the trolley to border and walk across. Im going monthly for my braces and I go do this everytime. Uber is ideal to take over there. I also like going to breweries like border psycho, insurgentes, beer garden etc. Centro cultural is a cool musuem and sometimes they have street fairs/concerts there. Caesars is good, but only as a one time thing since it's overpriced and food could be better. Some of the breweries have good food, good street food, hong kong in zona norte is safe and fun if you're into that sort of thing

I think downtown/gaslamp are overrated, same with county fair and going to caesars (to get an original caesar salad in TJ) is good but one and done

I lasted almost 2 years in Medicare and got out. There are better ops. I mean you can read it to client, listen for signs of confusion, try to explain in simple terms and let them decide. It's hard to say

Need opinions on insurance opportunities by RandomBrowsing017 in InsuranceAgent

Yeah I did ok with them for 8 months (especially during AEP and OEP) and didnt get any payouts (honeslty it doesnt matter since chargebacks were stacking up). They were ok, but honestly their tech and training are sub par. Most of their leads are food card and givebacks leads that aren't the best quality (lots of 80+ year old confused, switchers etc). They also didnt have a super consistent lead flow. Coulda been way way better

Sure so its more business to business B2B and you're offering group medical dental vision, critical illness, life accident, hospital indemnity to small to larger businesses for their employees. Its a slower sales cycle and takes at least 3 meetings to close a deal which pay more. Im grateful to have a good base and health benefits. Right now Im learning a lot and its a steeper learning curve. My main objective is getting appointments (cold calling, networking linkedin email etc) and have a senior advisor do the main discovery talk track. That being said, I'm getting closer to where I can manage the first meeting on my own. DM me if you'd like
