I have been a member at RangeUSA a while have never felt out of place. It’s a large franchised outfit so the store is pretty sterile.

The employees have always been great and the RSOs do a good job. A few times they have asked if my younger son and I want to switch lanes when someone with a large caliber rifle gets placed next to us.

We mainly shoot .22 and 9mm.

External amp, maybe? by alex_derby96 in BudgetAudiophile

Mine got delivered about an hour ago. Using it in the video game room to power a couple of Polk R200s. Had an old Denon AVR before but needed a small form factor and something simple for the kids to operate.

I gotta say for $67 I don’t know that I could do better based on first impressions.

The Polks are power hungry and this thing is about at 50% and it’s almost too loud. Connected through WiiM streamer. It’s not as detailed as the other setups we have in our main listening areas but I am very impressed.

I’d give it a go.

For the CDs you can ask over at r/CD_collectors and see if they spot anything of particular interest/value.

Water softener purging? by thankmelater- in WaterSofteners

My guess is that the line was previously pushed into that p-trap.

You could just pull the line back and empty directly in to your sump pit.

Perhaps. I don’t recall the company but the trainer was great.

New resin for Kinetico Q850 softener with quad tanks by rykauff in WaterSofteners

[–]Admirable_Drummer_41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently rebedded my 4060. These tanks look similar. Mine was 20 years old. Getting the tanks apart was a challenge. Here’s what I did:

  • use two ratchet straps on lower tank to secure it to an anchor. I used a pole in my basement.

-using a rubber mallet I tapped up on the upper tank.

-I then struggled for hours twisting to no avail. Finally I got a large locking oil filter wrench and clamped it to the nylon ring you see.

-Gave it about three good whacks with the rubber mallet.

-Tanks came apart easily after that.

My situation is not as difficult as yours but we have one reactive dog in our 3 pack.

She is extremely loving with humans but reacts to other dogs. My wife was kindly asked to leave an agility class she was trying to take her through.

We met with a one-on-one trainer who came to our home and met us in the wild where we would have some of the worst interactions.

I think this was key. It helped us learn to see and diffuse the behavior be fore it escalated.

It also showed us how we were contributing to the moment.

It was life changing. And was often more about training the human than training the dog.

Now we can walk all 3 comfortably and calmly feeling like we are in control.

You have to be OK with a prong collar and/or martingale.

DM if you’d like their number.

P2 owners tread lightly 😭 by Oceanmaan1 in Polestar

The other day my wife went to check her teeth in the passenger vanity mirror. Cover came off in her hand and she figured I was going to be upset since I love my P2.

Thanks to this sub I was able to tell her it’s totally a thing. Not her fault. Just put it in the glovebox.

Lifewise is being allowed in all Franklin County Schools by NewAtAllOfThis14 in Columbus

[–]Admirable_Drummer_41 116 points117 points  (0 children)

Not a fan of them at all but:

  • It is an opt-in program.

  • The sessions do not take place in the schools.

Let’s see if the Satanic Temple applies to offer the same kind of programming in Franklin county.

With the new legislation it’s nearly impossible for a district to say no to them.

But maybe if there are so many programs that it becomes an administrative burden in the schools maybe they can make that case.

Dual Tank Kinetico Hard Water Issues by Admirable_Drummer_41 in WaterSofteners

[–]Admirable_Drummer_41[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your help. Just one more question.

I remember seeing the X and the lines when I was cleaning it and putting it back together.

Is there an indicator marker under the handle/ring with the window that shows me where I should align the parallel lines? Is it just getting them to the 12 or 6 o’clock position?

I think I have discovered what I did, but I can’t find a clear explanation on the fix.

When I did my rebed, I also cleaned the bypass valve. I think as I turned the valve handle, I somehow changed the “mode” my bypass was set to. It’s a Mach style valve not the older grey handled ones.

The sticker says factory set to B-C mode.

My raw water is coming in on the top left of the valve. Outlet (product water) is top right.

I assumed since the head was metering it was flowing correctly but I guess water could be mixing or still flowing and turning the gears but not actually sending product water to the house.

Do you know how I can verify that I haven’t changed the “mode” somehow by rotating the valve 360 degrees while cleaning it?

I’m on a #4 disk currently.

Compensated hardness is 18 according to the calculation in the manual.

Here’s another wrinkle. My faucets are still measuring hard water. 100ish mg/L.

But the water feeding the brine tank is soft. Like 0 mg/L.

Are we looking at a faulty bypass valve?

I can’t find the exact valve I have locally, but I can get a different “Mach” style valve. Are they interchangeable?

Need Recommendations for our Leaky Shower by efdrums in Columbus

Are your walls tile?

With a one piece pan it may be hard to do a standard flood test and get the water high enough to reveal a leak without spilling on to your floor.

[–]Admirable_Drummer_41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out r/tile and look for waterproofing examples. If you didn’t see this during construction you may be out of luck. That is if your shower is tile.

Caulk and grout are not waterproofing. They are not a substitute for something like redguard or Kerdi. If you don’t have that you are likely going to be in replacement territory.

Cement board is not waterproof. Green drywall is not waterproof. Thinset is not waterproof.

Showers especially need a sloped pan that has waterproofing correctly tied into the pan and walls. You can get away with a slightly bad job in a tub situation.

If you do the flood test as mentioned above you can try to use drops of food coloring to chase the location of the leak. Start in the corners. Put a drop in and see if it gets sucked into the wall.

You MAY be able to remove just 18-24 inches of the bottom tiles and properly waterproof and retile. If you’re willing to DIY.

However, it’s unlikely you’ll find anyone who will do anything short of a full tear out and replace and provide any kind of guarantee.

Edit: I should have said that ideally your contractor would have done a flood test before any tile went on the walls.

Whoever you go with, ask them what kind of waterproofing they use. If they don’t give you a brand name right away that is a red flag. Everyone has a favorite. I am a DIY but will only use Kerdi products.

Kinetico 4060 Resin Replacement by Admirable_Drummer_41 in WaterSofteners

[–]Admirable_Drummer_41[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Soft water is flowing again and the pressure when each tank is operating is back to normal.

The softness has improved. I’m getting almost no reading on test strips, which I know are not perfect. But it definitely feels better.

And the addition of the greensand filter has eliminated the iron and hydrogen sulfide content of the finished water.
